Revenge

Introduction
During my university years, I essentially "purchased" a boyfriend. I agreed to cover his family's medical expenses as long as he stayed with me. Despite the humiliation, this brilliant yet impoverished student endured four years by my side. However, my family eventually went bankrupt. When we broke up, he remained distant, expressing no regret. Fast forward to the future, I found myself working at a bar to pay off my debts, while he had become a tech tycoon and was dating the most popular girl from our university years. One day, he asked me, "Do you have any regrets?" I responded, "No." His reply was, "But I do."

Chapter

In college, I 'bought' myself a boyfriend.

I paid the medical bills for his family as long as he stayed with me.

The poor genius had to stay with me for four years.

Then, my family went bankrupt.

I broke up with my boyfriend, and he remained cool and showed no signs of sadness.

Later, I worked as a waitress in a club, and he popped up as an upstart in the tech world. Moreover, his girlfriend was the former campus belle.

He asked me, "Are you regretful?"

"No."

"However, I am."

Never could I imagine that my reunion with Martin Smith would be in this way.

With the tray of fruit in my hands, I kept my head low for fear that he would recognize me.

Besides him was Stella Moore.

He was handsome, and she was pretty. What a perfect match!

"Waitress," Martin called me. "Please slice the orange."

With my back to him, I sliced the orange.

A long time ago, I was fond of oranges, and Martin would slice them for me considerately.

His knife skills were excellent, and eace slice of his orange was around the same size.

Back then, I thought that he loved me.

Later, I found that he had done so out of habit. When he sliced the orange, he thought of everything except me.

Only four years had passed, but I felt that the separation had last half of my lifetime.

The conversation in the room drifted toward the romance at campus.

A man said, "I heard that you had dated a girl for four years in college, Mr. Smith."

My hands froze in the air.

Martin hummed in response.

"Oh, four years, all your college days, right?"

Martin said nothing.

The atmosphere became a bit awkward, and the man tried to keep the conversation going. "A relationship of four years. It must be unforgettable, right?"

Silence pervaded.

After a long time, Martin chuckled.

"Not for me."
