"I'm sorry, the user you're calling is currently unavailable."
Hearing the automated voice over the phone, Jamie hung up the call.
She glanced at her mother lying on the hospital bed, thought for a bit, and then picked up her bag and left the hospital.
Half an hour later, Jamie arrived at her boyfriend, Jack's apartment. Just as she was about to knock, she noticed that the door was not fully closed.
Confused, she pushed the door open only to find clothes scattered around the living room, including women's lace underwear.
Seeing these made Jamie's heart pound inexplicably. She took a deep breath and slowly walked towards the bedroom.
The bedroom door was ajar, and the sounds coming from inside made Jamie stop in her tracks.
The moans of a woman and the low growls of a man filled the air, overlap with a sickening fragrance.
Jamie couldn't stand it any longer, she strode forward and pushed the door open.
"Bang—" A loud noise made the two people on the bed, in the middle of their enjoyment, stop their actions.
Jack raised his head, only to see Jamie, her face full of anger, standing at the doorway. He quickly got up, put on a shirt, and approached Jamie.
"Jamie, listen to my explanation, things are not what you see." His hand barely touched Jamie's shoulder when she slapped him.
"Don't touch me! Jack, you scum!" Jamie screamed at Jack, her face already covered in tears.
Stunned by her slap, Jack, once he was gathered himself, looked at Jamie with a face full of rage.
No one has ever dared to slap him, this woman has become bolder!
"Jamie, are you sick or what? I have my reasons! Why the hell are you going mad?"
"Heh. I'm going mad?" Jamie responded with a light laugh, looking at his uncontrollable rage as if she was the one in the wrong.
"Let's break up. From now on, we each follow our own paths!"
Jack was standing at the bedroom door. He had never thought that Jamie would actually dare to break up with him.
"I've been sick of you for a long time! Now is a good time, don't appear in front of me ever again!" Jack nodded, his eyes filled with disdain as he looked at Jamie.
Seeing him as if he couldn't wait to break up, Jamie bit her lip tightly, her heart aching immensely.
"You can rest assured. Now when I see you, I feel disgusted!"
She never looked at the woman on the bed once from start to end, wiped away the tears on her face, and ran out of the apartment —
Night fell and lanterns were lit at the beginning of the evening.
Jamie, who had been wandering the streets all day, came to a street-side barbecue stall and ordered a dozen beers.
Originally, her alcohol tolerance was not good, and thinking about Jack made her quickly become drunk.
She staggered to her feet, paid after and walked away, with a half-empty bottle still in her hand.
"Hey, beauty, where are you going so late? Let me walk you back." Jamie was stopped by two thugs when she turned the street corner.
Her consciousness cleared a bit. Seeing the malicious smiles on the two men’s faces, she glanced around warily, spotting a lit place up ahead.
"Get out of my way! My husband is coming to pick me up soon!" With those words, she started to run towards the place with lights.
But since she was drunk, her steps were unsure, and she couldn't run fast at all, quickly tumbling to the ground.
The two thugs stepped forward in no time, grabbed the wobbling Jamie who was trying to get up and started dragging her to an alley.
Jamie bit one of the men's arms hard, causing him to let go of her due to the pain. Taking the chance, Jamie ran forward a few more steps.
"Screech—" The sound of a car braking sounded next to her ear. A black Rolls-Royce stopped a few steps away from Jamie.
