Jasmine Brook slowly regained her senses, and she could hear the sound of the bathroom’s shower running. Her face was still flushed but there was no emotion in her eyes as she stared blankly up at the ceiling.
It wasn’t until she heard the vague sound of the bathroom door being opened that she sat up from the bed.
When Jasmine turned around, she had already concealed her real expression, and smiled coyly like she always did, “Mr. Clinton, you've really gone overboard. You did not inform me in advance, and came over in the middle of the night…”
There was even a hint of grievance in her tone.
Paul Clinton was drying his hair. His muscular figure was wrapped by a bathrobe and its collar was slightly open.
When he heard her, he looked up at the woman.
Her acting skills were getting more and more proficient. It’s been more than a year that they have been together! Did she still think that he wasn't aware that she had been acting all this time?
Paul's lips curled but he did not expose her act. Instead, he spoke in a cold and low voice, “I’ll be gentler next time.”
With that said, he threw the towel on the bed, opened the wardrobe and took out a pair of trousers. Then, he removed his bathrobe.
"Mr. Clinton, since we met before you went overseas last month, it’s been more than a month..." Jasmine got down from the bed, walked over, and hugged him from behind. "You’re just going to leave when you’re here for barely an hour?”
"Please leave tomorrow morning instead,” Jasmine cajoled like a spoiled child. “Spend more time with me. Don't you know, I dream about you every night, Mr. Clinton."
Paul turned and grabbed Jasmine's mischievous hand and pressed her against the wardrobe. His sharp gaze swept across her alluring face and then onto her flawless body.
Jasmine was not only beautiful, but also well-versed at observing his every mood. Therefore, even after being with him for so long, she could still please him both physically and mentally.
Paul caressed her's chin and asked in a light tone, "Jasmine, how long have you been with me?"
"It's been almost a year." A glint of light flashed within her eyes, before she asked with a faint smile, "Mr. Clinton, why are you asking this? Could it be that you're tired of me?"
She thought that she had hidden her emotions well, unaware that the man in front of her had seen through it all.
"I'll ask my assistant to contact you when the time comes."
Paul didn't give her a direct answer. He just took out his wallet from the pocket of his suit jacket. Then, he pulled out a cheque he had prepared in advance.
Jasmine took it with a faint smile, "Thank you, Mr. Clinton!"
She didn’t even spare a look at the amount on the cheque. She merely planted a kiss on it, like a typical gold digger, and placed it on top of a cabinet. Still completely naked, she then left Paul and headed straight for the bathroom.
Soon after Jasmine filled the tub full of water and lay down in it, she faintly heard the sound of a door being closed.
She leaned back in the bathtub with her eyes shut, her mind going over what Paul meant with his words earlier. It’s been a year, hence when the time comes, they would bid each other goodbye?
Well, that would be exactly what Jasmine wanted.
A year ago, she had suffered a double betrayal and nearly jumped off a building. However, she gained an epiphany at that critical moment...
Alas, why should she die? She had to live well and get close to the most powerful man around in order to take her revenge against those who had scorned her!
However, to this day Jasmine had yet to find her mother's murderer. Furthermore, as she got along with Paul, she knew that he was not as easy to deal with as she had imagined. Hence, the idea to retreat from this entanglement gradually manifested in her mind.
If she hadn't signed the one-year contract, she would have already left long ago.
The next day, her alarm clock rang. No matter how hard she had been tormented in bed the previous night, or how tired she was, Jasmine still got up immediately.
She took half an hour to freshen up and change her outfit. Then, she hurried out of her door.
Sky TV Station
One year ago, Jasmine had gained employment with the Sky TV Station through Paul's connections.
She did not rest on her laurels, however. With her excellent appearance and brilliant eloquence, she quickly shot up in fame through two variety shows and became the top star of the TV station.
On this day, she had to go to the TV station earlier to welcome some special guests. The shooting for this program was scheduled to end quite late in the day.
While on her way to the TV station, Jasmine turned on her mobile phone and saw an unread message sent by Galina Baker. She clicked on it and saw that it was a video.
