The court was unusually silent. Everyone was seated on its place. Every soul, either extremely beautiful or way too ugly, acquired their seat with respect to their positions. The king was resting on his throne too, waiting for a particular someone. The doors eventually opened with a creek as a blonde boy in early twenties made his way through the courtesans.
He was a beautiful piece of art, mesmerizing eyes and sharp nose with v shaped jaw. His sharp clavicle and well sculptured body made him look like an angel. But in very honesty, he was a demon. Not that he had a choice though. Whoever dies before their time period on earth turns into demon and have to spend rest of his life on Orcas as trapped souls or what we human know it as stars.
He made his way to the front and bowed with respect. A smile never leaving his charming face. Everyone in the court room smiled. The king claps his hands twice and a shining sword appears in his hands. He gestured the young lad to step forward, which he did.
The king stood up from his large throne carved of skulls and thorns, his blood red Cape draping behind. The whole court room stood up after him as an act of gesture and obedience. He put his black red sword in between the boy and himself. He then murmurs something and hand the shiny weapon to the younger.
Blonde bows again and take it sitting on one knee. As soon as his slender pale fingers brushed against the metal, whole courtroom burst into a fit or praises and applause. He turned towards the courtroom and showed his newly earned victory. A wave of claps could be heard allover the room.
The king put his left hand around boy's shoulder, wrapping it in his giant torso as he was at least twice the size of that boy.
"The king earlier to this throne, handed me this sword. This sword is sovereign and is given to someone trustworthy. This sword means the throne and rule. Only a truly worthy person can reside on it as the decision is in the hold of king's hand. And I have found an appealing figure. Lucas.
His quick wits and passion have truly amazed me. Pity he has to die young but his loyalty and service is none to go unnoticed. Therefore I, king Ivory, the current ruler of great Orcas, hereby assign Lucas as the next heir to throne. The time I might perish into ashes, shall his rule begin. I want all of you to obey him and accept him as your new ruler after my time is over."
Old king smiled as he addressed the court room. The deville bowed to him and chanted his name. Rituals or might say formalities were over. Now was the time for real thing. The wish. The long awaited wish Lucas has been craving for. All his time in Orcas, he has been waiting for this particular moment which has arrived. His long awaited prayers has been answered today.
He turned towards the king and smiled at him, earning a wider one back. He hesitated little, but decided to speak " With all due respect sire, I have heard that anyone who is appointed as next heir to throne is granted a wish."
The king chuckled a little and ruffled lad's blonde hair. He replied" Wits, my boy, doesn't work on me!! Tell me what you desire......wealth, health, palace, girls...anything you want shall be fulfilled. It's my words to you."
"Three months. Three months back in human world is all I ask for sire". The king's smile dropped. A serious expression acquired his face as he knitted his brows making an inverted 'U' with the wrinkles on his forehead. With a deadpanned voice, he commanded him to continue.
The boy gulped at sudden change is king's expression. He became a little less confident with what he was asking for. Nonetheless, he continued.
" Sire, everyone here has died before their time, either due to someone's jealousy or due to some accident. But at least they know why they died or how they did. However, unfortunate me, I don't even know the reason for the faith I met. I didn't even get to see the people I loved for the last time. It makes me feel pitiful. It worries me. I want answers and this time I want to end things with a proper goodbye. I have died seventy years earlier sire, and after you, I'll be busy with this work. I won't be able to rule properly with so much confusions in my head. Grant this last wish of your servant, my lord. Only three months is all I ask for."
The earlier furious expression has turned into a pitiful one. A twenty one year old doesn't deserve a fate like this. He was just eleven when he was recruited from world of mortals. He haven't even lived his childhood. He can't give the boy his happy years back but at least he can grant his last wish. At least this much he can do, so after thinking for a while, he nodded.
The boy cheered with delight and bowed multiple times. The king smiled a little and hugged him. He whispered in the younger's ears:
"Be careful of who you trust. You have a realm to rule. Don't let anyone know about Orcas. Don't let anyone direct you wrong. Don't start a chapter you can't complete. Avenge your revenge, silently. And lastly ...don't fall in love because love takes an eternity, and my child, all you have is three months. I will be watching you from up here."
The boy nodded and let go off the hug. He left the court room after final bow and made his way to his room. He placed himself on his bed and looked through the windows beside. Outside was dark just like him inside. He doesn't have a heart but emotions never left him. He doesn't have a soul but art to live still recides. Somewhere in a tiny corner is a hope he would be living again, but reality is, he is dead. Orcas is his only home now. The sooner he accepts the reality, the better.
He looked outside his window down at the colourful globe and searching for that one particular face. When he found her, he smiled sheepishly and passed into deep slumber of sleep.
Next day, when he woke up, he was in human world.
