Olivia's POV
"Congratulations, Luna Olivia. You're pregnant," our pack's respected wolf doctor, Dr. Helena Kim announced with a professional smile.
I couldn't believe my ears. My hand instinctively drifted to my still-flat stomach, trembling slightly.
"Is there really a life growing in here?" I whispered.
"Yes, Olivia," Aurora, my wolf, responded with joy inside my mind. "I think Finn will be thrilled too."
After three years of marriage to Finn Callahan, Alpha of one of North America's most powerful packs, no one could possibly want this baby more than I did. This child was my hope, my future... perhaps even the bond that would finally make our contract marriage real.
I couldn't help but smile, a quiet curve of my lips as I imagined what our future might look like.
Noticing my expression, Dr. Helena Kim looked up, her own face turning solemn.
"Luna Olivia, your test results indicate you have naturally thin uterine walls. The fetus position is unstable. You'll need to be extremely careful with your diet and physical activities."
She explained while writing my prescription and handing me my card. "Here you go, head to the pharmacy to get your medications."
"Thank you, doctor," I replied softly, rising slowly from my seat.
Dr. Helena gave me one final warning, "Take this seriously! Many wolf mothers who miscarry once are unable to conceive again."
"I understand, doctor. I'll be careful," I assured her with a gentle smile.
After collecting my medication, I left the clinic and slid into the waiting black SUV.
Derek, my pack-assigned driver, started the engine and caught my eye in the rearview mirror."Luna, Alpha Finn's flight lands at three. We have about twenty minutes. Shall we head straight to the airport?"
"Yes, let's go," I nodded, feeling a flutter of excitement.
Finn had been away on business for nearly a month, and despite the complicated nature of our relationship, I missed him desperately.
Especially now that I was pregnant, I couldn't wait to share this news with Finn, hoping it might finally melt the ice between us.
Nine years ago, when I was just sixteen, my father passed away, and the Callahan Pack took me in.
Everything changed when I turned eighteen and discovered I was a rare "scentless" Omega—a wolf without a discernible scent. That very same day, I felt the pull of a bond with Finn. I knew—we were mates.
But Finn was deeply in love with Serena Clarke, a beautiful Beta from the Silver Creek Pack.
I didn't want to come between them. As long as Finn was happy, that was enough for me.I never told a single soul about the bond.
After Serena left for Paris to pursue her acting career, Finn and I unexpectedly spent a night together—something neither of us had planned, and both of us tried to forget.
He believed Finn should take responsibility for me—by marrying me.
What I didn't expect… was that Finn actually agreed. But privately, we signed a three-year contract marriage agreement—because his heart still belonged to Serena.
Still, I loved him enough for both of us, hoping someday he might see me as more than an obligation.
And now, maybe—just maybe—this baby would change everything.
During the drive, I couldn't help pulling out my pregnancy test results, reading them over and over while my hand gently caressed my stomach. Inside me grew our pup - a tiny miracle that would join us in eight months.
"Can you believe it, Aurora?" I asked my wolf silently. "Maybe this will change everything."
"Of course, our pup will be perfect," she responded confidently. "Strong like an Alpha, even if born to a scentless Omega."
At the airport, Derek parked in a prominent spot. "Luna, should you call Alpha Finn?"
Checking the time and assuming his plane had landed, I dialed his number. The service indicated he was unavailable.
"The flight must be delayed. We'll wait," I said, trying to mask my disappointment.
After another hour passed with no sign of him, I tried calling again. Still nothing.
"Let's wait a bit longer," I suggested, knowing flight delays were common. Sometimes they could stretch for hours.
Two hours later, I dialed again. "Hello?" I asked eagerly.
A brief silence was followed by a female voice. "I'm sorry, he's in the restroom. I'll have him call you back."
Before I could respond, the call ended.
I stared at my dark phone screen, momentarily confused. I knew Finn hadn't taken his female assistant on this business trip.
"Who was that?" Aurora growled softly, her protective instincts flaring. "Is he cheat us?"
"Don't jump to conclusions," I told Aurora.
Though ours was a contract marriage, Finn had always been a model husband in public. He wouldn't cheat. He wouldn't risk the pack's stability that way.
I should trust him.
After all, isn't trust the foundation of any marriage?
But ten minutes passed. No call back.
After waiting another five minutes, I reluctantly dialed again. The call rang for so long I thought it would go to voicemail, but finally, that deep, magnetic voice I knew so well answered: "Hello, Olivia?"
"Finn, where are you? Derek and I are waiting in parking area D at the terminal. You can come straight here."
There was a pause on the other end. "Sorry, my phone was off after the flight. I've already left the airport."
My smile faded instantly, disappointment washing over me. The woman's voice echoed in my memory, but I pushed down my suspicions. Finn was an Alpha with many business associates—it could have been anyone.
"Then—shall I wait for you at home?" I bit my lip. "I have something important to tell you."
"Fine. I have something to discuss with you as well."
"I'll have dinner prepared—your favorites..." I offered, hoping to recapture some warmth.
"Eat without me. I have matters to attend to. I'll be home later."
Swallowing my disappointment, I replied evenly, "Alright."
As I was about to hang up, I heard that same female voice in the background: "Finn, I'm sorry, Olivia called earlier and I forgot to tell you..."
My heart sank, and I frowned, about to ask who she was, when the call abruptly ended.
Looking at my phone, I pressed my lips together and said to Derek, "Let's go home."
From Derek's expression in the mirror, I could tell he'd pieced together what had happened. He drove away from the airport in silence.
That evening, I had little appetite but forced myself to eat for the sake of our pup. The television played in the background as I curled up on the sofa with a cushion, frequently checking the time.
It was already ten o'clock.
I yawned, the pregnancy fatigue hitting me hard, and before I knew it, I had drifted off.
In my half-asleep state, I felt myself being lifted. Through the fog of sleep, I caught the familiar scent of cold pine and cedar mixed with alcohol.
"Finn?" I murmured.
"It's me," his deep voice confirmed.
"You've been drinking..."
"Just a little, with a friend."
Later, half-awake, I heard the sound of the shower running, and shortly after, felt the mattress beside me shift and sink.
A large hand landed on my waist, tracing along the curve of my body before boldly moving upward to cup my breast, its touch heavy with desire and intent.
"Mmm... not tonight..." I protested weakly, subconsciously protecting our unborn pup.
His hand paused, then moved to rest on my back. "Sleep, then."
I wanted to stay awake, to tell him about our baby, but pregnancy fatigue was overwhelming. As I drifted off, I vaguely realized he hadn't given me his usual goodnight kiss on the lips.
When I woke the next morning, Finn's side of the bed was empty, though still warm. He must have gone for his morning run—a ritual he never missed, regardless of weather or workload.
I smiled, thinking about how his disciplined nature would make him a wonderful father.
After showering, I went to the closet and selected a white suit for Finn, adding a red striped tie—a happy color for our happy news—and laid them on the bed.
Downstairs, Finn had returned from his morning run and sat on the sofa in casual clothes, looking up as I descended the stairs. He set aside some documents. "Let's have breakfast."
After we finished eating, I took a deep breath, my face brightening with barely contained joy and anticipation. "Finn, I have something to tell you."
If he knew about our baby, surely he would be happy too?
"I have something to tell you as well," he replied, his tone measured and calm.
"You go first," I offered with a sweet, slightly shy smile.
"Olivia," Finn said, using my full name as he stood and picked up the documents from the sofa, "I think we should divorce."
He extended the papers toward me. "This is the divorce agreement. Look it over and let me know if you have any concerns. I'll do my best to accommodate you."
Is he really going to divorce me?
Everything was fine—so why did he suddenly want a divorce?
My world stopped spinning. The words hit me like a physical blow, knocking the air from my lungs. Aurora howled in anguish inside me.
After what felt like an eternity, I finally found my voice again, my lips moving as I struggled to repeat those devastating words: "Divorce?"
