Introduction
I'm Elena James. I used to be a school bella but now I'm an ugly and fat housewife who has been married for three years. When my husband knew I conceived his baby, he deliberately kicked me violently and caused me to miscarry, because he had an affair with a rich woman. Filling with resentment and despair, I turned to Mr. Jones, the only one who was powerful enough to avenge me in this city. And I determined to give him everything if he could help me. However, he didn't want my life or my money. To my surprised, he asked me to do him a favor--to be his girlfriend. "I'll help you get your revenge, and your life belongs to me. If someone shoots at me one day, you have to take the bullet for me. Understand?"

He kicked me violently in my pregnant belly with his shiny leather shoes. I fell to the ground, clutching my abdomen and screaming in pain.

Warm blood began to pool in my pants. I looked up in despair at him, his face expressionless and remorseless.

Over the past three years, I had given my all to this man.

I once thought that having him by my side meant having the world, and we'd grow old together.

In the end, I was just being delusional. The only thing I got in return was a torturous stab in the back.

It turned out that he had been having an affair. She came from a wealthy and powerful background.

For the sake of his future and wealth, he had, without hesitation, thrown me and our marriage under the bus.

However, I did not shed a tear for him. I simply stared into his eyes to find even a slither of humanity left in him.

Perhaps he was a little frightened by my cold stare. Then he grabbed me by my collar.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Listen to me, Elena James! Everything happening now is all your fault! Look at yourself, you're as fat as a pig, and you don't even know anything about sex! What else do you know other than cooking?"

"I asked you to get rid of the baby, why didn't you do it?"

"All of this is your own fault!"

After he roared at me fiercely, he threw me hardly to the ground.

He didn't seem to be satisfied. He continued to kick at my abdomen, which had already gone numb with pain.

"Oh..."

I took a deep breath, my heart and body shaking from the pain.

I had fallen to rock bottom, and my despair transformed into hatred.

With some inexplicable strength, I gritted my teeth and got to my feet.

My eyes calmly focused on the man I had once loved for many years.

I said to him, "Ryan Carter, heed my words. You will reap what you sow, justice shall come for you in one shape or the other."

"I swear, as long as I'm alive, I won't let you off the hook."

Just as I finished speaking, I felt something flowing down my thighs.

I knew that it was my child.

With an ashen face, I dragged my bloody body to the door.

Before I could take more than a few steps, Ryan grabbed my arm in a death grip.

"Elena, I'm warning you, stay away from me. If you dare to appear in front of me again, don't blame me for the things that I'll do. Don't forget, you still have a disabled sister."

I couldn't believe that he'd still be using my sister to threaten me at a time like this.

I turned around slowly, my eyes bloodshot.

However, I still smiled.

"Oh really? Let's see who'll have the last laugh."

I forcefully shook off Ryan's hand and left the home I had all but given everything up for with my head held high.

One week later.

I stood outside one of the private rooms in a bar. Looking at my reflection in the golden door, I knew that even my body was worthless now.

However, I still had to give it a shot. No matter what it took, I had to find someone to support me. After all, the Lawson family was too powerful, and an abandoned housewife such as me had no way to go up against the current Ryan.

That was why I was here, to beg the man in Gavilla City who wasn't intimidated by the Lawson family.

His name was Napoleon Jones, but most people addressed him as Mr. Jones.

I had never met him before, but from what I'd heard, Napoleon was the type of man that caught your attention, even in a crowd of people.

After steeling myself, I pushed the door open.

The spacious room was filled with smoke, blaring music, alcohol, and beautiful women. It made for such an extravagant scene.

All I was wearing, however, was an oversized shirt. I stood out like a sore thumb.

The moment I stepped into the room and saw the man with a cold expression being circled by several beautiful women, I understood just what it meant by Napoleon being able to catch one's attention.

Although the surroundings were loud and noisy, he sat on the couch like a king on his throne. He was wearing a white shirt with the collar wide open, giving off a chilling aura.

His legs were crossed. One hand held a cigarette, while another held onto a woman's waist.

Although there was a smile on his face, his eyes were cold and emotionless.

"Mr. Jones..."

I plucked up all my courage and tried to speak to him.

However, before I could say anything, one of the girls came up to me.

"Ma'am, aren't you supposed to be outside, cleaning the floors? Who let you in here? Get out."

The girl looked at me with disgust as if she was looking at a piece of trash.

Her words caught everyone's attention.

Their eyes fell on me, including Napoleon.

I took a step back timidly, but since I was already here, I could not leave without accomplishing anything.

I calmed myself down and met Napoleon's cold and sharp stare.

"I, I'm not a cleaner. I'm here to look for Mr. Jones."

For a few seconds, there was silence.

A moment later, the room burst into condescending laughter.

"Ma'am, did you just say you're here to see Mr. Jones? What a joke! Why don't you take a look at yourself in the mirror? Do you think you're qualified to talk to Mr. Jones?"

"That's right, Ma'am. Get out of here! Mr. Jones doesn't have time to talk to an old lady like you."

I was at a loss for words.

I was being humiliated by these young girls.

Throughout the whole debacle, Napoleon just sat on his throne in silence, smoking his cigarette relaxedly.

There was a hint of emotion in his eyes that I could not read.

Was he smiling? Was he not? I couldn't be sure.

"Mr. Jones!"

While everyone continued to humiliate me, I shouted loudly. At that moment, two men started to drag me out of the room.

I struggled with all my strength and screamed with all my might.

"Mr. Jones, as long as you're willing to help me, I'll do anything for you. I will give up my life for you, Mr. Jones..."

Before I could finish what I was saying, I was already dragged out of the room.

That wasn't it, and the security guards who had rushed over grabbed me by my arms. The next thing I knew was that I was thrown out of the bar.

I sat there, under the dazzling light. The cold autumn breeze blew on my face, and I finally came back to my senses.

What had I expected? How could someone like Napoleon, who had it all, be in need of something as worthless as my life?

How had it occurred to me to ask him for help? How naive I was!

I hugged my knees tightly. It was the first time that I had felt like I did not want to live anymore.

I couldn't tell how much time went by. WhenI I wiped my tears and lifted my head to stand up, I noticed a man standing in front of me.

His legs were slender and long. His arm, which fell by his side, held a cigarette.

"The things you said just now, do they still count? Will you really give up your life for me if I just help you out?"
