Natasha rubbed her tired eyes as she left her office. She couldn't believe she had worked
overtime on her birthday; her husband would be a little upset. A notification popped up on
her phone, and she smiled at the credit alert - it was her salary. Now she had enough money
to buy the expensive wristwatch Ethan had always wanted, a gesture to make up for her
lateness.
Deciding with gladness, she took a cab to the store. Her car had developed a fault on her
way to work that morning and might take a few days to repair. "Yes, this is what I want," she
said, pointing at the wristwatch. The staff picked it up from the show glass. She had been
saving up her salary for months to afford the diamond wristwatch. She could imagine the
happiness on Ethan's face when she presented it to him.
"Please package it nicely; it's a gift for my husband," she said, her ringtone cutting her off.
Her mom was calling. She grinned happily, thinking her mother had finally remembered her
birthday. "Hi, Mom." She smiled, handing her card to pay for the wristwatch.
"Hi, you remember Laura's birthday is in a few days, right?" her mom asked. Natasha's smile
faltered. "Huh?"
"I knew you would forget," her mom continued. "Anyway, there's this luxurious bag I want to
get for Laura. It's quite expensive, but I know she'll love it." Natasha felt tears welling up in
her eyes, but she swallowed them back. She should have known her parents only cared
about her sister; they had never remembered her own birthday or shown interest in her life.
"So, why did you call me?" Natasha asked, trying to keep her emotions in check.
"I know you get your salary around this time of the month," her mom said. "I need some
money for the bag. I think the price is..." Natasha cut her off, her annoyance growing.
"I don't have any money to give, Mom," she said firmly.
Her mom's tone turned critical. "What do you mean by that? Don't you get paid at work? Will
you be selfish to your own sister? I'll send you the price when I confirm. Send the money
tomorrow or next."
Before Natasha could respond, her mom ended the call. Natasha shut her eyes, trying to
contain her emotions. Everything was always about Laura; her parents only called her when
they needed money. Her mom didn't even remember her birthday, instead focusing on
finding the perfect gift for her "precious" daughter.
The sales associate interrupted her thoughts. "Here is your package, ma'am."
The sight of the gift cheered Natasha up. "All I need is my darling husband," she thought.
"It's high time I stopped caring about my own family."
She hailed another cab and headed home, feeling happy. She wondered if Ethan had
prepared a surprise for her as she walked into the quiet compound. As she opened the door
to the living room, she saw a pair of heels on the floor. Still wondering if they had a visitor,
she heard strange sounds from the kitchen.
Natasha froze when she saw the scene before her: Ethan and Laura were kissing
passionately, half-naked. The gift fell from her trembling hands, finally catching the duo's
attention.
"When did you come in? Why didn't you come with your car?" Ethan threw questions at her,
annoyance etched on his face. Natasha had ruined his fun.
Laura rolled her eyes as she adjusted her bra. Natasha felt a wave of shock wash over her,
her mind racing. "What is going on here? E...Ethan...please...please tell me this is a
nightmare." Her voice trembled, and she felt disorganized and shattered.
Ethan shrugged nonchalantly. "You can't blame me. You're the cause of this."
Natasha's eyes widened in outrage. "What?! Are you crazy? This is my sister!" She yelled,
tears streaming down her face.
Ethan's expression turned cold. "Well, she's the one who's always here for me when you're
spending your entire time in that stupid office. See the time you got home?"
Natasha's anger boiled over. "That stupid office is where I get money to take care of you and
your needs!"
Ethan sneered. "I have other needs too, and Laura is the one taking care of that."
Laura pulled Ethan closer, kissing his lips, and Natasha felt her knees weaken.
"Laura...that's my husband," she whispered, her voice barely audible as she fought back
tears.
Laura laughed mockingly. "A husband you can't produce children for? Come on, sis."
Natasha's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean by that?"
Laura's smile was cruel. "I mean you're infertile! You've been married for two years, and you
can't even produce a child."
"Oh, my god!" Tasha stumbled backward, grasping a chair for support as tears streamed
down her face. She couldn't hold them back anymore.
Laura sneered, "You don't know how to keep a man, sis. You would've lost him to another
woman anyway. Be thankful I stepped in." She wrapped her arms around Ethan, laughing.
Then, Laura turned to Tasha, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Hey, sis, I have a great
idea. Why don't we just have an open marriage? You make money for the family, while Ethan
and I make the babies. We'll be one big happy family."
Ethan chuckled, seemingly amused. "That's a good idea."
Tasha's tears dried as her anger ignited. They weren’t worth it. She sprang up, her voice firm
and commanding. "Now, you two shameless animals, get out of here this instant!!"
Laura and Ethan exchanged surprised glances, taken aback by Tasha's strength and
authority.
“Did you just call us animals!” Ethan took threatening steps towards her, his face reddening.
“Yes, I did, because that’s exactly what you are!” Tasha stood firm, her eyes blazing with
anger. “I can’t believe you’d cheat on me with my sister, Ethan. You’re a complete animal!”
Ethan's expression twisted in a mixture of anger and defensiveness. “You don’t have to be
so angry, this is clearly your fault. You’re never around, and you can’t even produce a child.
You pushed me to…”
Tasha's anger boiled over, and she slapped him across the face. Ethan's eyes widened in
shock, his cheeks stinging from the blow.
“I’ll call my lawyer, and the divorce papers will be sent to you tomorrow,” Tasha said, her
voice icy. “Take that slut and get out of my house!”
Ethan and Laura exchanged shocked glances. They had never seen Tasha look so cold and
dangerous. The sweet, gentle woman they knew had transformed in seconds.
Laura watched the scene unfold with mixed emotions, while Ethan struggled to find his next
words. “Look, you can’t divorce me,” he said finally, his voice laced with desperation.
“Remember the family bond? Just calm down and let’s talk it out.” His cheeks still throbbed
from the slap.
“To hell with the family bond! Get out of my house this instant!” Tasha roared, her annoyance
boiling over.
Laura finally tried to intervene, “Sis, it hasn’t gotten to this. Let’s just…” But Tasha cut her off.
“Don’t you ever call me that again in your pathetic life,” Tasha spat, her eyes blazing. “If you
don’t leave now, wait till the police get here.” She searched her purse for her phone and
started dialing.
Ethan panicked, not wanting the situation to escalate further. “Fine, we’ll go. Call me when
you clear your head,” he said hastily, throwing on his shirt and fleeing with Laura.
