In City A, known for its prestigious villas, there sits a villa perched on a high point. A crane amidst a flock of chickens, it seems to declare its unmatched status.
Inside the Gu Mansion, Gu LuoFeng was scrutinizing the woman who sat calmly before him.
Her conservative and dull demeanor was emphasized by her black business attire. Her long black hair was tied up in a bun, exuding an aura of vintage and antiquity. A pair of heavy, black glasses masked the gleam in her eyes, revealing a strong scent of books and learning. A few freckles on her face marred some of her beauty, making her easily overlooked in a crowd, nothing particularly interesting about her.
The sharp tapping sound from Gu LuoFeng's long fingers touching the desktop seemed to easily penetrate one's heart.
"Miss Mu, you graduated from the renowned Stanford College in America. After graduating, you have been working at the school with admirable achievements. What made you think of taking on this job?" He asked lazily, his voice rich with a captivating charm.
Mu JinXi pushed her heavy glasses a little higher on her nose, "I just returned to China and need a job. Compared to invitations from other schools, the salary for this job meets my expectations better. If I can choose a higher-paid job that requires the same effort, why not?" Mu JinXi spoke slowly, pushing her glasses again.
Gu LuoFeng paused the tapping of his fingers. Despite her conservative appearance, she was refreshingly direct and decisive.
"Salary? I've always thought that overseas trained individuals should be noble and aloof."
"Ah, is Master Gu insinuating that I am mundane and ignorant? If I can't even cover my basic daily needs, how can I afford to be noble and aloof?" Mu JinXi replied with a faint smile, maintaining her composure even when discussing such a sensitive topic as money.
Gu LuoFeng looked at the woman in front of him. She had a face that could easily blend into any crowd, yet her words carried an extraordinary deterrence. He found it interesting, "I misjudged. XiFan can be unruly at times."
"So he needs a good teacher all the more, doesn't he?" Mu JinXi spoke confidently, the light in her eyes behind the black glasses hard to conceal.
"Miss Mu is very confident." Gu LuoFeng looked at Mu JinXi, exerting a heavy pressure with his gaze.
Confronted with Gu LuoFeng's demeanor, Mu JinXi just smiled serenely, "Yes, every profession produces its own leading authority. Just as Master Gu strategizes impeccably in the business field, this is my realm." Mu JinXi gestured towards the bookshelf beside her, implying the unspoken message.
"It seems Miss Mu isn't as unaware as one might think!” Within his captivating tone had an undeniable pressure that sent chills down the spine.
In response, Mu JinXi simply pushed up her heavy glasses calmly and composedly, "Master Gu's reputation precedes him, so I have no worries about receiving my salary."
Gu LuoFeng was examining the woman in front of him, Mu JinXi, as if to ascertain the truthfulness of her words. Mu JinXi faced his gaze calmly, even managing to flicker a professional smile at the corners of her mouth.
"Miss Mu is quite interesting," said Gu LuoFeng, the pressure that he exuded just moments ago had vanished completely, as if it had been an illusion.
Mu JinXi curved her lips into a faint smile. An ordinary face that suddenly became somewhat beautiful with that expression.
Gu LuoFeng narrowed his eyes and stood up suddenly, removing Mu JinXi’s glasses before she could even react.
Mu JinXi’s eyes slightly moved, no signs of panic on her face. Facing Gu LuoFeng who was just inches away from her, she said with a cool voice, "Mr. Gu, are you trying to seduce me?"
Gu LuoFeng looked straight into Mu JinXi’s eyes, their gaze met, he let out a graceful laugh: "Miss Mu, why would you say so?" His long drawn tone revealed a hint of undisguised playfulness.
"Because Mr. Gu's reputation in this regard isn’t too good, treating women like clothes that can be discarded at will." Mu JinXi spoke bluntly, showing no hesitation although speaking in front of Gu LuoFeng.
"Oh, since that is the case, why would Miss Mu dare to apply for this tutor position?" While twirling Mu JinXi's glasses in his hand, Gu LuoFeng didn’t seem to have any intention of getting up. He propped his arm on the side of the couch, seemingly cornering Mu JinXi, the pose seemed conspicuously intimate from certain angles.
"I suppose that a plain Jane like me would not catch Mr. Gu's eye. Also, as the saying goes, the rabbit does not eat the grass around its burrow. I just want to do my job properly, surely Mr. Gu wouldn't go after his son's tutor, I don't think Mr. Gu is that desperate," Mu JinXi's words remained undisturbed.
"Miss Mu is very clever!" Gu LuoFeng acknowledged lightly.
"It's my honor to be praised by Mr. Gu!" Mu JinXi maintained her composure.
"I just think that these heavy glasses don't suit Miss Mu!" Gu LuoFeng handed back the glasses to Mu JinXi.
"If Mr. Gu can provide glasses for the tutor, I would gracefullly accept." As Mu JinXi slowly put on her glasses, her actions remained composed and elegant throughout.
"I will consider it. I entrust Xifan to Miss Mu, how about starting work tomorrow?" Gu LuoFeng suggested.
"I'd be more than happy to," Mu JinXi replied confidently.
