Summer.

The night was extravagant, the dazzling lights of City C illuminating the skyline.

At the Golden Throne Hotel, inside a luxurious VIP suite, Gu Shaohan lounged in the bathtub, limbs stretched out, eyes closed in relaxation.

Meanwhile, outside the suite in the hallway...

Shen Meng teetered in her sky-high stilettos, her form-fitting pink gown hugging every curve of her flawless figure. The plunging V-neckline teased with glimpses of delicate collarbones, while the daring backless design revealed smooth, flawless skin. The high slit in her skirt flashed glimpses of her slender legs, the heels elongating her silhouette into an elegant, statuesque vision.

She muttered under her breath as she walked, "Ugh—my feet are killing me! Stupid Xiaofan, this is all your fault. So what if we're catching a cheater? Did I have to dress like this?"

Her large, expressive eyes darted from door to door, scanning the numbers—706, 707, 708...

There it was. Xiaofan had said Kang Pei was in Room 708.

Tiptoeing closer, she pressed her ear against the door. Sure enough, muffled sounds seeped through—a woman’s coquettish giggles, mingled with a man’s heavy breathing.

Just then, footsteps echoed from the other end of the hallway. Caught off guard, Shen Meng spun around and spotted Room 808 slightly ajar.

Without hesitation, she slipped inside and gently shut the door behind her. Peering through the peephole, she saw a waiter delivering a bottle of wine to Room 708. The narrow view only allowed her to glimpse a man’s hand reaching out to take the bottle before the door clicked shut again.

Fuming with rage.

She kicked off her high heels, gripping one in each hand. "Damn it! These shoes are killing me."

The entire outfit was the handiwork of her best friend, Xiaofan. When she left Xiaofan’s boutique earlier, her friend had drilled it into her: "Girl, you’re going to catch a cheater in the act—you can’t let that homewrecker outshine you. You’ve got to crush her with your looks."

Yeah, right. As if she was the one "crushing" the other woman—more like her husband had already fallen for the mistress!

Ugh!

All that effort Xiaofan had put into dressing her up, calling it a "Cinderella look." Seriously, since when did Cinderella wear something so tight in the front, so revealing in the back, with barely any fabric to speak of?

Maybe it was the skimpy outfit, or maybe the air conditioning was cranked up too high.

"Achoo—!" Shen Meng let out an embarrassingly loud sneeze before clapping a hand over her mouth. Her wide, startled eyes darted around the hallway.

No one?

Or so she thought.

The door to Room 708 creaked open—clearly disturbed by her sneeze.

Shen Meng spun around and pressed her eye to the peephole, but all she could make out was the man’s torso, not his face. Was it her husband or not?

"Damn it! Why couldn’t they make this stupid peephole bigger? I can’t even see that bastard’s face!" she cursed under her breath.

Right then.

Behind her—

The man stood wrapped only in a towel, arms crossed, his brows furrowed as he stared at the woman pressed against the door—one hand still clutching a shoe.

This woman... had a nice figure. The curves were certainly there from behind, though he couldn’t yet judge the front.

His deep, mesmerizing eyes held an unusual allure, the kind that could pull a person in without warning. No one dared enter his suite uninvited—even if he left the door unlocked, not a soul would trespass without his permission.

"Who let you in?" Gu Shaohen’s voice was icy.

"Shh—quiet!" Shen Meng didn’t turn around, her whisper urgent. She was focused on the man outside Room 708, who hadn’t yet entered. Holding her breath, she kept her gaze fixed on the hallway. She was here to catch a cheater—she couldn’t afford to lose sight of her mission.

Gu Shaohen strode over with deliberate calm, his tall, imposing frame radiating arrogance. An aura of cold elegance surrounded him.

In one swift motion, he yanked the door open and looked outside. His eyes landed on another man—also wrapped in nothing but a towel. A familiar face. The corner of his mouth twitched slightly, and just as he was about to speak—
