My name is Susan. A successful criminal and defence lawyer in country K.

"Good morning, Sue", greeted Grace, my best friend and associate in the law firm. We had been friends since childhood and gone to school together. What a pair.

"Good morning, Grace" I replied.

"Do you have a black eye again? What did he do to you this time? When will you get tired of being his punching bag, huh?" Went on Grace.

"One question at a time, bestie. This time I think I'm getting tired because he slapped me Infront of the kids. I don't want them to grow up bitter or experience that kind of violence", I explained.

"Then leave for heaven's sake!" Howled Grace.

"I can't, I still love him and in all honesty, I don't have the time or will to start over" I said

Grace face palmed herself and said, "well, you can always choose to die, well conduct a beautiful funeral and he'll attend your funeral with the love of his life. You need to learn to.love yourself a little bit more, stupid". She was really annoying and sharp tounged.

I have to go to court so I just rolled my eyes and headed to my office. It's a specious and cozy office with a large mahogany table, a sofa and three office chairs. One for me and two reserved for my clients. I have a picture of me and my husband Mark on the table and one with the whole family. We looked really happy in the picture.

I reach down and pull the top drawer and get my make-up kit. I try as much as possible to hide the black spots on my face. I'm quite good with make-up so I do a great job but since I don't like heavy make-up, anyone that knows me can tell that I'm definitely hiding something.

I grab my files and shive them in the bag and head out. I yell out to my assistant and we head down to the office parking lot and hop in my BMW SUV. I prefer driving myself, clears my head so Sally, my assistant takes the passenger seat.

Smooth music is playing on the radio, I don't pay much attention because I have a lot on my mind.

Today's I'm supposed to represent a real estate business man accused of bullying a tenant. I never liked big shots and especially because he's the son of a top politician. That makes the case important and the Media will be all over it.

I have managed to do my work without drama but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to avoid it in this case.

We get to the court house and Sally grabs my file bag from the backseat aks we walk to court no. 3. We're about 10 minutes early so the courtroom is practically empty. We decided go be early because I never had the displeasure to meet my client, Michael Williams in person. I've always dealt with his assistant. I've always thought him to be cocky and snobbish so I'm not really looking forward to meeting him.

Two minutes later I hear footsteps at the door and turn to look. A tall dark and very handsome gentleman walks in the courtroom and strides directly towards us. I look at his face and our eyes meet, something flutters in my stomach and I stare. He smiles.

"Good morning, Susan", his deep voice snaps me out of my reverie.

'He knows my name' I think to myself.

Just as I'm about to ask who he is, Danson, my client's assistant walks in panting loudly. "I see you've been acquainted with my boss", he says.

My eyes widen.

"Yo...your boss?" I stutter.

"Yes" he smiles.

I turn and look at this handsome hunk and I can't help imagining his lips on mine.

"My name is Michael..."

"...Mr. Williams" I interject while standing and stretching my arm for a handshake. He smiles and takes my hand and brings it to his mouth and kisses the back of my hand. I feel an electric current the moment his lips touch my skin.

He smiles and takes a seat next to me.

He smells so nice my God.

"All rise!" The court clerk snapps me out of my reverie.

We all stand, the judge walks in, "you may be seated", she says. We sit and the clerk reads the case number and parties.

The prosecutor, one Mr. Smith is a senior gentleman that I have come to respect stands, "my client was bullied out of his business premises by the defendant by the defendant and is demanding to be compensated for his losses" he said.

"The plaintiff was a restaurant owner who failed to pay his rent for 6 months which prompted my client to get an eviction order from.tjis court and had the gentleman evicted" I replied. "My client gave the plaintiff ample time to prepare, a months notice which he ignored and even dared my client to evict him if he had the authority. Armed with an eviction notice, my client enlisted the help of some of his employees and got then plaintffs equipment and furniture out of his property, nothing was mishandled and so I don't see a need to demand compensation", I continued.

"Your honor, my client is a had worked being harassed by the big shots in this country" he said.

"And my client just lazys around?" I interject.

"Your client was born with a silver spoon in his mouth he's never known hard work" said Mr. Smith

Now I'm pissed, "please don't tell me you're the stereotypes that believe that rich and powerful people don't work hard, I'm embarrassed for you, senior counsel"

"Watch you language" snaps the judge.

"All I'm saying your honor is that my client works and contributes to the growth of country K just like any other citizen. He did not break the law by evicting the plaintiff since he had a court order. It's completely the plaintiff's fault that his food went bad since he chose to remain in the premises to the last day. Besides, he still owes my client six months worth of rent". I said in one breath.

All this time I felt Mr. Williams eyes on me and I couldn't help giving him a side glance. He was smiling at me, a very beautiful smile.

"I request to have this court throw this case since it's obviously a waste of time", I continued.

"Do you have any proof that the defendant damaged any of the plaintiff's property?", The judge to Mr. Smith.

"I have witnesses who can testify that there was destruction" said Mr. Smith.

"And we have video evidence showing how the eviction happened up until the plaintiff took all of his property away", I said. This seemed to throw the prosecutor off.

"We haven't been served with the said video evidence, your honor", said Mr. Smith

"We did serve them and even filed returns in the registry, you should have it in your file, your honor", I said.

The judge flipped through the file and announced that he had a stamped copy of the evidence in his file. He threw the case out.

"We won", said Mr. Handsome.

"Indeed" I replied trying to compose myself.

I sheke hands with Mr. Smith then turn to my client. He has that beautiful smile still. Sally, my assistant takes my files and leaves with Mr. Dan. I'm left with Mr. Williams in the courtroom.

"I'm glad that didn't go to trial" he said.

"Yeah, and the Media didn't get wind of it or they would have twisted everything" I agreed.

"Well, I should take you to lunch to celebrate"

"Sorry I can't, I already have plans"

"Dinner?" He wouldn't take no for an answer

"Tomorrow at 8:00, you pick me. I'll send your assistant my address"

"See you tomorrow" he smiles as we walked out of the courtroom.
