Luke rushed down to the to his room to get his jacket and headed out the front door shutting it as he ran off the porch. he was late for the Winston's family meeting being held on at Valerie's parents house.
"Valerie, come over here please." Valerie stepped forward with a prolonged smile on her face. she was busy entertaining the affluent amount of guests, who had shown up at their house for the party for the great success in their families business, when she heard her mother's voice.
"this is Kubo, Mr Madison's son," Mrs Winston said "you two could get to know each other better before we announce the engagement." she giggled.
unlike other loyal wives, Valerie seemed to fall in love with Kubo instantly. she wished she could run her fingers through his thick long brown hair, and kiss his glossy pink lips. and Kubo didn't seem to worried about their parents decision either.
"see this as a chance to get divorced with Luke and finally be free from that worthless leach," Mrs Winston muttered. "he has been feeding on our families wealth for too and it's about time we got rid of him."
"don't worry mom, I already got the divorce papers ready to be signed by_" Valerie was interrupted by a loud knock on the door. and without any answer, the door opened it self. it was Luke.
"ugh, who invited this loser, he's not supposed to be associating with people as extravagant as us." Mrs Madison said.
all eyes point to him. Luke began to feel a mixture of anger and shame. he wanted to enter the ground.
"uhm, Mrs Winston, invited me, and I feel like I have every right to be here as much as most of you." he stared deep into Mrs Madison's plane cold face. she turned to Mrs Winston, who had a smirk on her face.
"welcome Luke, we have been expecting you, what took you so long." Mrs Winston said.
every one looked shocked, including Luke. he was the most surprised because, never in the five years of him being an in-law to the Winston's had Kelly Winston been nice to him, talk less of even being welcoming. All except for Valerie were still left with their jaws far apart. Valerie also had a smirk on her face. everything was going according to planned.
Luke shifted his gaze from Mrs Winston and the rest of the startling crowd. he scanned the room for Valerie and notices her and Kubo holding hands. he look puzzled. why would his lawfully wedded wife be holding hands with a guy he had never seen or heard of before. "could she be cheating?" he asked himself. he quickly cleared all bad thoughts.
he walked over to their table, pulled out a rose from his jacket and handed it over to Valerie who started to look more and more irritated as he came closer. she didn't want any unnecessary drama on such a fine night.
"oh fuck you," Valerie slapped the rose out of his hand. "who do you think you are?," she tightened her grip around kubo's arm. "you think you would have a place in this family, you think you can continue leaching unto us." she pulled out the divorce papers out of her expensive Hermes bag and placed it on the counter. she pulled out a pen from her bag and tossed it at his expressionless face.
"what is this Valerie?" he stared coldly at the already signed divorce papers.
"it's a divorce paper, she's tired of having to live with you and feed your poor mouth and wants to be with someone much better than you." Mrs Winston said, her voice sounded like as if aimed at mocking Luke.
every one soon shifted their gaze at the commotion.
"why Valerie?. why are you doing this to me. we have been happily married for five, years and I tried my bst to give you the best treatment any wife could ask for. and this is how you say thank you, by cheating on me?"
Luke Lakewood stood inside the house, his eyes blood shot. he was shouting at Valerie.
Luke's mind buzzed. he stumbled, all he wanted was for Valerie to give him an explanation. to tell him that this was a misunderstanding. even if it was just a lie. yet, all he had gotten was a demand to divorce.
"thank you?" Valerie looked stunned. "you are the one who is supposed to be saying thank you. for five years now, I have been the one taking care of your jobless butt. I can't believe I even agreed to get married to you. I was just blinded by the fake love." she said in disgust as the little giggles and scoffs from the crowd grew into blaring laughter.
Luke had noticed Valerie's strange and different attitude towards him lately and was planning on discussing it this night but it seemed like it would be of no use anymore. he just wanted to get out of there as fast as he could. he picked up the pen and looked at Valerie's cold and unsympathetic look and laughing Kubo by her side, she was such a a heartless woman. he no longer held out hope for her. "you've changed so much Valerie. sometimes, I even wonder if you're really the girl from my memories."
"what the hell are you talking about, if you are just trying to delay the inevitable, I would advise you to cut the crap." Valerie snapped. what "girl was he talking about? she had never met him before their marriage.
"Luke didn't answer her. instead, he made a final confirmation. "do you really want a divorce?"
"absolutely!" Valerie said resolutely.
" if this is what you want, I hope you won't regret your decision now that we are divorced."
"what the fuck do you mean by that Luke? there is no way I'm ever going to regret getting a divorce."
after signing it, he put the pen down and threw the divorce agreement at Valerie.
he said coldly"as you wish then."
As soon as luke stepped out, his phone started ringing and two rows of SUV's came in his direction. they stopped before him.
