"Ashton, shall we have a child?" Twilight said with a smile.
Twilight moved closer to the man and reached for the man's belt.
"Click—" A sound was heard as she unbuckled it.
Just as she touched the zipper, ready for the next step, her hand was suddenly stopped by the man's large palm.
"Twilight, let's divorce." Ashton said in an indifferent tone.
The deep, pleasant sound, however, carried no warmth, just like a thunderbolt from a clear sky, it heavily struck her mind.
Twilight was stunned. Her watery eyes uncontrollably looked at Ashton: "Why...because I just mentioned having a child? I was joking, if you don't want to..." Before she could finish her words, the man's cold voice interrupted her.
"Enough, stop deceiving yourself and me. Do you forget why we got married in the first place?" Ashton's voice was extremely cold, devoid of warmth.
How could she forget? Three years ago, she hired a holy doctor to save Ashton's grandma. The grandma adored her, thus coerced this wedding arrangement.
"But, we've been married for three years. Haven't you liked me a bit?" Twilight asked, hoping for a bit of affection.
But Twilight's hope shattered when Ashton did not answer.
Ashton stared coldly at Twilight, then turned around to take out the pre-arranged divorce agreement from the drawer.
Pain! Twilight's heart felt as if stabbed fiercely.
Her whole being numbed and heart throbbing in pain.
Seeing her immobility, Ashton became somewhat impatient. Indifferently, he said, "Allison is pregnant now."
What?! With a look of disbelief, Twilight, eyes teared up, looked at the man.
Allison Tucker is pregnant?
His greatest love...
Anger, humiliation, discomfort... All these emotions surged into Twilight's chest, almost suffocating her.
She couldn't believe that this man could do this heartless thing to her.
She is the one who has been there for him when that woman left him for money.
Engaged for three years, she thought she could warm up his heart, only to turn out this way. What a pathetic woman she is. After she had given him everything she has.
Pathetic? More likely, it was laughable.
Twilight snapped back to reality when Ashton's cold voice rang.
"Just tell me, what compensation do you want? As long as it's not too much, I can satisfy you." Ashton said heartlessly.
Ashton was standing next to the bed, carrying a lofty and superior attitude, like he was on the top of the food chain, which stung Twilight's eyes.
This heartless man. He is the one who did me wrong and he is the one acting superior.
"No need, thank you." Twilight's face was ashen. A trace of self-deprecating cold smile crept by the corner of her mouth.
She's not taking anything from this unsympathetic man. Not even a cent.
"The lakeside villa No.13 is yours, plus I'll give you an additional fifty million." Ashton said thinking Twilight said that for him to raise the amount.
"I've told you, I don't need it." Twilight said forcing herself not to explode in anger.
Taking a deep breath, Twilight reached for the divorce agreement and penned down her name. After that, she hurriedly packed her belongings, pulling her suitcase towards the villa's entrance.
Seeing her rushing to move out, Ashton felt a sudden surge of anger. Is she in a rush to be with her other man?
"Wish you and Alistair happiness." Ashton said with a suppress anger.
The man's voice abruptly stopped Twilight's steps.
She turned around and looked at him in disbelief. "How-How did you know about Alistair?"
Ashton scoffed, his face lace with sarcasm.
"When you had a fever last time, you kept calling his name." Ashton said, his tone covered in jealousy that even he did not notice.
Twilight opened her mouth, and immediately an image of a handsome face who always doted on her emerged in her mind. A man who always took care of her when she's sick.
A bitter smile slowly tugged at her lips. "I wish you a lifetime of happiness with Allison, with a child to bless your union soon."
With that said, Twilight walked away without looking back.
Walking on a desolate, vacant street, a profound sense of loneliness filled her heart.
Her years of love wasted. It's not even reciprocated but ended up in betrayal.
She took out her phone, dialing a number she hadn't called in three years.
It ring for a second before the person on the other line picked up.
"Big brother... I want to go home..."
Her eyes reddened, her heart ached. Tears streaming down her face like waterfalls.
"Don't cry, I'm here! Where are you? I'm coming right now!" The man said full of concern.
Twilight said her location and after a few more words, she hung up.
Half an hour later.
"Whirr whirr whirr--"
The thunderous roar of a helicopter reverberated overhead. As Twilight looked up, she saw a dozen helicopters slowly descend from the sky.
With the cabin doors opened, dozens of bodyguards in uniform black suits orderly ran from the opposite side, bowing respectfully towards her.
"Miss."
Twilight, unfazed, subtly nodded, "Mm."
She looked up, turning her gaze behind the bodyguards.
The bodyguards swiftly marched aside, leaving a path.
A handsome man in a deep blue suit gradually came into view. His suit accentuated his gentle and refined aura.
Taking hurried steps towards Twilight, he said, "Little sister..."
