Long ago, there was a boy. Who dreamed of being a dragon rider. He was feared by many, not because he was ruthless, but because he was the son of a very powerful king. A king, who ruled over a kingdom of people called, the Chandra.
A kingdom called, Cralnes. With hair that shared the silver color of the moon and eyes that shined like the stars. But he was unaware of his birth right, because he grew up in an orphanage where the humans built their villages, towns, and castles.
“You mean, King Amir Draheirn? The man I was named after?”
“Yes, my dear, now hush, and listen to the story.”
The boy had hair the color of freshly fallen snow, and dark violet eyes. His beauty was that of a woman’s, but he was never treated with kindness of any kind.
He read books about dragons made of storms and lightning. Dragons made of fire and ash. And the rare, white dragon that was the ruler of all dragons. The queen.
“Mummy, I thought there were dragons made of bones and flowers too?” The small child looked up at his mother, as she read him a story that was written many years ago.
“Oh, there are, my dear. There are dragons made of ice and snow. Even ones made out of gems. Like the great onyx dragon who could use its sharp tail to pierce through anything.”
“Then, what about the dragons made of tornados? Did they exist too?”
“Why of course they did my love.” His mother leans down and whispers. “You know, I heard rumors that they still exist. Hiding in a place no one can get to. A place, only dragons are allowed to enter.”
“Really? Can we go there some day?”
“Unfortunately, no. We have no dragons to show us the way.” She said, sitting back against the headboard of her son’s bed.
“What happened to them?”
“No one knows. The last recorded sighting was three hundred years ago. A man thought he saw the white dragon, with a man with hair like snow riding on its back.”
“What happened to the man?”
“Some say he died in battle. Others say he still lives to this very day, protecting the dragons with his bonded dragon in the Cralnes kingdom. With his lovers and children. Though many believe, that if he did die, he would one day be reincarnated, and take to the skies again on the mythical queen of dragons.”
“Mummy, was the man, the boy who was the prince of Cralnes?”
“Yes.”
“How come, he grew up in an orphanage, instead of with his parents?”
“Hmm, well, no one really knows. Some say he was left there as a babe, because his parents died. Others say he was taken from his family. Either way, he was abused, and treated like a slave to the woman who ran it. Until one day, he was asked by the headmaster of Dagfynn Academy, to go there and learn how to ride and bond a dragon.”
“Wait, he went to THE Dagfynn Academy? The legendary academy of dragons? The one that is now used as a museum?”
His mother chuckles, “Yes.”
“Can we go there tomorrow?”
“You have school tomorrow, love.”
“Then can we go on Saturday?”
“We will see. Now go to sleep, it is past your bedtime.”
“But I want to hear more.”
“Tomorrow night. Goodnight, my little Amir.” She gently kisses his forehead, before blowing out the candle by his door.
“Goodnight, mummy.”
