Mr. Qi appeared every time when she was at her worst. Her parents were displeased because of her breakup. Balancing a broken heart and the blame from her parents without knowing the reason, she impulsively asked the first person that came into sight, Qi Yanjing, “Mr. Qi, can you marry me?” Instead of agreeing, Qi Yanjing educated her for a long time, leaving him sleepless and restless throughout the night. The next morning, Qi Yanjing, standing in the rain outside her apartment, asked her the same question, “Miss Wen, would you marry me?”

She was about to marry Gu Yuchen.

Wen Zhixian entered the password and opened the door to Gu Yuchen's house.

In the past two days, they had been discussing marriage and the process to obtain the marriage certificate, so he had asked her to come to his house in advance to see if there was anything she needed to add.

Gu Yuchen had been her childhood sweetheart and the object of her secret admiration for a long time. After being in a relationship for two years and discussing getting married, both their parents could not be happier.

Of course, so was she.

After walking around the huge house, she moved Gu Yuchen's toiletries on the washstand a bit to the side. In the next few days, she would be able to put her stuff next to his.

Thinking about this made her smile at herself in the mirror.

Going back to the living room, she poured herself a glass of water. As she turned around, she didn't notice and bumped a mug on the table onto the ground, causing a clear shattering sound.

She looked down at the Lilly white porcelain mug, her face turned pale as she quickly crouched down to pick up the shards. The moment she touched the porcelain shards, she felt a sting on her fingers. She lifted her hand to see a scratch oozing blood.

She hesitated for a moment, took a photo of the broken porcelain, and paused for a few seconds before sending it to Gu Yuchen.

This mug was a gift from Gu Yuchen's girlfriend of four years. Even though they had broken up, he still kept the mug. She had witnessed the whole process of Gu Yuchen's love to breakup, so she knew just how deeply he had loved his ex-girlfriend.

But now, she was about to marry Gu Yuchen, she didn't think he would blame her for accidentally breaking this mug. After all, it had been so many years since the breakup.

Honestly, she had been bothered by the existence of this mug to some extent. Perhaps, this was fate — removing all barriers between them before their wedding.

Thinking of this, she wasn't that nervous anymore.

Gu Yuchen replied to her message: "Wait for me at home."

She didn't know what kind of emotion Gu Yuchen had when he typed those five words, but she couldn't help but think positively.

Looking at her finger that was still bleeding, she wiped it with a tissue. It was pretty painful and deep. If she had known, she wouldn't have rushed to pick up the pieces.

Gu Yuchen came back fifteen minutes later. Seeing the shattered mug on the ground, his face darkened, "Wen Zhixian, what have you done?"

"I'm sorry, I accidentally knocked it onto the floor." She faced Gu Yuchen, her voice involuntarily softened.

Gu Yuchen's chest heaved, his breath short and restrained, his voice icy as he pointed at the shattered pieces on the ground, "Pick it up."

He was angry, because of a cup and because of her.

Wen Zhixian showed her palm, "I cut my hand earlier."

If somebody else had given him the cup, she would have picked it up and glued it back together for him, but it was a gift from his first love. She was not magnanimous enough to do so.

He raised his voice, still icy cold, "I asked you to pick it up. Did you not hear me?"

"I'm sorry, can I buy you a new one instead?" She held Gu Yuchen's hand that was hanging at his side.

Gu Yuchen shook off her hand, "Wen Zhixian, you're not a careless person. You didn't do this on purpose, did you?"

A sour sense of grievance welled up in her heart, "It's just a cup. Why are you so angry with me?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Yuchen couldn't contain his anger any longer, "Just a cup? You make it sound so trivial. Do you know what this cup means to..."

He didn't finish his sentence, "Pick it up and glue it back together for me."

Wen Zhixian stood opposite him, feeling as if her blood had gone cold when he said those words. He had never spoken to her like this. It turned out that she was less important to him than a cup given by his ex...

"Is this because it was a cup given to you by your ex?" Her voice carried a confrontational tone, she sounded shaky if you listened closely: "We're about to get married, do you intend to keep her things and look at them for the rest of your life? If you loved her that much, why did you choose to be with me instead? I didn't just break a cup, I smashed the links between you two, is that why you're mad at me?"

"Slap——"

A crisp slap echoed, Wen ZhiXian's head turned to one side, her messy hair covers the left side of her face, her mind a blank canvas, and her ears buzzed.

Gu YuChen's body temperature dropped to freezing point, his hand slightly trembling, he growled lowly: "Go."

Her eyes reddened, her sight blurred by a layer of tears, she stumbled over her words in a soft voice: "Gu YuChen, was I wrong?"

She hastily left Gu YuChen's home, afraid that if she stayed one more second, she would break into tears in front of him.

Gu YuChen knelt down to pick up the white porcelain fragments from the ground, noticing that his hand that slapped Wen ZhiXian was still numb. He was frustrated and threw the piece he just picked up onto the ground, shattering the already broken porcelain even further.

Wen ZhiXian ran out, accidentally twisting her high-heeled shoe. She scraped her palm and knee, leaving a trace of blood. She quickly got up, grabbed her purse, and at this moment, all she wanted was to hurry home and leave this place behind.

She brushed past a tall man and left in a hurry.

The man had watched the whole scene, glanced down at the keys and lipstick left on the ground, wanted to remind her, but when he looked up, she had already driven off, leaving only the tail lights.

Back home, Wen ZhiXian searched her purse at the door, there were no signs of her keys, leaning against the door, her left cheek burning, tears falling like a broken string.

She lifted her head after some time to stop the tears, planning to go back and look for her keys, which probably had fallen out of her purse when she tripped.

Upon leaving the complex gate, a man suddenly blocked her path. She didn't get a clear look at his face, she croaked: "I'm not interested in promotions."

She attempted to bypass the man, but he reached out: "You dropped something on the west road."

In his palm, a pair of keys and a lipstick found themselves reunited.

She finally looked up at the man in front of her. He was over one meter eighty-five tall, seemed even taller than Gu Yu Chen, and was handsomely aloof, giving off an air of high intelligence.

His gaze also fell on her face, and for a moment, he appeared entranced when he saw her face.

Accepting the key, she instinctively covered her swollen face with her hand, bowed her head, and thanked him: "Thank you for going out of your way to bring it."

Next, she pulled out her phone, "Sir, let me reimburse you for the gas."

"There is no need. We are just two vessels meeting on a vast sea."

Knowing that staring at her was impolite, he immediately averted his gaze and left.

Wen Zhi Xian had been at home for two days, out of touch on her cellphone. On the third afternoon, the doorbell rang.

She was lying in bed, without any strength. Her face was still in pain. She managed to get out of bed to answer the door. Right when she opened it, her childhood friend and bestie, Qin Zhao Li, was standing there, preparing to scold her. Seeing her in such a worn-out state and with a pale face, he frowned and asked, "What happened to you?”

Qin Zhao Li felt something was off, and moved her bangs covering her left cheek, his blood ran cold seeing her face, he asked sternly, "What happened to your face? Who hit you?"

She remained silent. Qin Zhao Li didn't press further. Instead, he made her a bowl of cooked noodles after he entered the house.

When she finished eating, he asked again, "Who hit you?"
