It's 6:00am Monday morning, the Alarm clock rang waking a pretty girl from her beautiful sleep. She yawns while sitting up on her bed stretching her hands and rubbing her eye with a finger.
Her room is the perfect one for a girl. The walls have some cartoon decorations, at the left side of the room is a reading table with a chair underneath it, a window revealing the outside , a bed with teddy bears and many things you can imagine and everything is colored in pink and white.
Darnisha!!!! Her mum called from the kitchen. Get up from that bed now and take your bath, you are going to be late dear, her mum shouts from the kitchen. Alright! Alright mum I'll soon be ready, she said while standing up from the bed. She heads straight to the bathroom and brush her teeth then take her bath. 20 minutes has passed and Darnisha is still in the bathroom showering and singing. Oh not again darnish , said her mum and she go straight to Darnisha's room and knock on the bathroom door.
Darnisha!! Come out now you are going to be late !! Her mum shout at her. I'm coming mum, She said while trying a towel. She come out of the bathroom shining like a bright star and smiling at her mum. Here I am mum , she said with a smile on her face revealing her dimple. 20 minutes for bathing, 5 minutes for standing in front of the mirror , 10 minutes to dress up and 5 minutes to come down for breakfast and you end up missing the bus, her mum said looking at her sternly. she smile again combing her hair and say to her mum, common mum don't be angry, I'll soon come down for breakfast and I'll not miss the bus today. Her mum look at her and shake her head then go back to the kitchen." You are always going to school late Darnisha, hurry up and come down for breakfast now. If you stay in that room for long, you will walk to school because the bus will not wait for you" her mum said while going to the kitchen.
Oh I hate Mondays , Darnisha said while dressing up. She puts on a white tshirt with a pink flower on a pink skirt and white sneakers, then she take her school bag and head straight to the dining table situates in the kitchen. She sit down on one of the chairs leaving the other one for her mum , then her mum turn from the cooker and place a cup of tea and fried egg on the table. Darnisha look at the plate and heave a sigh," tea and fried egg again" she said to herself.can I have a bread please , mum? She said to her mum sipping a tea. Her mum heave a sigh and say, we are out of bread Darnisha. She look at her mum and say "not again" feeling disappointed.
Her mum see the expression on her face and she say to her, "do not worry Darnisha, you will eat a bread tomorrow". Okay mum, she said while standing up from the chair, picking up her bag. "I'm off to school mum, see you later " . She said while waving to her mum. Before Darnisha reach the bus stop, the bus has left." Oh not again" she then look down at her legs and smile " I guess you two are ready to walk to school" she said while smiling and walking. She walks down the street thinking about her life and talking to herself.
Darnisha and her mum have been living in a small house with two small rooms, a small sitting room and a mini kitchen which they also put a table with two chairs use as a dining table. Her mum work as a cleaner in a company situated not far from their house, She has been living with her mum as long as she can remember. Darnisha always wonder who her Dad is, how he looks like, if he is Rich or poor, she always think if she really have a dad because they are really suffering, She want to know who her father is but she can't find the courage to ask her mum. She was always bullied while still in kindergarten by her class mates because she doesn't have a father. Most of the kids will purposely pick a fight with Darnisha to see her cry because she's a cry baby. " Are you really sure you have a father?" Adrian said to Darnisha . "Does she look like she have a father to you?" Linda said wrapping her arms around Darnisha's shoulder and everyone burst into laughter.
"Hey Darnisha!! Hurry up" her friend shouts her name. Darnisha look up and was surprise to have reach school ." You are late again Darnisha" Mira said looking at Darnisha who isn't paying any attention to her, Darnisha walk towards her friend heads down still thinking about her life when suddenly she bump into three ladies walking to her direction. "Oh not again" Darnisha murmured to herself.
" Are you blind , Darnisha? Can't you walk straight?" One of the girls said with an angry face. "I'm so sorry Lilly" Darnisha apologize to the girl in the middle who look at Darnisha surprisingly " so it's you Darnisha , aren't you ashame of yourself to have bumped into me?" She said pointing to herself " This is Monday Darnisha, control yourself" she said while touching Darnisha's cheeks and the other girls laugh and walk away.
Mira walk to where Darnisha is standing and holds her cheek up " It's okay Darnisha, let's go" Darnisha look up and smile to mira revealing her dimples . " I guess you missed the bus again?" " Yap " Darnisha answered smiling. " Common this is 10:00 am , you have already missed a class" Mira said dragging Darnisha by the hand to the class. "Hey Mira" a guy said waving at mira, " hey Luca " Mira wave back without smilling. " Hey Darnisha, what's wrong you look pale ? " " It's nothing Luca" Darnisha answered looking at mira and Luca .
" Did you bumped into the three musketeers again this morning?" He said smilling. Darnisha sigh " yeah Luca, you guessed right", " I knew it , so sorry Darnisha those girls are rude", " it's okay Luca, I'm fine". Mira seeing their conversations going deeper interrupt " see you later Luca , we are late for class" she said while dragging Darnisha away. " See you later Mira" Luca wave. " Common Mira, why are you snubbing Luca? He's such a nice guy" Mira pause and look at Darnisha " yea he's a nice guy but I don't like him" mouth agasp Darnisha turn to Mira " why dont you like him? " I don't know, let's go Darnisha". said Mira turning away , " hey wait for me Mira" Darnisha said running after Mira who is already at the door of the classroom. Mira open the door of the classroom and shut it again, " common Mira, don't shut the door. and she shut it" Darnisha said putting her palm over her face. " Eissshhhh who is that, can't you see? Oh not you again Darnisha " Lilly said angrily holding her head with her hand, " what's wrong with you Darnisha, did you have anything against me this morning? This is the second time and the day is not yet over. I guess you are going to do worse to me today" Lilly said angrily hands on her waist.." I..I'm. I'm.. so..sorry Lilly" Darnisha stammered " I'm sorry, I didn't know you where coming", " oh shut it Darnisha just shut your mouth, you always don't know anything, I guess that was the reason why your father left you, You are just as dumb as ..." " It's okay Lilly, don't speak to Darnisha like that she's not a kid anymore" Luca interrupted ." And what is your business Luca, is Darnisha your girlfriend" Lilly turn to the class " oh Darnisha have a boyfriend" and everyone burst into laughter except Mira and Luca. Mira ran to the door and drag Darnisha out of the classroom , " it's okay Darnisha, don't cry" Mira said rubbing Darnisha's back " you know how Lilly talks all the time don't let it get into you, just becareful not to bump into her next time dear , Avoid Lilly she's a bad girl". Darnisha clean her face and turn to her friend Mira "I am always careful not to bump into Lilly but I always end up bumping into her, I don't know why Lilly hates me so much, she always look for a way to insult me." Mira wipe the tears on Darnisha's face " it's okay Darnisha "
"Hey Darnisha, I'm sorry about what happened in the classroom you know how Lilly behaves all the time , don't let it get into you dear" Mary said tapping Darnisha's back. Mira turn to Mary's direction with an angry face " But you laughed back then when Lilly made jest of Darnisha, didn't you?" Mira said pointing to the classroom " oh Mira, that was so funny" Mary said laughing and waving her hand " it's not funny marry, it's not", " oh okay I'm so sorry Dear", " you better be" Mira said with a smirk. Marry then look at Darnisha and say " Darnisha dear, are you and Luca a couple ? You two look cute together", " get out of here marry, I see you are here to make jest of Darnisha" Mira said pushing marry away. " Oh geeze this girl is just a pain , I should have known her by now". " Oh well I guess this is my life" Darnisha sigh and walk away, " wait up Darnisha" Mira ran after her." Go back to the classroom Mira, you will miss a lecture " Darnisha said to Mira who is running towards her, " it's okay Darnisha, you are my dear best friend and I can't leave you alone" Darnisha smile revealing both of her dimples " thank you Mira "she said. " awwn I love your dimples Darnisha, I don't know why I don't have it" she said touching her cheeks which make Darnisha laugh . "Thank you for always making me happy Mira, you are the best", " Don't worry Darnisha, I will always do anything to make you happy. Let's go to the cafeteria I'm starving" Mira said rubbing her Tommy " and don't worry , it's on me Darnisha" Mira said holding Darnisha's hand " thank you Mira" Darnisha smiles.
At the cafeteria, Mira and Darnisha are sitting facing each other . On the table in their middle is Two bowl of spicy ramen and a pot of tofu soup boiling on a low eat with two glasses of water. " I love spicy ramen" Mira said sniffing " I like it so spicy, pass me the water Darnisha" Mira said fanning herself. Darnisha passed the water to Mira and when she was about to drink water her phone rang " who's that , Darnisha? Mira said looking up and smiling " common Mira , it's my mum" , " I thought you have a boyfriend without telling me" Mira said laughing. " You know I won't do that" Darnisha said while answering the phone. " Hi mum, okay mum I love you too" Darnisha said over the phone and her countenance change. " What's wrong Darnisha, why the face? " It's my mum Mira", " what happened to her?" ," Nothing, she said I should go home on time she will be late", " oh dear, is that why you want to cry? Mummy's baby" Mira tease . " Common Mira, I'll be so lonely", " Don't worry, maybe she got another job" " yea I think so". " Let's finish this food fast, I want to go shopping" Mira said dipping her spoon into the tofu soup. " Oh my gosh, I love this soup. It's so delicious, I can eat it everyday" Mira said during the soul quickly and eating the tofu." You are going to Chuck Mira, eat slowly" Darnisha said holding Mira's hand who is about to put another spoonful of tofu soup into her mouth. " Leave my hand alone Darnisha, eat quickly and let's go." Mira said pushing Darnisha's hand away.
