I was the only neighbor of Steven. He was the son of one the richest men in the city. His opulent father married two women. One child from the first marriage that's my friend, Steven. A girl and a boy from the second wife. His both wives left him many years ago for some obscured reasons. His house was amid of a jungle, a few kilometers away from the city. No interaction with people, except me. I don't know why but they were not allowed to go to the city or meet with people. Relation among the siblings was not much amicable. He needed someone's company, I gave him, and I, an impoverished guy, was in the quest of such companion. In this way, we became best friends. Whatever reason was behind our friendship. But I was living the life that many people can imagine only. We used to spend the whole day in leisure we used to read novels and watch movies together. Everything was going well until Steven's father's death. I could notice the change in their behavior. It was a normal change because it was about the enormous wealth of their father, which had been distributed among them equally.
It was a sweltering day of summer, so we decided not to go outside. We intended to watch a movie. While watching the movie in the living room. I heard a sound from Mark's room, he was scolding someone. I saw shadow of the boy behind the window's curtains who was sitting in front of Mark. I didn't know who was that. Because there was no boy in the house except me, Steven and Mark. Steven trailed towards the room to check what was happening. At that moment, a police officer entered into the house. He canceled his journey towards the room and greeted the officer unwillingly. That strange sound was coming from room incessantly. We could hear it while sitting on the sofa. Steven asked him for tea, and he said yes, so Steven went to the kitchen, and I followed him. When I came back, I saw Mark was sitting with the officer, and they were talking to each other. I turned my eyes towards the room, it was locked outside, and there was no sound coming from the room. I stepped towards the officer and, gave one cup of tea to him and one to Mark which I had brought for me actually. Officer left the house after having tea.
After two days, I was at Steven's house as usual. Two police officers entered in house, and one of the officers said to Steven, "you are under arrest" by lifting the handcuff. I was baffled. We started to stare at each other. Steven was unable to utter anything, and the police took him away. I went behind them to know why he was taken to the police station
When I arrived at the police station, I discovered that Steven was sitting with the constable. He asked a constable who was holding him "why you have arrested me". He gazed at him without blinking his eyes, then he turned her face away and uttered, "such a clever criminal asking his crime innocently after kidnapping his own brother". His words left Steven and me confounded as he has only one brother who was there, talking to the inspector. I thought he had come to clear the confusion of police. Later Steven told me that Mark was the person who had filed the complaint against him.
Steven was thrown into prison. I asked to the inspector for permission to talk to Steven but he refused. I persuaded him then he gave me permission for a brief meeting. Steven said, " my brother has planned to get Dad's property, but I am thinking about my third mysterious sibling to whom I have never met before. Mark had created a witness, by inviting officer at home two days ago. To prove myself innocent, I had to find from where my third sibling has appeared ". I had never met that new guest. I went back home and tried to arrange a lawyer for Steven.
