This year's winter was exceptionally cold.
Aurora tightened her grip on the coffee cup; her amber eyes as calm as water.
She was clad in a khaki turnover coat, her slightly curled hair hung down, perfectly covering her delicate earlobes.
Her lips were slightly pursed due to the cold, her delicate but flawlessly pale skin, without a hint of blush, her eyes occasionally glancing at her wristwatch.
The flight had been delayed by three hours.
The man who had promised to pick her up at the airport the night before had not shown up.
"The weather was fine yesterday, how could it suddenly start snowing heavily today. Mr. Liam is really indifferent," Sarah grumbled, her brows slightly furrowed as she spoke.
However, her words fell on Aurora's ears. She laughed lightly, raising her coffee cup for a sip. Perhaps, to her, it didn't matter whether he showed up or not.
Suddenly, there came a flurry of footsteps outside the glass window, mixed with a man's low grumble about the unpredictable weather.
"Mr Anderson, the flight was delayed, my apologies." Lara, who was wrapped tightly in a coat, shrunk in response, yet her half-closed eyes were filled with a shimmering light.
Mrs. Anderson, who was trailing behind, with the luggage, had an apologetic smile on her face while her gaze searched for her daughter's figure in the room.
Upon spotting the two frosty figures near the table, Lara knitted her brows, exchanging a glance with her husband who is next to her, the smile on her face suddenly freezing.
"Aurora, didn't he come?" Mrs Anderson was the first one to break the silence, her gentle tone filled with inquiry.
Aurora naturally knew who the "he" in her mother's words referred to.
"He had some affairs to deal with," Aurora replied nonchalantly, reaching out to take the luggage from her mother's hand.
"Yes, yes, yes, work is indeed important." Mrs. Anderson sensing the tense atmosphere, quickly gave Sarah a sidelong look.
Being disgruntled, Sarah pushed the luggage out, still looking back at Aurora from time to time.
By the time everything was arranged, it was already late.
Stepping out of the hotel where her parents were staying, Aurora stood by the pillar at the entrance, just in time to see a familiar limousine in the distance, heading her way. Without thinking, she leaned towards the pillar. Her brows tightened slightly, just as expected.
The car smoothly stopped at the entrance, and the first person to get down from the backseat was a tall figure. Aurora's pupils darkened instantly.
Liam dressed in a suit, standing by the car, his chiseled jaw tense. His dark gaze revealed nothing of his inner turmoil.
The woman in the car didn't dare to delay, she hastily opened the door. Her pretty face with delicate makeup were full of forced smiles. The figure wrapped in a tight little dress was outstanding, protruding where it should, and curving attractively where it needs to. She couldn't deny, the woman was really stunning.
As she got off the car, it was unclear if the shoes were too high causing her foot to twist, or if she's putting on an act, Ivy's petite body seemed to be blown over by the wind, leaning towards Liam without any strength to support herself.
Yet, Liam didn't reject her, instead, he hugged her waist tight. The corner of his mouth curved into a smirk, whispering in her ear, "Next time you play this farce, beware I might feed you to the sharks in the sea."
Meeting a gaze as dark as the starry sky, Ivy bit her lip and nodded blankly after listening to his threats.
The next second, Liam whispered a few words into her ear again, causing Ivy to cover her mouth and let out a charming laugh, her face blushing even brighter.
Quietly watching from behind the pillar, Aurora saw her husband, laughing and joking while holding another woman. She inhaled deeply, her chest finally calmed down after a while, and unknowingly her hands were tightly clenched into fists.
