"My test scores are so low, grandmom is going to kill me " Alexita cried hugging her best friend.
Rian looked at her test paper and frowned, her scores were worse than Alexia's.
"I think you're better off than me " she cried too.
They watched as the others received their papers. And just like them, no one had a happy face apart from one classmate. The teacher praised him and told the others to be like him.
"Why don't we just ask him to help us?" She whispered to Rian as he moved back to his seat.
Rian frowned even more, "Hell no, then everybody in class will think we are weirdos too "
"But we will get better at this " she threw her test paperback at the desk.
Rian shook her head in objection. But Rian knew if her scores kept being poor then her scholarship would be gone. And she needed it so her grandmother would not go on to suffer from her school expenses. She kept stealing glances at his face during the next classes. He had not noticed her stares but his friends did.
After classes were over she drugged the angry Rian to his seat. His friends moved back when they saw them approach, he looked up after she knocked on his desk.
She froze the moment his dark eyes met hers. Even with his big glasses, she could see his pretty face. She breathed and wondered if her classmates had something wrong with their eyes. This strange classmate was a gem hiding behind his weird personality and corner seat.
"Am sorry to bother you....but I was wondering if you could tutor me?" she said.
He was silently observing her. After saying what she intended to say, Alexita handed in her test paper.
He took it still not saying anything and nodded.
Her pale face brightened, "Really?" She asked him again making sure he had accepted. When he nodded again she smiled "Thank you "
She left with the shocked Rian who was still angry at her.
"You talked to him and he accepted " Rian hugged her.
Alexita laughed she was surprised too but her courage had heightened when she thought about her Grandmom.
"I hope this helps me with my studies," she said.
"Or turn your school life a mess. Remember you just talked to the weirdo of the class so everyone is going to keep bothering you about it " Rain let out.
She ignored her friend's remark and waved goodbye. Alexita walked home in happy spirits.
The next day news about her asking the smartest classmate in class to tutor her had travelled through her fellow students. She had ignored their remarks all through the day but she didn't care for them.
The boy she had asked yesterday had approached her table during lunch and asked to join them. She agreed and pushed Rian aside.
Her eyes had stayed glued to his face, she smirked thinking about what he looked like without his glasses. His black lashes fluttered as his eyes met hers again.
"I think it would be better if you changed seats," he said.
Still lost in her thoughts Rian pushed her hand bringing her back to reality.
"Talking to you " Rian whispered to her.
Alexita turned to him with a smile, "If you think it will help then I agree " she stammered.
After lunch, Alexita shifted her stuff to his desk. Organised and neat she was forced to arrange her so she match his, excited she looked forward to their interactions.
But by the end of the last class, she was exhausted but still had to stay behind for their tutoring sessions.
After saying goodbye to her friend she bought snacks and moved to class.
He was there sitting with his friends. They stopped chatting when she reached the and welcomed her.
"I hope you don't mind us joining you guys," one of his friends said.
She smiled shaking her head. They introduced themselves. She had laughed that even with being classmates Alexita had never known their names.
He was the last to introduce himself.
"Ash," he said after she said hers.
"Ash, Ash, Ash " it kept repeating in her head.
Was it going to be a curse or a blessing to her life for creating this friendship with Ash? She didn't know the cause now all she thought about was his name and pretty lashes.
