Once upon a time there lived a queen with her beloved daughter. Little Princess was very beautiful as well as very kind. And everyone were very fond of her. Princess had a fairy godmother and she also used to take care of the princess. As the princess grew old, Queen fixed her marriage with a handsome prince. Queen sent her daughter to her husband’s palace with a cart full of gold and diamonds. And fairy gifted her a magic horse which could talk and also gave her a lock of her hair and said “this is enchanted hair it would heip you in any difficulty” said the fairy.

Princess set off to the prince’s palace accompanied by a maid. Maid was not servile infact she was vile. She was jealous of the princess. She longed to become a princess herself, and to wear the jewelries and luxurious clothes like the princess.

the princess set off with her wicked maid in her magic horse. After travelling for a while princess felt thirsty. So she halted besides a lake then she told her maid “fetch me some water from the lake, maid.”

But the maid said furiously “go and fetch the water yourself if you want”

humble princess went to the lake silently, at that time lock of hair started to talk “if queen came to know about this she would be furious”

Princess hunched towards the river and scooped up water from the lake, at that time lock of hair accidentally slipped from her hand and fell into the lake.

Maid was delighted by seeing this, “princess had lost the enchanted hair now she is powerless” thought the maid. She threatened the princess “give me your dress and crown and wear mine instead.”

Poor princess obeyed the wicked maid. After swapping the dress now the maid looked like princess and they continued their journey.

Soon they reached the prince’s palace, prince welcomed them. He mistook the maid as the princess and took her inside the palace, by seeing the real princess prince asked “who is this pretty girl who came with you?”

“oh… that… thats my maid. give her some job in the palace” fumbled the maid

“ she can assist the boy who takes care of the goose” said the prince.

“oh thankyou and I want one more thing”

“please feel free to ask my lady” said the prince.

“the horse which I came in was very violent . I almost fell on the way, I want to abandon such violent animal as it may cause harm to some one else as well” said the maid by pointing at the fairy’s magic horse.

She was afraid that the the magic horse would talk and it might reveal her identity to the prince.

Prince agreed to the maid’s demand and kept the horse in dungeon.

From next day onwards princess was asked to take care of the goose with the boy. The boy and the princess took the goose to the river, princess sat on the river bank at that time her hair fell down due to the wind and the boy noticed that it was gold. He ran to the princess and began to tug her hair and tried to pull it off.

Princess felt painful and she sang “blow breezes blow let the boys hats go. Blow breezes blow let him after it go”

Soon a strong wind blew and took away the boys hat and the boy began to run behind the hat and at that time princess tied up her hair and as the boy came back whole hair was tied up.

He was angry at the princess about this and the next day he went to the prince and told him that “your majesty I don’t want to work with the new girl, she is very mean”

“tell me what happened and tell me the truth only” said the prince.

The boy was forced to say all the things that happened.

Next day prince followed the goose girl and as the previous day her hair was undone due to the wind and at that time the prince noticed that the girl had shiny golden hair and she looked like a princess. goose girl then went to dungeon in which her horse was locked in and prince followed her. She caressed the magic horse and it started to talk to her “princess, if your mother knew what the maid is doing to you she would be heart broken. If she comes to know that she has disguised as princess and took your place she would be enraged”

Prince heard this and came forward and talked to the girl. “is it true what the horse said? Reveal your identity” he ordered.

“yes, it is true. I am the real princess and its my maid in my dress pretending to be me” she said with tearful eyes.

Prince was furious hearing this, he at first arranged a feast to all the palace members. Maid and princess were also invited to the feast and after the feast he said “today I will tell you a story of a princess. ” then she told everything that the princess said and then asked to everyone “what you think should be done to the wicked maid”

“she should be thrown into dungeon’ said the maid by thinking that its just a tale.

“you are right ”said the prince “guards take this wicked maid to the dungeon”

Maid was startled by hearing this. She realized that it was not just a story that the prince said and her secret is revealed.

Guards promptly took the maid to the dungeon at the princes behest.

And the prince married the princess and both of them lived happily ever after.
