"Sis, do you have a minute? Come over here, I’ve prepared a surprise for you."
Emma was about to go and meet her boyfriend, Chris, but then her phone rang with a message from her best friend.
A surprise? What could it be?
Emma followed the address sent by her sister and quickly reached the mentioned place. Before she could push the door open, she heard a shy voice coming from the inside, enough to make any unknowing person blush.
Her hand froze in mid-air, her mind unable to process the situation as the sounds from the inside continued...
"Chris, stop it."
"Chris, I knew you loved me."
"Of course, I love you. How can that ugly Emma compare to you?"
Emma incredulously stepped back a few steps. The voice was so familiar it couldn’t be more so. This was the surprise her beloved younger sister had prepared for her.
Surprise? Is this it? Well, it indeed is shocking.
Chris, whatever I've done for you isn’t worth the stab you delivered to my heart today.
Emma felt as if her heart was in so much pain that she couldn’t breathe.
Emma forcefully pushed open the door, staring in shock and disappointment at the two figures intertwined like glue. Her thin lips trembled as she managed to croak out, "Why?"
Her younger sister, whom she loved dearly, and the man she was deeply in love with, were now entwined, saying words that broke her heart.
Is my face ugly?
"If it weren't for saving you six months ago, this face of mine would still be the same," she had stated.
She was willing to forsake everything for Chris, even risk her own life to save him. But what did she get in return?
Brie looked up flirtatiously, her body still pressed tightly against Chris, without a trace of shyness. Her victorious smile decorated her face, "Emma, that's the truth. The person Chris truly loved was me all along. If it wasn't for his gratitude towards you for saving him years ago, why would he have tolerated your face for so long?
And yes, Dad has known about Chris and me for quite a while, he has just never told you."
Chris frowned slightly, "Brie, why explain this to her?"
"Is that so?" Emma, suppressing her heartache and nausea, glanced at Chris's flushed face and flung a cup of water at their faces. The droplets trickled down in response.
It turns out that everyone knew, and only she was kept in the dark, including her father!
Brie squealed and hid weakly in Chris's arms, "Chris..."
"Emma, you're an ugly woman. How could you ever be worthy of Chris? It's just one time when you saved him three years ago, and what in the end? He still likes me."
"Emma, have you lost your mind?" Chris scolded, disgust evident in his voice, each word of rebuke ringing in Emma's ears.
"I was foolish, not mad," Emma scoffed involuntarily. The disappointment didn’t even begin to compare to her pain.
Blind to the wolf hiding in sheep’s clothing, pouring out everything she had and in return, she was treated like this.
Chris frowned, his displeased gaze chilling as it swept over her, "Emma, what do you mean?"
With this thought, Emma suppressed her dejected expression and forced herself to stay calm, scoffing lightly," No particular meaning, simply wishing you both a lifetime of love until death. Best if you tumble and roll until you end up on a mat."
So, I can take care of your bodies!
A scumbag, Emma, didn't care for at all. As if being bitten by a dog, all it cost was her face.
With that, Emma scoffed coldly. The ruined half of her face appeared ugly. Casting one last glance at that couple, she then left.
