**Diana's POV**
As the bell chimed for the last class of the day, I felt excited since it focused on my preferred subject about weapons. As the only human allowed into the Weapon Manufacturing Academy at Champions Academy, I face many issues, such as envy and bullying.
I was about to take out my newly made weapon when I felt something cold on my neck. I froze that very instant and slowly raised my head up. To my utmost terror, it was none other than my seatmate, Prisca Malcolm. She had a smirk on her face with a sharp silver sword directed to my neck.
“What is the meaning of this, Prisca?” I asked in a low tone.
“What do you think? This is a new weapon and I forgot to test it at home. Now that Mr. Jordan will be coming to see what weapons we made and how good they are, I need someone to test it for me.” She said, resting the sword more on my neck like she was going to cut me.
“I don't know what you think you're doing, Prisca, but this isn't funny!”
She burst into laughter and so did her minions behind her with their hands folded on their chests.
“So she could be scared as well?” one of the boys in class asked, and they all bursts out laughing. I folded my hands into a tight fist while staring at them.
“You don't belong here, Diana. I told you this from the start, but you thought I was joking.”
I blinked, but tried not to let her words affect me.
“Look around you,” she said, swirling her finger around the classroom. I didn't bother to look, knowing everyone around me are all the children of lycans werewolves while I was the only human in their midst.
“Do you think you qualify to be here?” She asked. And just like I said, I'm not going to let her words get to me. Just then, she leaned into me and positioned her lips to my ears, “if I were you, I'll leave now that it's not too late. Your refusal would cost you, Diana. Do not say I did not warn you.”
I looked up at her, currently, with my chin held high, “I'm here because of my ability. What about you, if not for the fact that you're a Lycan, is there another reason that qualifies you?”
When I said this, the class instantly fell silent. The look of satisfaction on Prisca’s face suddenly turned dark, and I knew I had just hit a sore spot. But it was never my fault, though.
“How dare you!” She was about to slash me with the sword when the teacher suddenly stormed into the room. And when he saw this, he went wide, “What in the world do you think you're doing, Prisca?!” She froze at the words of the teacher, and slowly pulled the sword away from my neck.
“Now, everyone, bring out your weapons for testing.”
Mr. Bellamy, instructed. Everyone quickly brought out their weapons for testing. After glancing at the shiny weapons of my classmates, I heaved a deep sigh.
“Miss Diana, where is your weapon?”
Mr. Bellamy asked, and I quickly lifted my gaze towards him at once.
Just then, everyone burst out laughing.
“I'm sure she couldn't think of any weapon to make,” Prisca murmured the words while eyeing me with irritation.
I overlooked her vile words and quickly shoved my hand into my bag and brought out my weapon which was a gold colored two-edged dagger.
When I placed it on my desk, everyone gasped. Mr. Bellamy immediately walked over to my desk and picked up the dagger at once.
“What did you make?”
“An electric double-edged dagger.”
“What?!” he exclaimed, staring at the dagger. Immediately, he began testing the dagger. There was a red switch which, when turned on, made the dagger emit electric current. “Woah!” Mr. Bellamy exclaimed. Did you really do this, Diana?”
I simply just nodded my head without saying a word.
He nodded his head while looking at me with satisfaction.
“As expected of our most brilliant student. Excellent!” He exclaimed.
Now, if it were a Lycan who did an impressive job, they would have cheered for him or her. But because I was human, I didn't even get an applause, and that was fine.
The bell rang after the class and just as I was about to leave with the others, Mr. Bellamy called out, “Diana!” I quickly turned around to face him with my bag in hand.
“Do not forget you'll be tested today, so be prepared,” he stated with a polite smile.
“Of course,” I returned the smile even though I was faking it.
I left class and went straight to the computer room to relieve my stress. It is my birthday today, which means I'll be undergoing genetic testing to find out if I'll be mated to a Lycan. For fuck’s sake! I truly hope that doesn't happen. I detest the Lycans, and being mated to any is something I never wish for.
I switched on my favorite computer in the computer room and went straight to my chats. Luckily, Taylor had already dropped a message for me, and he's online as well.
“Hey, T, I'm here!” I wrote.
“Finally! How was class?”
“Uhm…” I trailed off, trying to think of a better word to use without adding the fact that I was bullied.
“Was it bad? Were you bullied?” Taylor typed immediately.
“Hell no, who would dare do that to me?” I asked, pretending to be okay.
“Oh, that's alright. I just left the Combat Command Department. I'm going for training in the fields.”
“Wow…that's nice!” I replied.
“Lest I forget. How are you preparing for the genetic testing? I mean, you're 18 today, remember?”
“Well…it's not taking place until this evening and I wish I don't have to be tested to be a Lycan's mate!” I wrote with irritation.
“Oh come on, Diana, lycans are not that bad, you know.”
“Don’t give me that crap, Taylor. You are lucky to have no linking with the lycans. How I envy you.”
“You do?” Taylor asked.
“Of course…I wish I didn't have to undergo that test. I don't even want to be tested, not to talk about becoming a Lycan's mate!”
“It's not that bad, Diana. I hope you'll understand that there are good and bad ones.”
Taylor will never understand. Though, he's been my online friend in the champions academy for over a year now, but we've never met for once in real life.
Moreover, the reason I detest the Lycans was because my father disappeared and was said to have been killed by the Lycans. The reason I'm so focused on weapon making was because I needed to develop a weapon that could actually destroy Lycans and to help the human race obtain their freedom.
Good thing I was good in my academics, which had earned me the privilege of studying in the school’s library where I accidentally laid my hands on a history book that talks about the world before the Lycan rule came into existence.
This forbidden book has been my source of inspiration and I believe that by working hard constantly, I'll be able to achieve my goal of getting rid of the Lycans!
