Introduction
Valerie had spent eighteen years as a human shield for her adoptive mother's illegitimate daughter, only to be cast out in the end. Her adoptive parents claimed her biological family lived in squalor—that she'd be forced to tend chickens, grind feed, and worse, be married off young to some bachelors in exchange for a dowry. Bracing herself for hardship, she never expected a private jet to arrive for her. And her real parents? They turned out to be powerful tycoons from the capital! Her true family wasn’t just well-off—they were extraordinary. Her eldest brother was a titan of commerce, steering a financial empire. Her second brother, a medical prodigy, wielded the healing hands of a god. Her third brother, an A-list actor, dominated the entertainment industry. Her fourth brother, a ruthless lawyer, was sharp, relentless, and unmatched. And her sister? A genius scholar, the family’s most cherished jewel. As for her father—the undisputed king of the business world—he beamed with adoration. "My daughter’s home! Here’s a month’s allowance—spend it however you like!" Then, a certain domineering CEO stepped forward, his voice low. "Val, wherever you go, I go." Valerie scowled. "Get lost, or I’ll kill you." The CEO’s eyes softened, feigning innocence. "You wouldn’t really make me leave, would you…?"

"Sis, who would have thought that the one enjoying the lap of luxury at the Anderson family for all these years, would unexpectedly be you...?"

Wearing a white princess dress, Sophia glared full of resentment at Valerie, with whom she had grown up.

She clenched her handkerchief, an indescribable sense of sarcasm permeating her tone.

After a family medical examination last month, a shocking secret at the Anderson household was unveiled—

Miss Valerie's blood type didn't match that of the Anderson couple!

Sophia held up the identification report, proclaiming her as the biological daughter of Patricia, glinting triumphantly.

Thinking back to her years living as a nanny’s daughter despite being the rightful heiress, she felt a surge of indignation.

Now that the truth had come to light, she could finally regain her rightful place!

At that moment, the Anderson couple were also sizing up Valerie from the corner of their eyes.

Seeing Valerie's gaze on her, Patricia wiped away nonexistent tears on her cheek, dramatizing her emotions.

"Val, even though it was quite a surprise to find out that Sophia is our real flesh and blood, we have to part ways so as not to keep you from reuniting with your own birth parents," Patricia said, ostensibly full of compassion.

Mr. Anderson had originally intended to continue raising both of his girls.

However, faced with Patricia's accusations of Valerie's past mistreatment of Sophia, and that living together would be unfair for Sophia, he couldn’t disagree.

Just as he was about to issue a search notice for Valerie's biological family, he received a phone call from North Carolina.

The thick local accent on the other end had him in complete bewilderment.

North Carolina was a remote area, where the locals primarily made a living by farming.

"Valerie, don't worry too much. Even though your biological parents are farmers, I heard a chicken crowing over the phone, which means you still get to eat freshly killed chicken..."

Sophia couldn't help but laugh at this.

Keeping chickens in such a place!

It's downright heartbreaking!

She feigned innocence as she spoke, her voice full of superiority.

Valerie sneered internally, already seeing through the truth of this charade.

The so-called family medical checkup was nothing more than a ruse due to her reaching marriageable age, and the Miller family urging an engagement.

Some people couldn't wait to drive her out of the Anderson family, to let their own biological daughter, kept under the name of a nanny, smoothly take over.

Valerie glanced at them indifferently, saying, "You can stop the charade. I was planning on leaving anyway. But before that, return the stolen computer to me."

She was calm and composed, her eyes flickering subtly. Her every move exuded an innate elegance, a quality that Sophia could never imitate.

This self-righteous appearance really infuriated people!

"Sis, I wouldn't be caught dead with that five-year-old outdated computer. Did you lose it and blame it on me?"

Some of the nearby servants also started joining in.

"Seriously, only Miss Valerie could be this stingy, considering a hunk of junk computer as her treasure."

"Forget it, Miss Valerie is about to return to the countryside, a place so remote there probably won't be any wifi..."

Sophia raised the corners of her mouth in triumph.

Valerie expressionlessly took out her phone, lightly tapped it a few times, and pulled up a surveillance video.

The screen clearly showed Sophia sneakily entering her room last night and stealing her computer.

In the video, Sophia hugged the computer, her face distorted as she growled, "Why does that old woman only treat you well! I am the legitimate daughter of the Anderson family!"

Sophia instantly froze on the spot.

Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that Valerie would have installed a camera in her room and even captured her cursing at the old lady.

Patricia quickly shielded Sophia behind her, as if Valerie were a ferocious beast ready to pounce.

"Val, what's with installing surveillance in your own house? Have you thought about it? Our house contains numerous business secrets, the leakage of which would be so risky!"

At Patricia's words, Mr. Anderson's face immediately turned grave.

"Val, give me your phone to see. Dad needs to make sure you didn't install surveillance anywhere else."

Valerie sneered internally.

She couldn't care less about these so-called business secrets.

In front of Mr. Anderson, Valerie directly reset her mobile phone to factory settings, clearing all files at once.

A little embarrassed, he explained, "Dad doesn't distrust you, it's just...it's better to be safe, right?"

"Watch your words -- we are no longer father and daughter. Return my computer to me, and I will leave right away." Valerie spoke with an undeniable authority.

Mr. Anderson, slightly awkward, signaled Sophia to bring the computer.

"My sister is so stubborn. She even wants to take this lousy computer to her poor parents place where she probably can't even access the internet." Sophia muttered, unable to help herself.

For Sophia, it was unfathomable why Valerie, who faced hardship, treasured this old computer that could barely be switched on.

Valerie glanced at her calmly.

This computer was a gift from her grandmother. Although Valerie had transformed it into a unique device, it was not indispensable.

She could replace a broken computer, but she didn't cherish this fake kinship at all!

However, this computer held a significant meaning for her.

Amongst her family, who were all partial towards Sophia, only her grandmother truly loved her and provided her with warmth.

Unfortunately, her grandmother passed away recently, leaving no reason for Valerie to stay in the home that meant little to her.

Valerie then walked towards the door without turning back, not dragging her feet at all.

Patricia, who originally planned to plead for her to stay, was now too embarrassed to say anything.

"What do you mean by this?” she finally blurted out. “I'm speaking nicely and you throw a tantrum? You and Sophia grew up together. How can your characters be so different? It's like night and day!”

Through the words of Mr. Anderson, Patricia also came to understand that Valerie's biological parents lived in considerable hardship.

According to rumor, their family was desperately poor, residing in a very poor area.

Both parents were farmers, and they had elder brothers and sisters, and their grandparents were all sickly.

In such a poor and remote place, if Valerie were to return, her life would certainly be difficult.

Worse still, she may have to become the pillar of the family before she was fully grown, working herself to death each day and even possibly having to save money to assist her brothers with their marriages!

Sophia, who had been feeling inferior due to Valerie these past years, instantly felt invigorated following Valerie’s situation, marching on merrily.

"Big sister, let me accompany you."

Mr. Anderson gave Patricia a glance, somewhat disagreeing.

"Stop talking already, when you and mother were sick, Valerie took good care of us."

Patricia glared at him harshly: "Cared for? She's had her fill of luxuries and yet she's not satisfied, even daring to have her eyes on Sophia’s marriage. The marriage arrangement with the Miller family is meant for my biological daughter!"

The marriage engagement with Taylor Miller, should by all rights be for Sophia, the biological daughter of the Anderson family, not Valerie, a non-related 'heiress' that barged in halfway!

Moreover, Sophia had been close friends with Taylor since they were children, their relationship profound.

In comparison, Sophia who was the actual biological daughter was truly sensible and considerate. Now that she had reclaimed her identity as the biological daughter, Patricia felt joy in her heart…

Upon hearing about the subject of marriage, Sophia quickly moved closer, holding a handkerchief in her hand and grinning sweetly

From a young age, Sophia loved to compare herself with others, particularly enjoying taking what belonged to Valerie.

From childhood to adulthood, whether it was jewelry, clothes, food, or even the affection of the Anderson family, she wanted it all.

Valerie really didn't care about these things and sees Sophia as an impostor. To Valerie, the Anderson family must have been blind not to see it. If not for Sophia bringing it up, Valerie would have forgotten about Taylor.

"Sophia, isn’t your taste too low, even fancying something of that quality?"
