Chapter 1

Mr. Calhoun, a 70 years old pensioner who retired from the civil service as a messenger.he retired 10 years ago after attaining the compulsory retirement age of 60.he has tried his hands on several different business but was not successful.he had then decided to acquire an empty land where he built a mini house where he lived with his family and also built a 20 room apartment which was all rented out to tenants.

He constructed a public tap where people from far and near came to fetch for an exorbitant price.he did all these from the gratitute he collected after retirement which ran into millions.

He was popularly called big daddy and he proudly answered whenever he was called.

He tormented his tenants and made life difficult and unbearable for them.at a particular meeting that he had called on a Monday morning he spelt out various unbearable rules to them.

"I have called this meeting for me to spell out the new rules and regulations that you all must abide by if truly you still want to remain in big daddy's house. these maybe slightly different from the ones you were told when you moved in but be rest-assured that all is for a better co_existence among us all,"he said.

"Big daddy.please make it snappy.you were supposed to have a prior notice to this but you just started knocking on our doors this morning for a rather too emergent meeting. Please make do because we all have our business to attend to," the new tenant who always sounded like a businessman said.

will never be patient, you talk as if you are the only one that is working or that ever worked. I worked with the government for thirty-five years and still attended to the meeting my landlord called anytime of the day. We even sometimes spend the whole day in meetings and the government understands.why is yours so different ?" He snapped back at henry angrily.

"If you don't say what you have to say I might as well leave this minute. This is Monday morning and you can't use yours to disturb mine," henry raved, threatening to leave the meeting.

"You leave and you will find your loads waiting for you outside by the time you return," the landlord shouted.

"Try it and you will regret ever building a house in your life," henry said angrily.

"Baba, please,go on. We all have appointments to keep with," the majority of the tenants pressurized.

"Okay, since you all are too busy to have a meeting with your landlord, I shall spell out the most important first and the rest can come later. Henceforth all tenants must be in by six p.m. and nobody leaves before eight a.m. The gate shall be under locks and keys to ensure strict adherence. We shall see later for the remaining," he said and walked out of the meeting.

You are a joker.if you try this with others and it worked out for you ,it won't work with this present set of tenants," Henry and some other tenants barked loudly. 

"Can you imagine this drunk? Is he drunk again this early morning ?" Mrs. Linda, the single parent of two retorted.

"He is definitely mad," others muttered and they all left for their various places of work.
