In Capetown,
The melodious music enveloped the Atlantic International Hotel, where the engagement ball of Lugard and Robert families was taking place.
Lugard Henry donned a pure white handcrafted Italian suit. Standing at a height of 180 cm, he resembled a prince stepped out from a fairy tale. At the moment, he was looking deeply into the eyes of Robert Sheila, who was dancing elegantly in his arms.
Once the song ended, applause began to rumble. Lugard Henry held Robert Sheila around the waist with one hand and the other hand hooked her jaw, just as he was about to lean down and kiss the woman in his arms…
A “creak…” echoed, causing everyone’s attention to gather at the entrance.
The clack-clack sound of high heels on the marble floor was heard, a woman in a blue fishtail gown, Mitchell, walked in regally, exuding an air of arrogance.
This aura; it seemed like she was stealing the limelight from the protagonist, Robert Sheila. The people at the scene could not help but start whispering among themselves.
Lugard Henry's heart fluttered.
After being in love with Mitchell for three years, he knew she was a beauty. But he never expected her to be so radiant that she steals the show upon arrival.
At this moment, she stood before him, as his ex-girlfriend.
“Mi....Mitchell, how come you are here?”
He never expected the always-in Mitchell to make an appearance, let alone a high-profile entrance.
Robert Sheila's face had now turned pale, Lugard Henry had already shielded her in his arms.
“Mitchell, I am sorry, we…”
Sheila, looking so pitiful, was about to explain but she was interrupted by Mitchell, “Today is the engagement day of my sister and brother-in-law. If anyone should apologize, it ought to be Mitchell for arriving late. I am sorry for the inconvenience.”
Although it was an apology, the tone was neither humble nor haughty and in the pair of eyes that shone as brilliant as the stars, there was a touch of stubborn pride.
"Mitchell!"
A cool voice devoid of emotion reached Mitchell's ears at that moment.
Mitchell turned her head to see a man with a pallid face from anger approaching her step by step.
"Dad!"
Ignoring Robert Zayne's fury, Mitchell smiled faintly but dropped a bombshell.
What did she call Robert Zayne? Dad... Dad? This voice must belong to Robert Zayne's daughter but why has no one seen her before? Could it be...
"Mi... Mitchell!"
Zhou Min gritted her teeth, glaring at Mitchell with venom. The look in her eyes suggested she would love to tear Mitchell to pieces.
"Aunt Ella, you do not look so well. Could it be that you aren't sleeping well at night because of the insecurity that comes with aging?"
Mitchell looked at Zhou Min who was standing by Robert Zayne, responding in a calm and collected manner, her tone disdainful.
Who among today's engagement party guests wasn't a seasoned player in the business world?
The younger generation might not know what was going on, but the older ones all knew that the woman who helped Robert Zayne establish his empire years ago was a lady named Mu!
"Sisters?"
The most surprised of all was Lugard Henry. Despite knowing Mitchell for three years, he had never known that she was Robert Zayne's daughter.
"Is it strange to have a brother-in-law? I admit it, since my memory begins, my life was with my mother in city A. Speaking of my father, he might come across as a joke to you. I've lived for 20 years and the times I met my father can be counted on one hand. As for the Robert family... I have never even crossed their threshold!"
Before her mother passed away when she was eight, she held her hand and said, 'Promise me Mitchell, in this life, never set foot in the Robert family's house.'
Back then, she was too young to understand why. But as she grew older, she realized she was different from other kids.
Other kids grew up with their mom and dad while she was raised by an aunt.
In her young age, she was happy to see her father but as she got older, she grew to despise this man. Other than giving her money to ensure her healthy growth, he never took on any fatherly responsibilities.
Even at her mother's funeral, this man who was biologically her father, never showed up!
"Mitchell, shut your mouth!"
Zayne rebuked Mitchell coldly, with a look of distaste in his eyes.
Of course, he owed it to Mitchell's mother, he had his reason for avoiding Mitchell. A reason that he will probably keep to himself for the rest of his life.
"Did I say something wrong?"
Mitchell lifted her head in defiance, her eyes fearlessly meeting Zayne's, as she retorted!
In a quiet corner of the banquet, Gabriel sat lazily on the couch, his sharp, hawk-like gaze fixed on Mitchell. Since she entered, he had not taken his eyes off her.
"She really is a small, determined, wildcat!"
Gabriel did not miss any of Mitchell's expressions or movements; her clenched fists, her stubborn face as she looked at Robert Zayne.
Maybe she was scared to her bones but still forced herself to look calm. It truly... made him feel a bit of pity!
Gabriel stood up and strode away. Seeing his friend stand up, Ryan put down his wine glass and brushed off his female companion asking, "Gabriel, where are you going?"
"To save the wildcat."
Hearing these cold, taunting words, Ryan was taken aback. What did he say?
Damn, did he hear wrong? Was he hallucinating? The cold-blooded and ruthless man said he was going to save what? A wildcat?
