It was just a regular day at the hospital, few complaints and injuries but no major accidents or life-threatening incidents. The staff from the Emergency Room was startled as the telephone rang, one of the nurses picked up.
She immediately grab a notepad and took down notes. She rushed to the alarm signaling the emergency staff to prepare everyone for the incoming patient, a child who is in dire need of medical attention. They were so busy prepping the station for a possible operation, even the doctors were there preparing themselves at the scrubbing area.
One of the surgeons, Dr. Frasier, was feeling a bit funny. So funny, he s on the verge of throwing up. Still, he prepared himself for the incoming patient.
"Dr. Frasier, are you ready?" the nurse mumbled.
Dr. Frasier nodded as they wait patiently for the white doors of the emergency room to open. As the patient approaches, he immediately picked up the scent from behind. Besides the blood, there was something else. The smell was so good he cannot wait to meet the child and claim it as his. A few seconds later, the emergency room doors opened, and the patient was then rushed to one of the beds on the far-left side near the operating room. A thick layer of blanket was wrapped around her. Dr. Frasier s eyes widened when she saw the child s condition, and just like any other doctors, he immediately shouted, signaling the paramedics to check the vital signs of the child.
The nurses and three other doctors were surrounding her. The child badly needs medical attention or else, they would lose her. All the staff were in shocked of what they re seeing, but everyone needed to remain their composure to get the job done.
However, it was Dr. Frasier who had the most difficult time. This was not just any child but clearly a child who was beaten every inch of her life. One thing s odd, he could clearly hear the loud pound of the child s heartbeat. Louder than any other machine could ever elicit. Dr. Frasier froze when he uncovered the blanket, revealing the child s face for the first time. Beyond those heavily beaten and scarred face was a beautiful little girl who ll surely be the most gorgeous lad in time. Any minute now, the child s heart will give out and the thought of her dying, sends Dr. Frasier to nightmare.
One of the nurses noticed a changed in Dr. Frasier s eyes but just brushed it remaining the focus on the helpless child.
Dr. Athan Frasier, is a vampire living in the human world. But not just any vampire, he s a royalty. He s the Count Dracula to his coven as well as his six brothers, in this day, vampires are very well known. And their Coven was the most well-known. Although Dr. Frasier is a Count Dracula, he likes to save people, he likes to work at the hospital to help others and of course, to pass time. And tonight, is the night he s been waiting for.
The child s blood stench was so predominant, but her heart was weak, giving them just a palpatory beating. With everyone around staring at the little girl, Dr. Frasier felt uncomfortable. He just wanted to scream and instruct everyone not to touch her and leave. But he knows that the girl needs saving, so he just maintained his composure. They started pumping the mechanical ventilator and treating her wounds.
The child s heart stopped; the machine went off making everyone panic. The doctors performed several chest compressions until they hear a beat. It literally broke his heart, as Dr. Frasier watched her being revived into no luck. He then decided he needs to do something as soon as possible or else, he ll lose the child. In his 300 years of age, he was never eager to help someone especially if he knows that there will be no positive outcome. But the girl was different, this is the first time he felt like he wants to help her no matter what. However, he knew that by helping the child, he will be breaking some of the law that their coven made but he didn t care, all he knows is that he needs the child to be alive.
"Everyone, back off!" Dr. Frasier shouted.
No one listened to him, everyone just kept on doing what they re doing making him angrier. He rolled his eyes, and aggressively pushed the doctor who s performing the chest compressions.
"I said back off!" he scoffed.
The staff and the doctors were shocked, they immediately stood back and stopped whatever they re doing. Everyone was terrified of his looks giving them no choice but to obey him.
All the staff in the room was silent, their eyes widened as the count Dracula bite down to his wrist and held it towards the child s mouth.
"You know you can t do that." One of the doctors mentioned.
"That s against the rules, and you know that," he added.
"I don t care about the rules! Fuck those rules." Dr. Frasier growled.
He s eyes were glued only to the child. Everyone was even more shocked by the doctor s action; they ve been with the doctor for almost their life, and this was the first time they ve seen the doctor so eager to save this child. He s never cared whether the patient dies, and he clearly knew that it is against the law for any human being to taste a vampire s blood. The reason being is that vampire s blood is like an addictive drug.
Dr. Frasier hovered his cut wrist onto the child s mouth that was evidently hanging open and dry. There are not enough droplets falling, the count Dracula then forcefully pressed his wrist to allow more blood to drop.
The room was filled with silence as they stood still waiting for the girl s heart slowly beating and after a few minutes, steady. He lets out a comfortable sigh showing relief as everyone else felt. Her heartbeat was steadier and more normal as it was compared to when they receive her. Now, they had run some tests to determined further underlying injuries before they give her the treatment. They re still on the lookout for any fluctuations on her heartbeat and pulse.
All the results of the tests and scans were forwarded to Dr. Frasier s e-mail as he demanded every keen detail to the child s condition. After careful review, he found out that she was maltreated, beaten repeatedly with all sorts of heavy and hard materials. She had suffered broken arms and nose; her legs were dislocated, and she also suffered broken ribs almost protruding to her lungs. Let s not forget her visible scars and bruises which angered Dr. Frasier even more. He s never really cared for anyone before, and to sum it up, he never liked children. Right now, it s making him confused as to why he would care so much about this child he even has to break the law he created just to save her. There are so many questions lurking his mind prompting him to connect with his brothers to check if they had the same hunch.
Dr. Frasier couldn t afford to leave the child s side after what happened, so he stayed in her room for a while.
He knew it wasn t normal for a grown man to feel this way towards a child but they both don t know what s going on.
"I m positive it s coming from here."
"We need to be thorough; we have to fi—"
The voice was interrupted when he opened the small brown door where Dr. Frasier was located.
He stopped while setting eyes on Dr. Frasier, carefully scanning the child looking for answers to his question.
"I knew it, found him!"
"I found him!"
A deep raspy voice shouted as they all peeked into the room, also confused. Confused why their brother was sitting there and smelling the child.
"Wow the stench, it lingers more here than from outside."
This caught Dr. Frasier s attention, looking confuse at his brothers.
"So, it s not just me then?" Dr. Frasier mumbled.
He earned nods from the six. They also smelled the stench of the child s blood when they arrived. Some of them were eager to find the source first before going to Athan, but they knew that this was more serious.
"I think the stench is from here." Athan mentioned while sniffing the child
He pointed to the seven-year-old girl peacefully lying on the bed, unaware of her surroundings. They all took the time to check on her looking for explanation as to why they needed to protect her and love her. They never knew how to love, in fact, they re a predator to the human world even though Dr. Frasier worked in the hospital for ages.
All of them now took the time to scan the child s body and eventually, their eyes turned bloody red.
"Cassius, tone it down!" Athan said.
Cassius scoffs and walked towards the child still in question why he would feel this way for a young child he s only seen now.
"Tell me, how can I calm down upon seeing this poor girl?" Cassius aggressively uttered.
"Damien, do you have any idea why we feel this way?" Athan asked.
Damien stepped forward till the end of the bed while his red eyes scanned the girl, "Well, I sensed something. But I don t think any of us would like it," he explained.
"What is it?" they echoed while taking the chance to look at the girl
"I want to ask you first," Damien asked as he looked at Athan.
Dr. Frasier, raised his brows waiting for the question while Cassius was sitting by the end of the bed together with Alaric who s the smallest among seven. The other three weren t sure if they need to approach or just stood behind keep an eye on the door. This eventually annoyed Athan, signaling them to move closer.
"Don t just stand there." Athan instructed.
They glanced at each other waiting for a move from each of them. The vampire with the silver hair started to move forward near Cassius and Alaric. While the other two, came closer bringing their seats near Athan.
"Go on, tell us." Alaric hurried
"Take it easy, Aric." Kieran mentioned while patting his elder s back
"Oh shut it Kieran, I m so tired." Aric mumbled.
Kieran rolled his eyes and watched how Aric just planted himself on a small sofa at the end of the room next to the door.
"When she came into the emergency room, did you also smell her before you saw her?" Damien asked.
He already knew the answer but just wanted to confirm since he and his five other brother smelled her as soon as they set foot in the building, and followed the smell since the Blade, the youngest of their brotherhood couldn't ignore it.
"I did." Athan replied.
"See I told you about the sme—"
"We already know Blade, we found the source, will you please keep up?" Aric annoyingly scoffed
Blade rolled his eyes and pouted but went straight back to watching the little girl.
"Well I've come to one conclusion then." Damien uttered with confidence
"You concluded that?" The last vampire spoke by the name of Ulrich, still sat on the end of the bed with Cassius.
"I think we've finally found our weakness, just as we were told at the start of our reign." Damien explained.
A loud gasp escaped from Kieran, while Aric glared at Damien, not wanting it to be true because if it is, then the seven kings that have been known to never show mercy or a to have a weakness can change everything. And they all know that. After hundreds of years, they've finally found their mate.
"What are we going to do with her?" Cassius asked with confusion
Aric was so furious, "kill her," he said while clenching his jaw
Five out of the seven thought that was out of the question and couldn't believe that would even be mentioned. On the other hand, the youngest, Blade didn't think it was a bad idea, if she lives on, she could possibly ruin the reputation that have taken more than over 200 years to develop, she could weaken all of them and he didn't want that.
"That's not a bad idea." Blade echoed.
"What?! Are you two out of your minds?!" clearly, Athan was furious about the decision his brothers are coming up to.
But Damien didn't believe their words he knew how he felt towards the child, and he knew they would too, so he was going to test them.
"Okay fine. You two want her dead then do it." Damien urged the two sensing that they won t e able to do it.
Blade stood up with ball fists, he knew Damien was testing him and he really believed he could.
"You don't believe I would kill her, do you?" Blade responded with a raised brow.
He gritted his teeth as he spoke, he was showing anger but everyone in this room besides the unconscious child knows in him inside out. They could tell by his eyes he didn't want to, so they waited to see what would happen but on edge in case Blade somehow managed to try and even harm her.
"I don't." Damien uttered, clearly, he knew nobody will have the guts to even touch the girl
He showed blank expression, he was smart he knew the girl was in no danger despite the threats.
"Fine." was all Blade said and stomped over to the child s bed, pushing Cassius and Ulrich away so he could get closer. Taking one look at her face, he forced himself to grab her by the arms but that was the only place his body allowed him to touch her. He was aiming for her neck but for some reason his subconscious wouldn't allow him, and he ended up with the arms instead. He didn't squeeze it, he just held a grip, he tried forcing himself to move or at least tighten the grip he had but couldn't, his body would let him move.
Out of frustration, he jumped back away from her and punched the wall, causing it to crack, his brothers weren't surprised at all.
"I can't fucking do it!" Blade let out a sigh
He then threw himself next to Aric on the sofa and left to stress with himself in his own mind.
"I knew you couldn't." Damien mentioned
Pulling a smug smirk to the youngest on the sofa while Aric had point proven and knew he too would be the same if he tried.
"What about her parents? What happened to them?" Ulrich asked with a hint frustration
Athan scoffed, he knew what had happened to you. The police came in to address the situation and to say Celeste will be put into foster care since her parents have had their rights taken from them and sent to prison.
"They're the ones that did this to her! They can rot for all I care." Athan screamed out of anger
Kieran stood from his chair, anger seeping out of him, eyes red again.
"Then let's go kill them." Kieran urged
He was on his way out the door, but Damien was quick to grab him and stop him. He agrees with what Kieran had said but wanted to deal with the child first since she's clearly something special to them and has found it's their responsibility to find her a new home.
"We ll deal with that later, Kieran. We need to make sure this child is going to be safe. We all know that a foster home is not going to be ideal for her." He explained
"Celeste," Athan whispered.
Everyone looked at him confused to why he would randomly say a name out of the blue while he still stared upon the girl.
"What did you just say?" Cassius was confused.
"Her name, her name is Celeste." The doctor said, while standing beside the poor girl.
They were all in awe, hearing the name for the first time. The name itself wasn't anything special it's just to finally know her name, was somewhat precious to them, including the two that thought it was best if she was dead.
Damien quickly shook the thoughts, to get back to the topic. Finding Celeste, a new home.
"Cassius? Isn't Drusilla and Amber still wanting to adopt?" Damien asked
Drusilla is their adviser back at their coven. He lives with the seven of them with his wife and have always wanted children but unfortunately, they couldn't conceive since they are vampires and can't procreate. Cassius, being the closest to their adviser would know him more on personal levels and as soon as Damien mentions their names his eyes lit up like something clicked in his mind.
"They do! They've been on the list for years and haven't had any success." Cassius muttered
"Are you suggesting what I think you are?" Kieran second.
Damien nods. He wants their advisers to adopt Celeste as their own. He trusts the couple with his life as he's known them since the beginning, so he knew they were capable to raise her.
"Yes. I think Drusilla and his wife should adopt her and raise her. She'll be safe with them; they have their thirst for blood under control and I believe Amber will be the best mother to her as a role model." Damien explained
"But wouldn't that mean they would have to move out the coven?" Ulrich was fast to come up with a conclusion
"Yes. They know the rules, no children inside the coven, they know full well about how we feel about children." The elder responded.
"I'll call Drusilla and let him know." Cassius immediately took his phone and dialed the number
"I'll be the one talk to the Social Welfare Department since I m Celeste s attending physician." Athan immediately went by the bedside to get the chart for the Social Welfare Department s number.
Both vampires stood up and left the room to their duties. They didn't want to leave but knew it was to help Celeste to a better life. There was silence in the room until Aric decided to speak up.
"Damien? Isn't it best if she doesn't know who we are to her?" Aric thought it would be best.
Namjoon sighed as Kieran and Ulrich held their breath, waiting for the answer but also knowing it would be safer for her not to know since her life would be in danger from their enemies.
"Yes. It is better. As much as I hate to admit it, it would be better if she didn't know who we are to her, but Drusilla can still work for us, it just means Celeste can never set foot inside the castle, ever." Damien explained.
"That's a good idea. I don't want Drusilla to lose his job." The youngest pleaded
"That's only half-truth Blade you also don't want her in harm s way." Ulrich mumbled while laughing
Blade went back to pouting knowing he's right but didn't want to admit it. He was embarrassed by his earlier action whereas Ulrich found it hilarious and would make sure to use the memory to tease him forever.
"I'll discuss this with Drusilla as soon as he gets here. I'm sure they'll want to meet her first before they adopt her, and Celeste should at least get to know them too." Damien s eyes light up in sheer joy
"Well shouldn't we leave then? I mean before she wakes up." Kieran asked
"We should wait until he gets here and then we'll leave." Damien said glaring at Blade
Nobody wanted to leave her but if they had to, knowing she was safe in the hospital and then to go home with Drusilla and his wife, then they would be happy with that for now.
Cassius burst back into the room with a smile on his face.
"They've accepted and are on their way to see her." Cassius says while cupping Blade s face
He was happy that they said yes but there was no doubt they would have said no. All of them feeling gratitude to the couple and even Athan after finding out the news when he came back.
The part they didn't want the most came and they had to say their silent goodbyes until the time came to meet because they all know she'll come back into their lives one way or another. She's their mate, they're soulmate she can never truly be avoided but for now the current situation will do.
Slowly closing the door to her room, taking one look made Damien admired her cute features one last time, "we'll meet again, Celeste. " He whispered.
