The early morning sun illuminated the little room which almost looked like a cubicle but was always neat and only accommodated Leah,the last child of Mr Yahir.

Leah wriggled on her bamboo bed, covered with a pepper-red checkered sheet. She yawned loudly and rolled out of the bed. Another day has come for her to continue her little ?business;selling barbecued meatballs .

Leah went outside the log cabin which she and her family had been living in,eversince she came into this world. She got into the locally made bathroom, beside the log cabin to freshen up.?

Leah was through preparing for the day. She got into her bicycle and rode to her barbecue stall located a few kilometers away from the house so she could start her business for the day.?

Eversince Leah was born, having friends had been a tough task for her as her family was known as the poorest in the vicinity. She only had the opportunity to ?attend highschool through scholarship. Her mom had sponsored her elementary school and middle school and when she couldn't provide enough money to pay Leah's fees,she announced to Leah that she should quit going to school but Leah had already paid for a scholarship exam which she passed with flying colors.?

Leah had desired to further her education after writing her final exams at high school but her mom died that year and Leah felt so heartbroken and she couldn't get the courage to further her education anymore.?

After Leah's mom's death, six years ago, Leah's elder sister,Wenona,who was only 20 years as at then,was forced by her father ?to marry Jamir,an engineer who was very mean and often times maltreated his wife.?

Leah's father turned into a wencher after her mom died. He no longer showed care towards Leah and her only Sister. He didn't care if Leah had to go to bed on an empty stomach .This attitude of My Yahir compelled Leah into going to do some work so she could fend for her needs.

A knock came on the French door with side panels ?and Toby shuffled towards the door and opened it.?

"Sir, ma'am Isla asks that you join the family for breakfast "

"Seriously?!... I was awoken just to have breakfast with them?they all must be crazy "Toby muttered and slumped back on his bed.?

"Toby!! "A female voice yelled from the lounge ?and Toby flinched as he wasn't expecting that sudden noise.?

"I'm sleeping woman! "Toby yelled back and used his pillow to cover his head.?

Toby Darell ,the only son and first child of Mr Darell, lives with his parents at their mansion. He is 26 years old and through with college. Toby is a loafer and doesn't go to work. He's fond of going on the razzle with his friends, getting laid with different kind of girls and lavishing his father's money.?

Mr Darell had tried convincing him to work with him but Toby had declined severally. Toby's sister, Quiana,was out of town as she was in higher institution studying biomedical engineering.?

Toby gave up lying on the bed as his mom won't quit yelling his name. He got up and went to his ensuite to wash his face.?

Toby marched down the spiral staircase and made for the dinning room where his parents were seated.?

"Good morning parents "Toby said reluctantly and sat down on his chair and his mom dished out his meal for him.?

"I can see your joblessness has rendered you useless"My Darell cussed out and Toby rolled his eyes. His father was fond of lashing out on him and he didn't like it but there was nothing he could do as he respects his father a lot. The reason is that,his father is his only source of income. Without Mr Darell, Toby is nothing. If his father goes bankrupt, then he'd go bankrupt but it can never happen as Mr Darell has always been a hardworking man.?

"why will you say that to my son? Toby is not useless. He is useful to me "Isla argued and Toby smiled faintly. He knew where this argument was going. His parents are like cat and rat, they always quibble about trivial things.?

"Your son is 26 already but has refused to join the company to make some money for himself.He has also refused settling down with a woman, when is he gonna learn from his mates? "Mr Darell asked calmly and Toby stood up abruptly as he wasn't ready for quibbling this early morning.?

Isla looked at him in confusion.?

"Where are you heading to Toby? "Isla asked

"Outta here, I'm tired already "Toby replied curtly.?

"go get yourself a wife Toby ,try to make a good decision in your life even if it's once, okay? "Mr Darell said softly and Toby rolled his eyes at him ?

"I don't wanna get married "

"yeah.that's what you always say Toby. You don't wanna do anything reasonable for yourself but listen to me attentively Mr man. A time's gonna come when this house will no longer be large enough to accommodate you and I "Mr Darell stated as a matter-of-factly.?

"Are you indirectly chasing our son out? "Isla asked in a shocked voice.?

"No. I'm trying to make him act responsible for once.Lavishing money on irresponsible people ?and screwing girls doesn't make him a better person. He needs a woman, a decent woman to help change his life for the better"Mr Darell said and Toby hissed and got out of the house.?

"You just made him quit eating his food. You made my son lose his appetite. If my son eats outside because of you, I'm not gonna spare you "Isla bawled out and stood up and left the dinning room in anger.?

Toby's at Layla's house. He is seen drinking with a brunette hair girl who was seated on the floor with her hands on the table and a guy on crew cut hairstyle who is busy watching the chess game Toby and Layla were playing.?

"What's wrong? "Leah asked as she disengaged from the hug but caught sight of her sister's bruised face.?

"Who did this to you Nona ?"

"Jamir"

"What?! "Leah gasped in shock

"I'm tired. I'm tired of living with that monster. He's not a human Leah. Jamir can never walk past me without hitting me. In fact Jamir rapes me anytime I refuse to have s*x with him. I'm tired Leah"Webona said in a frustrated tone and began sobbing.?

"What are you saying father? Wenona is in pain. Jamir is always hitting her. She has a home and her home is here, father ,let her stay here, we are her family "Leah pleaded amidst tears but those tears didn't work for her.?

"Jamir paid a huge amount of money to marry Wenona. Whatever he does to her isn't our business.Jamir remains her husband. In fact, the day Wenona got married to Jamir,that was the day we lost the right to accommodate her here"Mr Yahir said to the consternation of his daughters

"What are you saying father? This is my home as well. Jamir has been maltreating me since the day I became his wife"Wenona said and burst into tears again

"Oh cut the crap young woman. What ever happens in your marriage is not our business, go back to your husband "Mr Yahir said sternly?

"Remember you put me in this mess, father, I never wanted to marry Jamir. You forced me to. You said you no longer want me to live with you and Leah, that was why I agreed to marry Jamir "

Wenona couldn't ?believe her father no longer saw her as family. He didn't care about her.?

"I still don't want you living in here"Mr Yahir said and folded his arms?

"why? So that you can go on sleeping with different kinds of women and getting drunk all the time? I can't believe mom's death turned you into a wencher "Leah spat in disgust.?

"Don't question me Leah. You ought to be married by now as well. You will be 24 in a month's time, you should be planning to get married very soon"Mr Yahir said to Leah and Wenona wiped her tears in anger.?

"You are right father. This is not my home. I'll never come back to this house to seek comfort, I promise "Wenona said and sniffled

"Don't say that Nona. I'm your family okay? I need you Nona"Leah said with pleading eyes

"You ought to learn how to live without your loved ones Leah. You never can tell who will get tired of you someday "Wenona said and stormed out of the log cabin in anger.?

"Nonaaa!!! "Leah called and made to run after her but her father drew her back with his tight grip on her arm.?

"If you dare step outside, don't bother coming inside "Mr Yahir said hoarsely and made to his room.?
