Jasper's PoV

"You are so awesome. Where are you going to meet Jullie?" Mom inquired as she adjusted the necktie I was wearing since I was dressed in black long sleeves.

"At the bus stop, mom," I replied, as she finished patching up my necktie.

"Be careful, you two; later on, Christmas, send me a text or call to say Merry Christmas," mom advised me, and I nodded.

I took the rose bouquet I purchased earlier from the table, and I also have a gift for Jullie, which I know she has desired for a long time. I bought a couple of rings for the two of us because she expected to have them. We were too busy with our studies on the days she wished to purchase a couple of rings.

"I'm on my way out!" I said to mom and dad.

"Take care, son!" I got on my motorcycle, put on my helmet, and started the engine as I went to the bus stop.

When I arrived at the bus stop, Jullie was not there, and as it was only 11:30 p.m. I simply sat on my motorcycle and removed my helmet. I texted her but received no response; perhaps she is still on the trip. I should just wait for her.

"Jasper!" I heard Jullie's voice, and when I noticed she was in the opposite lane, I waved and showed her the roses I was about to give her, and she simply smiled.

Jullie didn't notice the truck speeding up towards her as she continued to walk.

"Jullie!!" I screamed, but she was unaware of the truck.

She crossed, but a truck struck her.

The impact was so strong that I was powerless to intervene as Jullie's body flew over the road, people began screaming, and the truck collided with another vehicle.

She was covered in blood, her arms and legs beat, and she was unable to move or speak, but she was looking at me and shivering.

I approached her immediately; her head was covered in blood, and I grabbed my phone to dial 911.

People started screaming. It was all very blurry, and all I could see was Jullie dying in front of me, covered in blood.

I was shaking, my mind went blank, and I couldn't think straight about what I was going to do.

Jullie held my arm, and I concentrated entirely on her as she looked at me, and I saw her tears dripping.

"Please don't leave me, Jullie," my voice was shaking now, and I wasn't sure what I was going to do.

"I love you, Jasper." She touched my cheek for one last time, and she closed her eyes, and I screamed.

"No, wake up!" I said aloud, holding her bloody cheeks, and I felt someone grab me and drag Jullie away.

I was unaware that the ambulance had arrived and I continued to cry.

"Sir, you need to calm down; we will take care of this." The ambulance has arrived.

"Please, please save her," I pleaded as two paramedics drew me away from the scene.

As the paramedics prepared their equipment to check on Jullie, my mind went blank, and I had no idea what to do next. It happened so quickly, in the blink of an eye.

As the paramedics finished fitting her with medical equipment and the stretcher, I observed one of the paramedics performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation to resuscitate her. She was wearing dextrose and a neck brace with an oxygen mask. I have no idea what is happening because everything around me is blurred.

"We must immediately transport her to the nearest hospital! She has multiple fractured bones, including her leg and arms, and may have suffered head trauma." The paramedic stated that as they loaded her into the ambulance car and installed a life support system.

There were so many people screaming and shouting that my ears went silent. All I could see was Jullie dying in front of me, and I couldn't do anything.

"Sir, follow us into the hospital," the paramedic instructed, and I did so without hesitation as I rode my motorcycle and wore my helmet.

I immediately started the engine of my motor, with a blank mind as to what I would do next. I followed the ambulance because Jullie was about to be taken to the hospital. As loud sirens buzzed in my mind, I immediately got off my motorcycle. I removed my helmet when we arrived at Alco Hospital.

I was covered in blood, and my hands were covered in blood as well. When we arrived at the hospital, the nurses and doctors began to rush towards us.

The paramedics assisted Jullie on the stretcher as we made our way to the hospital's emergency room.

I followed them to the emergency room, and as I looked at Jullie, I began to cry again. I was nervous because I had no idea what they were doing to her.

The doctor shocked Jullie and attempted to revive her with the defibrillator.

"Clear!" The doctor stated as he shocked Jullie, that they examined the life support system but found no sign of life in her.

They tried for the second time, and there was no life sign for the third time.

I saw that the doctor did everything he could, and he eventually ceased his work.

"Time of death, 12:30 am. December 25, 2021," I overheard the nurse say as they covered Jullie and escorted me to the doctor. I couldn't believe that this was happening to me.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we did everything we could," the doctor said as I stared at the lifeless body of Jullie.

"We are unable to save her life due to multiple organ failures and massive trauma injury. We tried everything we could. Her injuries, however, are fatal." The doctor said, I was speechless, stunned by what happened.

"The hospital will arrange for the necessary documents for her. My condolences, sir. I will give you some time to call her loved ones once again." The doctor stated that I was in such shock that I could not speak as the doctor left.

I obliterated the cover from Jullie's body, and when the nurses left, I touched her cheek and sobbed even harder because I was in so much pain.

"Why did you leave so soon? When you know I will be miserable without you, I'm not sure how I'll ever be happy again!" I yelled and removed the gift I intended to give her from my pocket.

"Look at this. I bought what you wanted for the two of us," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks as I opened the box containing the couple of rings.

"How am I going to give it to you now that you're not here anymore?" I cried, saying this to her as I picked up my phone. I was still shaking when I texted my mother to inform her that I was in the hospital and to tell her that Jullie had passed away due to an accident.

While I waited for mom in the hallway, the nurses moved Jullie into the morgue. I was staring and unsure of what to do.

After minutes flew by, I heard mom and dad's voices along the hospital hallway.

"What happened, son?! Are you all right?" When Mom inquired, I immediately hugged her, but I could not speak because I was in a state of shock as my mom hugged me tightly in her arms.

"Everything will be fine, son. You can do it," Mom said weakly.

I'm not sure if I can handle it, but I'll try because Jullie told me before that we have to live and continue our lives and have a stable job when one of us is gone. But right now, I don't know what to do.

"Do you want some water? Is anything hurting in your body," Mom inquired I was unable to answer her.

"If you want to see Jullie, she is in the hospital morgue," I said to my mother and father, who noticed my pale face.

After a minute, we returned to the hospital morgue to see Jullie's body once more as my mother and father sobbed and said their final goodbyes to her.

The Mortician took the lid back to Jullie, and I slid the box with the couple rings back into my pocket before sitting down and pulling my hair hard. I wanted to hurt myself. I should have just picked her up to avoid the accident, and I should have taken better care of her.

"I called Jullie's family, and they're on their way. Don't blame yourself for what happened, Jasper," Dad said as he sat down next to me.

"Would you like us to talk first? Or do you need some time alone," Dad inquired.

"I want to be alone first. I am sorry, dad." I told Dad as he stood up and patted my shoulder.

"We will be here always," My father said as he walked away from me.

I heard my phone ring, and when I thought Jullie had posted that she was ready to meet me, I grabbed her belongings; I took her phone and opened it.

Her phone password is our anniversary, and I smiled a little because I saw our pictures in her phone gallery.

I left the hospital and rode my motorcycle to where we were hanging out.

When I arrived at the Alco Playground, I sat on the bench and started picking the rose petals. I eventually noticed the steady sound of my phone and the fact that my hand was sore from holding the rose.

And the wind blew all the petals I had removed, and I looked at Jullie's phone again. I clicked on her draft message, and I was surprised to find audio that had not been sent to me. I listened to it one by one, but almost everything about her saying

‘I love you and goodnight’ to me, and there was a time duration of 30 minutes recorded audio here.

"Jasper, I'm not sure why I'm recording this, but I want you to know that you are important to me and that if the day comes when I'm no longer here, you will be able to hear my recorded voice. I love you so much that I want you to be okay when I disappear and to continue doing what you do, like painting the places we visit. I want you to live with me, but maybe it's impossible for me to disappear because you're always with me! That's all I have to say about how much I love you!" My tears flowed as I listened to that, and the record ended.
