"Lily , wake up!"
"Lily ?"
A deep, magnetic voice rang in her ear. Lily Myers whimpered softly and slowly opened her eyes, only to be met with a splitting headache.
Before her stood a man—tall and upright, radiating an imposing aura. He had a clean-shaven head, thick eyebrows, large eyes, and a high nose. His lips were neither thin nor thick, and his face was strikingly handsome and resolute.
Lily 's eyes instantly sparkled. So handsome! Just her type!
She was about to flirt, but a sharp pain erupted in her head, flooding her mind with memories that didn't belong to her.
After processing the information, Lily was stunned. She had traveled through time!
She found herself back in the 1970s, inhabiting the body of Miss Myers from the affluent Myers family . Unfortunately, at the moment of her arrival, the original owner’s family was being persecuted for their wealth, branded as capitalists, and facing the imminent seizure of their family fortune.
A crowd of angry commoners surrounded the Myers family , and Lily could see the original owner and her parents being brutally beaten. In a desperate attempt to save their daughter, her parents insisted that she quickly marry her betrothed.
The original owner, a well-educated young lady, was naturally horrified at the idea of marrying a man she had never met. Coupled with the drastic upheaval in her family, she succumbed to the shock and committed suicide by throwing herself against a wall.
Moments later, her fiancé had arrived, rushing her to the hospital. Somehow, Lily had ended up in this body.
Looking up at the resolute and handsome man before her, Lily 's feelings were mixed. This man was the ex-fiancé of the former host—Brandon Cooper.
Coming from a military background, Brandon was not just handsome but also well-built. His slim waist and long legs gave him an exceptionally athletic appearance, with muscles honed by long-term training.
The former host was truly foolish! She had ignored such a top-quality fiancé and thrown her life away instead. Had she secretly caught a glimpse of Brandon ?
Lily held her head and struggled to sit up. "Where am I?"
Brandon poured her a cup of warm water and handed it to her. "This is the hospital, you..."
He gazed silently at the pale woman before him, his eyes dimming slightly. Lily was his fiancée, a renowned beauty within a ten-mile radius. Her delicate eyebrows resembled willows, her almond-shaped eyes hid a tinge of subtle melancholy, and he felt an urge to protect her.
She came from a good background, grew up in affluence, and had learned a variety of skills since childhood. Her appearance belonged to the type of Jiangnan women—porcelain skin and a gentle temperament, the kind of woman who could move a man’s heart at a glance.
A major incident had recently struck her family, and everyone else was trying their best to avoid the fallout. As Lily 's fiancé, Brandon felt it was his responsibility to protect his future wife.
"Does your head still hurt?" he asked gently.
Lily touched the gauze on her head and nodded. "A little."
In her previous life, she had been a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, so she knew her condition well. The original owner had sustained severe injuries; however, being a soul who had crossed through time, Lily felt relatively okay.
Holding the porcelain cup in her hands, she pondered a topic to break the awkward silence. But when she glanced at the small red mole on the back of her hand, she froze!
Her spatial ability had come with her!
In her previous life, she lived in a post-apocalyptic era where resources were scarce. Thankfully, she possessed a spatial ability that allowed her to hoard supplies, eventually opening a store within her space.
Now that her spatial ability had accompanied her through time, it meant she could gather supplies to her heart's content in the 1970s!
If she remembered correctly, at this moment, the street committee was leading a raid on the Myers residence! She still had time to go back!
"Brandon !" Lily was suddenly filled with urgency, gripping the man's hand tightly. "I want to go home, right now!"
Brandon stiffened, his gaze falling on her hand. His ears turned red immediately. Although they were engaged, they hadn’t met before, making such intimate gestures feel somewhat inappropriate.
Seeing his blushing face, Lily realized that this was the 1970s; even holding hands between men and women was considered very intimate behavior. She quickly pulled back her hand and chuckled awkwardly. "I'm sorry."
Brandon shook his head slightly, still flustered. Then he furrowed his brow and looked at her. "It would be too dangerous for you to go back to the Myers family now. There are a lot of people gathered near your house, and they seem very agitated."
"I know, but I..." An idea popped into Lily 's head, and she quickly concocted an excuse. "I left something very important at home. I must go back and get it, or I will never feel at ease for the rest of my life."
While speaking, she discreetly pinched herself. Her teary almond eyes filled with tears in an instant.
Brandon was momentarily taken aback and awkwardly shifted his gaze away. This time, from his neck to the roots of his ears, he was completely flushed.
"All... all right."
Lily almost burst out laughing. Wasn't Brandon a bit too innocent?
Half an hour later, at the back door of Myers's villa, Lily covered her face with a handkerchief and instructed Brandon , "You wait for me here; I'll be out soon."
Without waiting for his response, she slipped into the villa through the back door. Following the original host's memories, she headed straight to her room, waved her hand, and watched as all the valuable items in the room disappeared into her space ring.
Next, she quickly ran to the original host's mother, Rosalie Fisher's, room. By this time, the Myers couple had already been taken away for questioning by local officials. They were being maliciously accused of being enemy spies and evil capitalists.
Lily gazed at the not particularly large villa and sighed. The Myers family had indeed been quite wealthy in earlier years, considered affluent gentry. However, in these tumultuous times, to protect his family, Lily 's father had decided to donate all their property. This villa was among the donations, and they had moved into the servants' quarters along with his wife and daughter.
Even so, those people still wouldn’t leave the Myers family alone! The few assets they owned were about to be seized and confiscated. It was better for her to take everything than let the local office benefit from it!
Standing by the window, Lily glanced outside and saw several people with red armbands approaching the villa menacingly.
Without hesitation, she hastily stored all the packed belongings from her mother’s room into her space ring. Finally, she rushed into the original host's younger brother's room.
The host's little brother lived in a study that was not large, with a bookshelf occupying an entire wall. The original parents had probably sensed trouble and sent their son to their brother-in-law's house in advance, leaving little of the younger brother’s belongings behind.
Lily swept her arm, moving everything that could be taken from the study into her space. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly remembered something. The original father had been framed, so there must be evidence of this framing hidden somewhere in the house.
She approached the bookshelf and inspected it carefully. Sure enough, she found something odd: a hidden mechanism!
Upon pressing it, a rumbling sound echoed through the room, and a secret passage to the basement appeared before Lily ...
