Staring at the wide-open door seemed weird. She looked in her palm, saw blood dripping down on the floor.
"B-blood," She said with a cracking voice trying to wipe.
As soon as she was done, she felt dizzy. The next thing, she was in deep slumber. What had happened?
"Irene!" Her mother called out approaching the door. She saw blood on the ground. "Oh no, again?"
She rushed to her trying to feel her pulse. No sign of breathing showed.
"Irene, Irene wake up!"
Tears strimmed down her cheeks. She was a single mother dumped but a rich husband who left her for some prostitutes. She loved her husband so much but to no avail.
If the was a person whom she depended on was Irene who was lying half-dead at this moment.
She took out a phone from her pocket and dialed a number.
"Yes Ms. Mathias." said the Caller
"Doctor, it has happened again."
"What? I'm coming."
In no time the Doctor had arrived with his equipment. He placed them on the table and took out only a stethoscope.
Checking Irene's heartbeat, he froze.
"What did she eat?" He asked.
"Supper only."
"Okay."
He kept doing his job. A couple of minutes later, he removed the stethoscope around his neck and placed it on the table.
"Ms. Mathias, your child doesn't have any problem."
"What do you mean?"
"She's perfectly alright." He prescribed the medicines and left.
Ms. Mathias gazed at her daughter hopelessly. This has been happening ever since her husband left her 4 months ago. Now she doesn’t know what to do. The agony she is feeling seeing her daughter in this condition is unbearable.
"You'll be fine." She said caressing her hair, "I'll take you to a traditional doctor."
She hesitated to leave her daughter in the room isolated. She squashed herself on the side of the bed, Facing her daughter.
Just before she could close her eyes, she noticed Irene’s legs moving. Could she wait any longer? She removed her blanket hurriedly.
"Ireen, have you woken up?"
"Mom," She's said weakly trying to sit upright.
"No, no. Let me help you."
Sitting upright, Ireen looked at her Mother.
"Why do I keep shedding blood when I'm bruiseless?"
"Don't worry."
"No, mom." She looked in her palm, "I can feel my blood running through my veins. What's happening to me?"
"Are you hungry?" She asked trying to bury Irene’s questions.
"I'm not."
"You should sleep."
"I can't sleep on my own. I keep on having nightmares. I'm scared."
Ms. Mathias smiled trying hard to hide the pain
"How can you be scared when I, your mother is here?"
"I know. It's just that I feel like I'm dying slow-"
"Irene!" Ms. Mathias yelled interrupting Irene, "Never say those words ever again. Do you want to see me dead?"
She shook her head vigorously.
"I would never want that."
"Go to sleep and pray to God."
She nodded her head.
The moment her Mom had gone out, the room turned black. She could not see anything.
"Mom!" it was of no use. Her voice became inaudible.
Trying to pull the blanket she felt a hand moving onto her body. As soon as she stood up, the lights were turned on.
"What's happening? I'm leaving this ro-” Before she could finish the sentence, her head began to pain.
She tripped and fell on the floor. Crawling trying to get on the bed, she fell asleep. Was it an illusion?
