Chapter 1
"I am sorry." The words left my mouth over a whisper, my voice hoarse from crying. "For breaking you," I continued, and my heart twisted in my chest when I looked into his eyes and saw the amount of pain in them.
The pain I caused.
"You didn't break me." He said, shaking his head, the blue in his eyes darkened with every unwanted emotion he was feeling, "I broke myself by loving you."

Katherine
I was happy. I finally had everything.
But one night only was enough to break me down. One accident that took everything from me and I was left all alone again.
Two years later, I was finally able to stand on my feet and face the world.
Things were somehow getting back to normal, but it all comes crashing down once I find out, it wasn't an accident.
The man I love, my unborn child, all gone because of one man only. His greed, his recklessness stole my happiness away and now it's my turn.
I will make him suffer, I will destroy him just like he destroyed the only good thing in my life...I will break him.
I will do anything because it is all about revenge.
This is not a story about forgiveness.
Because when you lose, someone has to pay the price.

Katherine's POV
"You piece of fucki—" I snapped my mouth shut and hissed the rest of the curse under a painful breath, shooting a hard glare at the coffee table as I felt a painful sting on my knee.
I wanted to walk back and kick that little wooden shit for injuring my leg. I was already having the worst mornings ever, I definitely didn't need this. My alarm didn't go off. Cara didn't wake me up like she was supposed to. I have an exam in less than five minutes, it's on the other side of the campus and I need my damn coffee if I want to concentrate and be able to get anything done.
Not to mention while struggling to get dressed, I ended up tripping and the closet's handle caught my blouse and ripped it on the side. Yeah, I had no time to change that either, so you can imagine my miserable—awful state right now.
My fingers wrapped tighter over the cartoon cup as I rushed out, trying to be careful enough not to bump into the students coming my way.
Last thing I need is coffee spilled all over my shi—
"Ahhh!" Flew out of my mouth as I came crashing against someone's very hard chest, the reflex had me jumping backward, startled at the sudden contact, which resulted in tipping the coffee cup and spilling half of its content over my white shirt.
"No, no, Jesus Christ, no!" I cried out while trying to hold the shirt away from my skin, scared to get burned.
"So, this is what was missing to make this day just absolute hel—" I paused in my rambling when I heard the sound of the camera clicking as it took a picture and the sight of the flash blinding me.
I gritted my teeth, knowing exactly to whom that camera belonged, I lifted my angry eyes and shot him a very hard glare. Gorgeous blue eyes stared back at mine, a hint of tease in them, and the corner of one lip lifted up as he gave me a wink.
The camera's strap around his neck, and he was holding it in both hands, his gaze drifted from me to the resulting image, and his eyebrow raised playfully, "Looking hot as always, pumpkin," He added mockingly, and I let out a frustrated groan.
"Ugh, Chase, I am already late!" I cried out again, my eyes falling down at my current state and I wanted to burst into real tears.
He removed the camera from over his neck and pushed it toward Caleb, who looked way too sleepy to understand what's going on, "Come with me," He mumbled, his hand wrapping over my arm as he pulled me along, almost making me spill the rest of my coffee.
He paused to a stop by the coffee shop's bathroom. I looked around in haze before he casually took off the sweatshirt he was wearing, and my eyes widened when the white T—shirt he had under lifted up exposing his skin and I found myself gulping down. Exams and coffee stains long forgotten as I noticed how the fabric stretched tight over his wide chest, and over the visible six—packs that looked hard and cut. Oh man.
He snatched the cup from my hand and placed it away, "Take off your shirt," He ordered, pushing the sweatshirt toward me.
I stared up at him in pure terror, "Huh?"
His smirk only stretched wider, totally aware of his effect, "Pumpkin, you had an exam you said," His words shook my back in, and I immediately placed my hands over the hem of my shirt, "Look away!" I snapped, unlike him I didn't have abs or whatsoever for him to ogle at.
He turned his face to the side, the smirk persistent over his lips as I took off my shirt. I grabbed the sweatshirt from his hand, and he couldn't help but turn and look at me as I slipped it over my body, almost sinking into it and its heavenly smell.
I lightly slapped his chest, "You still looked," I mumbled, and he chuckled lowly. He handed me back my drink, "Can't help it," he said with a wink and I shot him a glare, a small smile lifted my lips and he pointed to outside, "Now, run Katherine, run!"
I listened to his words and rushed outside, making sure I didn't bump into anyone as I finally arrived at the exam hall. I let out a long—relieved sigh when I saw they didn't start yet, giving extra time for late comers.
I dropped down in my assigned seat and straightened my back into the chair. My gaze flickered down to the sweater and an immediate smile lifted my lips. Chase, despite being a big asshole at times, he was always way too sweet.
He was my best male friend, the kind of friend who teases you all the time, the kind you want to hit and punch, the kind you secretly crush over, because you know he is too much of a playboy to commit to you. Yeah, that's Chase. Blue—eyed, six packs, always taking pictures of me during embarrassing moments, hot and sweet, caring Chase.

Staying up late studying proved to be fruitful as I left the exam hall with a big smile over my lips. I pulled my phone, texting Cara to meet me at the cafeteria, because I was starving, considering I exerted all of my energy into thinking while solving the exam.
I placed my tray over the table and the moment I placed the delicious chicken in my mouth, Cara appeared in front of me. I shot her a glare and she smiled innocently in return before she took the seat ahead of me.
"FYI, I tried to wake you up, but you were sinking into dreamland," She defended herself as she took one of my fries and chewed on it, "So, how was your exam?" She asked but before I could answer, she carried on, "Of course you nailed it you little nerd, unlike me," She huffed out and took another fry, to which I slapped her hand away, slowly losing my patience.
I curried on eating my food as Cara kept telling me how exactly she screwed up her exam. She stopped in her rambling and I heard a screech from beside me. I turned around, mouth full, my eyes falling on Chase's as he took a seat beside mine.
I gulped down my food, trying not to choke on it, especially when he gave me a wink, "My sweater keeping you warm, huh?" He said, tugging on the right sleeve, to which I only gave a nonchalant shrug.
"Thanks, by the way, even though it was partially your fault," I mumbled, looking away from him and back to my food, scared to get lost again into the blue of his eyes.
"My fault?" He asked, "You came running into me, pumpkin," He pointed out as he took one of my fries. Jesus, just leave my fries alone.
I looked back at him and my eyebrow raised as I playfully remarked, "Why are you sitting here? Don't you have other friends to bother?"
That had his smile widening, "I just love bothering you Kit—Kat," He said, placing the camera he keeps with him over the table.
"Kit kat, seriously?" I asked, shooting him a glare that only made him smirk, his blue eyes sparkling.
Why does he have to be so damn hot?
"So, kitty kat," He said, again with the creative nicknames, "There is a baseball game tonight," He added, his eyes flickering between me and Cara, "You and Cara should join me and Caleb, we have extra tickets, it will be fun."
Before I could start to fish for an excuse, scared of spending more time with him, for my heart's sake at least, "Well, we can't, because—"
"Yeah, sure we're going, who would miss a free game," Cara interrupted me, enthusiasm bubbling from her.
"Great!" He said, his smile now genuine and not teasing, "Caleb and I will pick you up at eight."
"Hold on, hold on," I mumbled, shooting Cara a hard glare, "Who said I'm going? I have a lot of other...important things to do."
Chase arched an eyebrow, "Oh really, what important things exactly?"
"Well, I...I have exams and I should study and—" I tried to say but Cara immediately called me on my bullshit, "Kat stop lying, you just finished your exams today and we were planning on doing something fun today and here is a baseball game," She stressed out, her eyes daring me to say otherwise, "So, we are going whether you say yes or no."
"I am with Cara, see ya later," Chase said, he seemed eager for this plan which only doubled my fear, "Try not to look too hot for me, pumpkin," He finished his words, all Chase—like, before he got up to his feet and left us alone.
Oh god, either give him to me, or let him stay away from me. Too much torture for my pure heart and hormones.
"Someone is blushing, aww Kat you look so cute."
I shot her a glare, "Why did you do that?"
She winked, "Making your wet dreams come to life," I kept my hard stance, and she rolled her eyes, "Come on, are we gonna pretend that you're not crushing on him big time," She said, totally reading my body language whenever we are around him, "And something in my guts tell me, he's got the hots for you as well!"
If only...
