It has always been the same thing over and over again. Since Lora's parents have been branded as a traitor, which she does not understand how happened, was it so bad that her parents are not the same kind? Love does not require similarities nor does it take discrimination of kinds. A witch and a werewolf can be in love and have kids, just like her parents did.
"I told you countless times already, you should kill her before she turns a traitor just like her good for nothing parents!"
"Yeah, yeah! Kill her!"
Lora could only think Enough, my parents are not traitors, I will not be a traitor. Please stop.' But she knew that she can never speak up, not even to stop the beatings, or to defend herself. It takes a lot of courage to face the Full moon pack, and the fact that she does not even have the confidence speaks how little her courage is. She just wishes that one day, maybe things will turn out different, maybe there will be a miracle to which she can hold on. Something that would light the darkness she is trapped in for like, forever.
"Hey, hey! What do we have here?"
Upon hearing the voice, Lora could only think of a name. Just a name.
"Harold!"
The rest of the pack welcomed Harold as he walks in on the commotion that happens without a fail every day. What else would it be? Nothing new, just a normal day for the Full moon pack in beating up Lora, taking inches of her soul away until she gives up.
"What do you know? Not always you see the offspring of the traitors..." Tina went around Lora looking at her with pure and utter disgust. She crouched to get head to head with Lora while ticking her tongue inside his mouth.
"It is a shame, really. Lora, how can you live all through this?" Tina said mocking her with sympathy. She is not being real, of course. Tina knows once she had branded Lora as the child of a traitor, there is no going back. She loves to see Lora suffer as much as anyone.
Harold looked at Tina from head to toe then smirked. Indeed, when it is all about forgiving decency, they are partners in crime.
"You really have to die, Lora. We cannot have someone that has the blood of a traitor coursing in her veins."
"My parents are not traitors..."
She did not know where she got her courage to speak up even if she can barely be heard. Tina looked at her with nothing but the intention to mock her.
"What did you say?"
"I said...'
Lora took a deep sigh and locked her gaze in Tina's eyes.
"MY PARENTS ARE NOT TRAITORS!"
It was a moment of silence after that until everyone that surrounds Lora started laughing. They laughed and laughed until Tina signaled them to stop. She smiled at her and shook her head. She kicked her as if he is a basket, Lora flew at least 2 feet away from where she was. Tina is strong, probably the strongest in their pack, she can rival Harold in terms of strength, and she does not even have to use her wolf. With Tina's kick making Lora fly two feet away, the pack started to scream and gobbled Lora once again. They held her up, some were throwing punches and some were kicking her at the waist down to her legs.
It hurts, that is what Lora thinks. Her sight started being blurry, and she can feel her body giving up. It's the most painful one, thinking back, Lora had never felt more tired, but she can now feel her body giving up and she cannot even call someone for help. Everyone, and it is not even an understatement, not one wolf in their pack dares to show sympathy towards her.
"You really hate her, don't you?" Harold asked Tina. She did not answer but just shrugged her shoulders. She does, she does hate Lora down to her bones, until she dies she will hate her for all of eternity. They kept on throwing punches and kicks on Lora until eventually, she had given up. Her body started collapsing, the men holding her drop her to the floor. They all laughed as Lora lost the last drop of her consciousness when someone from the crowd shouted.
"What do you think you are doing?!"
Lora did not see who it was, but could it be that someone actually gives a cares about what happens to her? It's a moment of hope for her, maybe she is not a lost cause at all.
When Lora opened her eyes, she can feel her whole body aching from all the beating. Her body was thin as if a skeleton filled with bruises. Her hair was dry and her bangs blocked her sallow face. She found her right hand was fractured. She got up with difficulty and wanted to go out, but the outside was locked, presumably, it is Tina who locked her up after the commotion that happened.
Lora remembered that someone from the crowd spoke up, now that she is conscious the voice was a little familiar, but she could not pinpoint who it was. She crumpled herself and thought of how she survived being the slave of their pack and how could she survive Tina, going back she did have a hard time but she had never realized that it was this hard, she had always shrugged it off thinking that once she gets older, maybe the pack would recognize her but no. She was entirely wrong about it.
"I thought things would work out," Lora whispered to the air. It happened back when she was just at the age of six. When her parents died and were branded as traitors. The more Lora goes back to the past and thinks of every time she had given herself the false hope and false reassurance that everything will turn out to be fine hurts more than anything she could handle. She then again lost her consciousness, with the shock and sadness, she could not bear it all at once.
Lora woke up the next day, exactly five in the morning to prepare breakfast for the pack. Despite her body hurting all over, she needs to bear it more than anyone else. She just needs to accept that nothing good will ever come to her life, not even half of it. This is what she is, this is the life she is living. She is a slave from in and out.
The door that was locked yesterday opened being slammed by a man. Lora looked who it was and could not help but bear the expression of hatred and cringed in her face. Those dark blue eyes that each and every woman in their pack falls in love with. Of course, it is none other than the great Harvey, the next Alpha of the pack.
Since she was preparing the breakfast and it was done, she handed Harvey his breakfast, but upon looking at Lora, he was filled with disgust. He knocked down the plate of his breakfast in front of Lora.
"Clean that up before the others come, clean yourself too," those are Harvey's words. Of course, as much as Lora hates Harvey's guts, she obeys anyone in their pack, and she would not dare to disobey the firstborn of their pack's Alpha. Lora did exactly what Harvey asked her to do, but with her other hand fractured, she barely have the strength to clean it properly. It turned out to be messier instead of Lora cleaning it up.
Harvey frowned looking at her, Lora sighed and stood up but stumbled upon the pail, with Harvey's fast reflex, he managed to catch Lora even before hitting the ground. Her fragile body would not handle the impact, especially with those open bruises, she might just permanently break her bones.
Lora cowered, she is uncomfortable with Harvey catching her but at the same time grateful.
"Please put me down," Lora said. Harvey slowly turn her around, Lora spun and came in face to face with Harvey looking directly at each other's eyes. Any kind of tension aside from being looked up, Lora had never felt anything like this, it was her first with Harvey. With embarrassment filling her up on the inside, Lora subconsciously covered her face which piques Harvey's curiosity.
"Why did you cover your face? Are you trying to hide something?" A double-meaning phrase. He is not implying that Lora could be blushing because of him, but he is not also discarding the possibilities.
Harvey looked at Lora and pursed his lips, he reached for her hand, he wants Lora to put her hands away from her face. Lora can see what Harvey is doing between her fingers, but instead of doing that, Harvey plucked Lora's loose hair at the back of her ears. She uncovered her face and looked at Harvey with awe. She suddenly felt the rush of trepidation in her body when suddenly...
"What are you doing?"
