Ivy twirled in front of the mirror, the soft rustle of satin and lace echoing in the boutique. The wedding dress accentuated every part of her body revealing her nice curves. She was so god- damn good looking even though not yet fully dressed as a bride.
“ You look so fucking amazing” Joe couldn't take his eyes of her perfect body. He rose up from his chair and gently took her hands. He spun her around “ I'm the luckiest man alive”
Ivy could only chuckle “ you are saying that cause we are getting married in a few days”
“ No, I'm saying it because it's the Truth. I mean who would have believed you are so gorgeous”
he kissed the back of her palm “ I can't wait to make you my wife and get my hands on this ass. I mean you are a whole package”
His eyes swept through her entire body and ivy could see the lust in those eyes.
The moment felt surreal and all Ivy wanted was for it not to end. For Ivy this was the life she had always dreamed of.
Ivy sat on the sofa waiting for the ride they ordered home when her phone buzzed on the small table next to Joe. She glanced at the screen of her phone and then furrowed her brows and then she heaved heavily.
Joe on noticing her sigh immediately knew something wasn't right he asked “who is it”
“ Just a message from the office”
Joe knew something was off “ you were given an off till after our honeymoon so why the sudden message”
She picked up the phone and read the message to his hearing.
“ All employees are required to report to the office tomorrow morning. The CEO will be coming and there will be some changes. Whoever is absent stands the risk of losing their jobs”.
Joe sighed his cheerful demeanor flattering slightly
“ Oh common it's just a day to our wedding and you still have to go to work. I mean they should respect the fact that you're getting married”
Ivy offered him a reassuring smile
“ I'm sorry Joe, but I have no other option than to go. I once heard that the CEO is a very cold hearted and easily irritated person. He fires his employees over the slightest mistake. I'll go in and get out as soon as everything is settled. You know I can't stand a chance of losing my job. We will have to sort out a lot of bills once we get married. I promise it won't take long”
“ You work too hard, I know it's cause of me and our unborn children” Ivy smiled at his words “I just don't want anyone taking advantage of your loyalty”
“They are not taking advantage of anything” Ivy said softly “I won't take long, I'll be back to you before you know it”.
Joe smiled “ don't hurry, take as much time as you need but, don't let them pile work on you. You are getting married and you will be having a family who wants all of your attention”
Ivy laughed and gave him a peck on his cheeks “ Noted, Mr soon-to-be-husband”
As she was led out of the boutique by Joe. Her mind wandered off with a series of thoughts piling up in her mind. But Joe's presence eased her pain. She pushed the thought from her head. For now she just wants to be happy
It was already evening as ivy took her bath and got dressed, Ivy received a call from her sister Melissa. She furrowed her brows because it's been about a year since Melissa called her. She never bothered to call her either because they weren't on good terms. She picked up the phone and answered.
“hey, sister” Melissa's voice rang from the other end of the phone.
“Hello Melissa” Ivy tried keeping her voice light despite the exhaustion of the day.
“ I've got some news, sis” Melissa's voice sounded exciting.
“ What's up?” Ivy asked, aching her brows.
“ I'm coming home tomorrow morning” Melissa exclaimed, Ivy could hear the excitement in her voice and Ivy was really surprised “ my flight gets in at 7am tomorrow morning I'll be back on time for your wedding!”
Ivy's brows furrowed slightly “ wow, that's…. Suddenly. she said a tinge of surprise in her voice” I didn't know you were coming home so soon” I wasn't actually expecting you so soon. I mean I thought you were gonna be busy”.
“ Yeah I also thought I'd surprise you!. I mean we've been apart for so long. I miss my sister so much!” Melissa said sounding upbeat “ you know it's has actually been a while we've sat down and talk or even spend time together as sister and as far it's your wedding I can't miss it for the world”
Ivy nodded though something felt off. Deep down she knew something was wrong but she just couldn't figure it out
“ I'll be at work tomorrow morning so I won't have time to pick you up”. Ivy said, her voice soft but firm.
There was a slight pause on the other end “oh right…., I see you'll be busy with everything”, Melissa sounded a little disappointed but quickly covered it up “ no worries, I would just order a ride or something. Just wanted to let you know that I'll be there for your big day”.
“ Yeah thanks” ivy said although her voice sounded a little bit more distant than before “ I'll catch up with you once I'm free”
“ Perfect can't wait to see you tomorrow” Melissa said with enthusiasm in her voice “bye, love you” the call ended. The last words still left Ivy stunned and for a while Ivy stared at her phone in total shock. It was just so fucking unbelievable. Really unbelievable.
Ivy walked to her fridge and took out a bottle of water. She gulped down the whole content in the bottle in one go. She thought about the conversation she just had with Melissa. It really wasn't normal. She knew they had serious differences so she never even once expected that Melissa would be present for her big day it wasn't okay to Ivy.
