"Isabella, Jason wants to kill me!"

Emily's hand trembled lightly as she clung to her phone, an insurance contract tossed aside nearby.

The voice of her best friend, Isabella, came from the other end of the call: "No way, are you just guessing blindly?"

"I secretly peeked at his phone and discovered that he knows the driver who hit me before. It wasn't just an ordinary accident, they planned it together!

"And also, today I found this insurance contract. The insured person is me and the beneficiary is him, and the coverage amount is a whopping five million dollars! But I have never bought any insurance. He did all this behind my back!"

There was a moment of silence on the other end before Isabella replied, "How is that possible? He treats you so well. You have a child together and are about to get married. Why would he do this?"

Emily also couldn't understand why he would do such a thing! They had been in love for four years. She even sold the house her parents left her to support his clothing factory and diligently helped him manage it. How could he be so heartless?

"Do you have proof?" Isabella asked from the other end of the line.

Emily shook her head: "The chat records are still in his phone."

An insurance contract alone can't prove much. This was why she hadn't alerted the police.

"I want to stay at your place for a few days and report to the police once I have enough evidence," she told Isabella.

"Alright, come over quickly and be careful."

After hanging up, Emily hurriedly began to pack her clothes, but at that moment, the front door banged open with a loud noise.

Startled, she jumped up, ready to shut the door of her bedroom.

Just as she was on the verge of closing it, an arm snaked in from outside, blocking the way. Then, with a tremendous force, the door was flung open.

"Ahhh!" Emily was knocked down and fell to the ground, terrified as she watched the person in front of her slowly approach.

The face that was handsome and refined was now suffused with a murderous intent, contorted in a horrifying snarl.

"Now that you've found out, I might as well deal with it now," Jason slowly approached, grabbing her arm.

"Ahhh! Let me go, let me go!" She struggled fiercely, but he grabbed her by the throat.

"Why... Why do you want to kill me?" Until now, she couldn't understand.

"Why? Of course, it's for money, you’ve also seen it, five million."

Her heart ached terribly as she couldn’t help but protest, "I'm carrying your child, how could you be so heartless!"

"Don't mention any child to me, it’s a bastard, not mine at all!"

"How is that possible! That night —"

"I didn't touch you at all that night!" He roared.

A great shock filled her heart, "How is that possible... that night I was with you —"

That night, on her 20th birthday, she drank too much while celebrating at the Hilton Hotel. Dazed and confused, she ended up in bed with a man. When she woke up, He was sitting beside her — if it wasn't him, who else could it be?

"It was not me!" He screamed with eyes bloodshot, "When I arrived, you were lying naked in the hotel bed — Emily, you shameless woman, if it wasn’t an emergency at the company that I needed to attend to, I would've slapped you to the ground already!"

She was in a state of confusion, her mind muddled.

How could it be? She slept with another man? That’s impossible!

"Go to hell, you and your bastard!" He violently shoved her against the wall.

"Ah!" Her shriek echoed throughout the room.

Five years later, at the Hilton Hotel.

The man looked down at the woman sitting on the sofa, his gaze heavy, "Are you Chloe?"

"I, I am,” She nervously answered.

Why would a bigwig like the president of the Carter Group want to meet her?

"Were you at the Hilton Hotel on the night of May 30 five years ago?"

Chloe tilted her head in thought, and then she remembered. That day was her cousin Emily's 20th birthday and she did book a room at the hotel using her intern privileges.

"Yes, I did." she replied, her heart full of unease. How could he know about that?

"What was your room number?"

"609."

The man's gaze shifted, “Lift up your blouse and show me your lower back.”

The dominance in the man's voice was undeniable and unbearably compelling. Chloe found herself mindlessly obeying his command.

After lifting the hem of her blouse, there was a moment of silence. Chloe waited for a few seconds but heard no further instructions from the man, so she couldn't help turning around to look at him.

His gaze was deep as he observed her, “Do you have a birthmark on your lower back?”

Chloe was taken aback. That wasn't a birthmark, it was a tattoo.

Jason once mentioned that he liked the red butterfly mark on Emily's lower back, so she secretly got a similar tattoo hoping to please him.

Seeing her silence, he mistakenly thought she had confirmed his guess. His dark eyes gleamed mysteriously as he slowly said, "Why don’t you try being my girlfriend first, if we are suitable, we’ll get married. Do you agree?"
