Janet Rivera's POV

Why am I here, still trapped? Will I ever go out and run in that rain, or feel the heat, I could only imagine the winds harshly hitting my face. I could never even take a peek. Her eyes are everywhere, she watches my every move and one wrong step, and it's my doom. Not like, I am already facing my hell.

How could your own parents just leave you without any explanation and hand you over to the devil, did they even have a little bit of affection for me? I guess not.

I groaned in pain as I tried sitting up, glass pieces everywhere, not a peck of light. A whole mansion but nowhere to hide. It's torture to live in a beautiful place and never get to admire the beauty it offers. Instead, you need to keep looking over your shoulder, living in fear.

But as they say, even the darkest of clouds can have a silver lining to them.

Nathan Rivera's POV

Papers, papers and what we have here, more papers.

Fucking hell, I didn't sign up for this. Yes, I wanted to be a doctor but not own a hospital. It's hard with the bills and taxes.

"Sir?" My maid cat walked towards me slowly. "Do you need some help?"

Yes, can you get the fuck out of here! I thought to myself.

I got myself a maid to take care of my food and cleaning, but right now she was being a slut. I am not a virgin and not a playboy either. In these past years I have been with 2 girls only. Nothing serious but it lasted for 2 months. I hate when woman throw themselves at me. I have great self—control and that's what makes me not become a player. After owning this place, I've had no time for myself and it's annoying as hell. Plus, that stupid Sean is visiting tomorrow, he said he's got some news for me. Let's hope it's important.

I don't know why I don't like him, even though he has been a father figure to me. Maybe I can get this annoying girl fired by tomorrow.

"Come here." She compelled as I made her sit on my lap.

"This isn't professional, now is it?" I whispered into her ear. She fluttered her eyelashes at me as I smirked and leaned closer.

"It's alright, sir." She bit her lip as I was getting annoyed. I stood up making her fall on the ground and she yelped.

"You are fired, get out." She huffed and tried to speak but didn't, more like I stormed out of the room towards the little garden to take a stroll.

Nathan Rivera's POV

"I hope you don't mind this." He said as he was leaning his head back on the chair that was on my right, against the wall. He looked older than the last time I met him.

He had silver hair showing, wrinkles on his face and his hands often shaking, but other than that, he still looked fine.

"I don't. You have been the father to me and I can't ask for more." I spoke looking down at my patient's file. I kept turning pages as he kept quiet.

"Please do take care of her." He pleaded. "I was not there most of my life for her and she must hate me. She is my angel." I looked up to see his eyes begging as he forced to keep the tears from overflowing his eyes.

"Neither have I seen her nor do I know her but I assure you that she'll forgive you and I promise to never hurt her." I said with a smile as he took a deep breath and patted my shoulder, getting up from his chair.

"You have grown up just like your father, understanding and so kind. I don't doubt you but I just get worried about her." He said as I smile at the memory of my father.

I missed him.

He taught me everything that I know of and I wished so badly for him to be here with us.

"I really wish he was here to see his son finally getting married tomorrow." He laughed and I slowly shook my head at him with a smile.

Marriage was the last thing on my mind but now that I met Sean after a long time and him offering a proposal to me, I couldn't reject it. I couldn't refuse someone's request who was like a father figure to me since I lost mine. I mean, I won't be a bachelor my whole life I suppose.

"I should get going now," he placed his hand on my shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze. "I won't be able to see you for a few months because I'm going to California. But once I come back, I'll make sure to visit you. Take care of her, Nathan."

I got up and stood in front of him as he spoke. I nodded at him as he embraced me in a hug. I pat his back as he let go and slowly left. I knew nothing of what all was about to go down!

Who was she and why was he too protective over her? Why was he not living with his own daughter? I knew nothing but I still said yes.

And I don't know why.

She stood there, still and her head lowered. Not once did I see her eyes. Her hands were crumpled together as she fidgeted with her fingers. Her long hair blowing around her face, making a veil.

"Stop drooling, you can have her for later." My friend Derek teased as my sister snickered. I turned towards him and glared at him and he winked at me in return.

"You almost shitted you pants at your wedding," I snapped. "Don't be such a dork." This time he glared at me as his wife Valeria and my sister Bella burst into laughter, making my lawyer clear his throat and eye us.

We were all standing in my lawyer's room for a court marriage. I decided a court marriage to be the most sensible option for two reasons. One, I didn't have much of friends or family, and second, I didn't even know who she was and what she wanted. Even her mother didn't talk much, silent as she stood beside her daughter.
