  Someone once asked me, If I got could go back in time what would I change?

  Dear little boy, my sweet little boy.

  I burned all the poems I wrote, I smudged all the faces I drew. Because I don't want you to write your poems or draw your art any longer. I want you to live them. So if I could save you some time this is what I would say;

  Making the starting line up doesn't make you a man, nor does being the strongest, fastest or most handsome. Being a man is not about raising yourself high above the rest, but bending low enough to wash another's feet. Real men don't build their own kingdoms and egos. They are builders of families and carry hearts wherever they may go. And that is a kingdom worth having.

  If I could only teach you one lesson. Something will follow you, will chase after you. When they come after you. Keep moving forward. That is the past and you are made of life and love. You don't belong in a place dead and long gone. So if you write and read my poetry. What I want is for you to read my poetry and be able to breathe again. To hear my sound and remember what your favourite summer felt like. When it lived inside of you.

  You were born of the fire, dear boy; stop settling for the ashes they leave behind.

  So the words that I gather, and all the words that I write, must spread their wings untiring. And never rest in their flight. Till they come when your are sad, and your heart is broken. And sing to you in the night, beyond where the waters are moving down your face. Storm darkened or starry bright.

  And you will fall in love and you will break. The truth is this world is nothing but endings. Maybe you are in love with someone. And maybe she is the love of your life. But their are certain things you should know.

  Hold her with utter pride and affection, just like we did when our mother taught us how to walk. Never let your day go without making her smile, and stay forever with her like hands of a clock.

  Ask her of the battles she had fought. There are days she will feel ugly or used. Paint the colors in the colorless world of hers.

  And if she breaks your heart. And the people you thought would stay, leave. Do not harden, do not change. As a rose rises in the cracks of a cement brick. Love yourself. For my boy the most powerful weapon will drive you for the rest of your life. Always remember... Tattoo it on your heart. Engrave it on your walls. Chant it everyday you wake.

  Love makes me stronger, hate..

  Hate makes me unstoppable.
