All the she-wolves of the Blackwood Pack envied me for becoming Alpha Dominic's mate.

But when I was in a car accident, nearly losing our baby, Dominic ignored my desperate calls. Instead,He moved into our master bedroom with his ex.

OLIVIA’S POV

A deafening screech, the violent crash of metal, and then darkness swallowed me whole. When I opened my eyes again, harsh white lights and the sterile smell of disinfectant overwhelmed my senses.

"Olivia, you're awake at last," came James's reassuring voice. He was our pack's top healer—and my foster brother. I tried to sit up, but every muscle ached as if I'd been crushed under a massive weight.

"Easy," James gently pressed on my shoulder. "You were in a car accident. Thankfully, just minor scrapes and a concussion—no broken bones."

I struggled to recall what had happened. I'd been driving to the supermarket to pick up food for the pack when suddenly a truck lost control and veered straight toward me. "I'm sorry. I'm causing trouble for the pack again," I murmured bitterly.

"Don't say that," James said sternly. Then, his voice softened, "Actually, there's something else. You're pregnant, Olivia."

My eyes widened in shock. "What did you say?"

"You're about six weeks along," he smiled warmly. "Congratulations."

My hand instinctively moved to my belly. Five years. Everyone had said I could never conceive, even Dominic believed it. I had quietly endured their whispers and pity. But now... "Am I really pregnant?" My voice trembled with disbelief and joy.

"Yes. Get some rest," James said softly, "I have surgery to get back to."

As he left, I lay there, overwhelmed with hope. Maybe the Moon Goddess had finally given me a chance. Could this child change Dominic’s heart toward me?

My thoughts were interrupted by whispers from the hallway. "The Omega who stole the Luna position is in the hospital again?" "You mean Olivia, who robbed Evelyn of everything." "She only got there because of that prophecy. She doesn't deserve—"

I clenched the sheets tightly. They were right. Without the prophecy, I'd have no right to be Dominic's Luna. Ten years ago, Elder Alyosha had foretold that the true Luna of Blackwood would bear the Phoenix mark—a sacred sign of prosperity and power. Dominic and Evelyn had been the perfect match, beloved by the entire pack and destined to rule together. Their bond had been undeniable, their love unquestionable.

But the night the Phoenix appeared on my neck changed everything. I was an Omega, yet the mark chose me. No one wanted to accept it, but Elder Alyosha supported me. The pack believed in destiny, and destiny chose me—not Evelyn. Yet in their eyes, I'd stolen Dominic's future, Evelyn's rightful place, and the happiness meant for them both. Even though officially named Luna, I'd never truly been accepted. To them, I was an impostor forcing Dominic into a bond he didn't desire.

Maybe fate had finally offered me a chance to change everything. I had to speak with Dominic—my mate, my Alpha. Ever since losing my wolf in that attack at eighteen, I'd been unable to use Mindlink, but thankfully, my phone survived the accident.

I reached for my phone and dialed Dominic’s number.

Once.

Twice.

Again.

Voicemail.

My chest tightened. He never answered my calls unless it was something urgent regarding the pack. But today, of all days, I needed him. I just wanted to hear his voice, to tell him about the baby, to feel like I mattered for once. And maybe for the validation that I believed I deserved.

Had something happened to him? Blackwood was powerful, but we had many enemies who sought our downfall. My fingers trembled as I repeatedly called his number. Moon Goddess, please keep him safe—my mate, and the child we’d waited so long for.

As if answering my prayer, a commotion erupted from the hospital hallway. Clinging to the wall, I forced myself toward the doorway.

The sound of hurried footsteps shattered the silence as doctors rushed toward the entrance. I tried to look up, but a powerful force knocked me to the ground.

"Ah!" I screamed as I fell.

I looked up at the person who had collided with me—my husband, the alpha of the pack—Dominic.

His chiseled face was twisted with fury, every fiber of his muscular frame radiating disgust toward me. His hateful gaze pierced through me like a sharp arrow, cutting deeper than ever before. The intensity of his loathing was overwhelming, more palpable than it had ever been. Why? Why now, after I had just discovered I was pregnant?

"Doctor! Where's the doctor?!" Dominic stood there, but when my eyes shifted to the woman cradled in his arms, everything became painfully clear.

My throat tightened as if a boulder had lodged itself there, suffocating me. I couldn’t breathe.

Evelyn—the Luna Dominic had always wanted.

The world around me tilted.

Evelyn, Dominic's first love. She had vanished five years ago. I had forced myself to believe she was gone for good, that perhaps fate had finally given me a chance. But now she was back, and she was in my husband’s arms.

My stomach churned, nausea rising in my throat, but I had to hold it back as I watched him hold her like she was the most precious thing in the world. Like he would die if anything happened to her.

I had never seen that look on his face. Not for me.

I couldn’t breathe.

"Get out of the way!" Dominic roared at me, then rushed toward the emergency room without a second glance. It was as if I were nothing more than trash beneath his feet.

The jeers and mocking laughter around me surged like a tidal wave, threatening to drown me.

My mind raced, heart pounding painfully in my chest. Seeing Dominic hold Evelyn so protectively reignited every insecurity I'd struggled with since becoming Luna. The sight was devastating, the harshest proof yet that Dominic had never truly loved me. Despite the prophecy marking me as his destined mate, despite the child now growing within me, his heart had always belonged elsewhere. The painful realization crashed over me like a relentless wave, shattering every fragile hope I had held onto. How could I compete with a she-wolf who had returned to claim what was always hers?
