" But beta black people shouldn't wear such colours...it make them appear more dark… now wear this maroon one and come fast." Her mom left saying.

" Why do these people even come to see me when they as already had decided not to choose me.???? What am I huh..a car or a dress that I should be pretty huh!!! They just come see and reject like I am an object put on show… they point at my colour like they are inborn Angelina joli….huh???" She kept cursing them.

"Ok now kumarte

daughter

show us to your feet by walking..." ordered the boy's mom.

"venukabadina vyaktulu"

back dated people

Palavi murmured under her breath as she stood up to walk. She walked around the room two times and came and sat down.

"Hmm....ok but ...her pic didn't show this dark!!! I mean my boy is fair but your daughter is a bit... you can understand na..." finally the father said.

Palavi had it enough... since the last two years she has been tolerating the same insult from every boy's family. Where has she signed a contract with them that she should look beautiful??? They speak about their sons in this way as if they are white paper and she is a black board!!!! They have already seen her in the photo her parents have sent... when they already saw her then why????why do come??to insult her... to make her feel inferior to their boys....who gave them the right to point at her...god made her , they didn't!!!

Palavi fisted her saree and stood up making the room go silent....

"Calu!!!

enough

you don't like me na?? Then just leave!!!its true that I didn't look this dark in the pictures which we have sent you.... but still you knew na that I was dark.... let it be less but still... black is black...why did you come then ha !!!! When you knew that your son is fair and won't match with me!!!! Circus , fun!!!???ha you want to make fun of my colour??? Insult my parents??? Who the hell do you think you are??? God!!! God made me... not you so you dhave the right to comment...so sir and madam I heartily request you to leave the premises before I say something which I don't want" she joined her hands and went to her room and closed the door.

SLAM!!!

She threw open the jewelleries and opened her hair in hurry. She laid down on the bed on her stomach.

Tears started to well up in her eyes..she hugged the pillow closed to her heart as she let out her steam....

She was black but what is her fault in that???

She is suffering since childhood for hee skin tone . In school all the fair and good looking children use to laugh at her for her skin tone...she was nicknamed coal. Her classmates had boyfriend's in their teenage while boys just ran away at the sight of her. Some teachers also use to tease her. She wasn't allowed to take part in the school play...In college the other students use to bully her and pranked her by pouring black coffee or throw black colour on her .. when she use to revolt they use to just laugh it away saying that they thought these were the part of her skin...so they returned...

She even faced problems in job interviews. She was rejected in many places due to her appearance until a kind director offered her a job of company secretarial as per her degree.

But still she couldn't find someone who can love her.

She often heard her parents crying in the midnight regarding her marriage. At times she felt like a burden on them. Her parents were fair so was her brother but she inherited this tone from her grandmother. She was also darkskinned.

She felt like a curse on them.

"Why God??why" she cried clutching on to the pillow. As her body racked with sobs.
