Naomi’s POV
I woke up with a terrible headache.
A groan escaped my lips as I slowly opened my eyes. At first, everything was blurry, but when my eyes finally adjusted, I knew something was wrong.
I didn’t recognize the place.
I blinked a few times and looked around. The ceiling above me was huge. Cream curtains covered the large windows, while dark wooden furniture filled the room. Everything looked expensive.
This was nothing like my bedroom.
There was also a strange smell in the room. It was a man’s cologne, and I had no idea whose it was.
I slowly sat up, but the moment I did, pain shot through my head.
“What the hell?” I whispered, pressing my fingers against my temples.
Where was I?
I looked around again, trying to remember how I had gotten there. I tried to think about the night before, but my mind was almost completely blank.
Then I looked at the bed.
That was when I saw him.
I froze.
A naked man was lying beside me.
My eyes widened as I stared at him. He was fast asleep, his chest moving slowly as he breathed. His dark hair was messy, and one of his arms was resting above his head.
I stared at him for a few seconds before looking down at myself.
My heart dropped.
I quickly grabbed the sheets and pulled them around my body.
No.
What had I done?
I sat there, trying to remember what had happened. Slowly, small pieces of the night started coming back to me.
I remembered the party, the loud music, the alcohol, and the laughter. I remembered someone’s hand around my waist and a deep male voice near my ear.
Then I remembered the elevator.
And the kiss.
My eyes widened.
I had slept with him.
I had actually slept with a complete stranger.
The worst part was that I couldn’t even remember his name.
I covered my face with both hands.
“Oh my God.”
I tried to remember more, but everything was mixed up in my head. I remembered drinking too much and laughing with people I barely knew. I also remembered being alone with him.
But his name was still missing from my memory.
I slowly lowered my hands and looked at him again.
He was still sleeping.
Good.
I needed to leave before he woke up.
I carefully climbed out of the bed, keeping the sheet around my body as I looked for my clothes. My dress was on the floor beside the bed. One of my heels was near the couch, while the other was under a chair.
My handbag was a few feet away.
I quickly picked everything up and hurried into the bathroom.
After locking the door, I leaned against it and closed my eyes.
“What did you do, Naomi?”
I already knew the answer.
I had been drunk. Very drunk. And drunk Naomi had clearly made a very bad decision.
I changed quickly and stood in front of the mirror.
My hair was a mess, and most of my makeup was gone. There was also a small mark on my neck that made my stomach twist.
I touched it for a second before pulling my hand away.
I didn’t want to think about it.
I picked up my handbag and looked at myself one last time. I looked terrible.
With a sigh, I unlocked the bathroom door.
When I stepped back into the room, the man was still asleep.
Perfect.
I quickly put on my shoes, grabbed my bag, and started walking toward the door. I was almost there when I heard movement behind me.
I stopped.
A low groan came from the bed.
I slowly turned around.
The man moved under the sheets. His eyes were still closed, and he looked like he was trying to wake up.
“Don’t go…”
I stared at him.
Was he awake?
He wasn’t. He stretched one hand toward the empty side of the bed, his fingers moving across the sheets.
“Come back…”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
I shook my head and turned back toward the door.
“Five more minutes…” he mumbled before going quiet again.
I didn’t wait.
I opened the door and quickly left the room.
I hurried down the hallway, holding my handbag tightly against my side. My heart was still beating fast, but I refused to look back.
I just wanted to get away from that room.
I didn’t notice the small silver bracelet slipping out of my handbag. It fell quietly onto the carpet behind me.
The elevator doors opened, and I quickly stepped inside.
I pressed the button for the lobby and watched the numbers go down.
I still couldn’t believe what had happened. Every time I remembered another part of the night, I felt embarrassed all over again.
When the elevator finally opened, I stepped into the lobby.
Several people looked at me.
I suddenly became aware of how I looked. I was still wearing the same clothes from the party. My makeup was ruined, my hair was a mess, and I looked like I had barely slept.
A few hotel workers glanced at me before looking away. Some of the security guards also watched me as I walked toward the entrance.
My cheeks became hot.
I couldn’t help wondering what they thought of me.
A girl leaving a luxury hotel alone this early in the morning, dressed for a party and looking like she had spent the night there.
They probably thought I was some kind of prostitute.
The thought made me uncomfortable, so I lowered my head and walked faster.
The moment I pushed through the glass doors, the cool morning air hit my face.
I pulled out my phone and opened my ride app, but there were barely any cars nearby. I refreshed the app twice, but nothing changed.
Of course.
It was too early.
I couldn’t keep standing outside the hotel. The last thing I wanted was to go back inside or run into the man upstairs.
I opened my contacts and stopped when I saw Bella’s name. I hesitated for a second before calling her.
The phone rang several times before she finally answered.
“Naomi?”
Her voice was heavy with sleep.
“Bella, please come and get me.”
There was a short silence.
“What?”
“Please,” I said.
“Where are you? And how did you even get yourself into this situation?” she asked.
“I’ll explain later. Just please come.”
Bella sighed.
“It’s barely morning.”
“I know.”
She was quiet for a moment before letting out another tired sigh.
“Send me your location.”
“Thank you.”
I ended the call and sent her my location.
A few minutes later, a familiar car stopped near the hotel entrance. Bella leaned over and unlocked the passenger door.
I quickly got inside.
She looked at me for a long moment.
“You look like you’ve been through something.”
I stared straight ahead.
“I have.”
Bella frowned.
“What happened?”
I held my handbag tightly.
“I’ll tell you when we get home.”
She looked at me for another second but didn’t ask anything else. She started the car and drove away from the hotel.
The roads were almost empty.
I leaned my head against the window and closed my eyes.
I was going home, and at least I was sure of that.
