Finns POV

Today was shaping up to be the worst day of my likely to be tragically too short life. I tipped the bottle to my lips, hoping for one last drop. I was just starting to feel decent and mellow. It has been an irritating week, my first in this new town, and some of the kids at my new high school were snobby and cliquish, more so than at my old school.

Why did we have to leave?

I was the new kid at a huge school. It's not some small town with under five hundred kids at the high school where everyone wants to be your friend. It's everyone staring at you and no one helping you when you're lost.

Thankfully, there have been some nice people. There's Delila, a girl with an umber skin tone that always has perfectly done makeup on it, brown eyes that shine like stars, and who stands to be about 5'6. With her came her girlfriend, Margot.

Margot is the sweetest girl I've ever laid my eyes on, however, she hates to show it. She acts tough around others but goes soft the second she sees Delila. She's always wearing black clothing to match her hijab and makeup.

Then there's Matt and Mateo, two people I clicked with the second we were sat by each other in chemistry. Mateo is someone anybody would fall for with his crazy good looks, he truly has me flabbergasted anytime I look at him. He has light brown skin with curly brown hair and bushy eyebrows, only standing slightly above me in height.

Matt was also to die for, with his curly blond hair, blue eyes, and sharp jawline he's a sight for sore eyes. He intimidated me at first, being buff and on the football team, but really all he wants in life is to make those around him happy and we clicked instantly.

I just moved from California and it was a big change. I'd never moved before and never thought I'd have to until my dad decided to cheat on my mother. She then met my stepdad, Drew. She fell for him immediately and made me move with her to live with him and his daughter, Lily. I don't mind the divorce, I never liked my father and his angry ways. What bothered me was the move, it turned my entire life upside down.

I just missed my bus and have to wait for my mom to come pick me up. She's still at work and probably won't be able to come until six. I check my phone for the time and it reads 3:28. Great. I've been sitting here for only 28 minutes and I'm bored out of my mind. I decide to take out my homework and do some of it so I won't be up all night.

Halfway through taking out my homework a car stops near me. That's strange, everyone should be gone by now. I look up and see a black car that seems to be really expensive. I never really was that interested in cars, it just didn't excite me. A handsome guy steps out of the car.

He's tall, definitely a couple of inches taller than me. He has a buzzcut and tan skin, a septum piercing that seems to fit him perfectly, however a nervous look on his face. I see him looking at me so I look back down at my homework.

I hear footsteps coming my way and my eyes stay glued to the paper. I hear someone clear their throat and I look up to see the tall man standing in front of me. I can't help but let my thoughts travel to think of him being a serial killer, someone who's going to drag me into the woods and murder me for looking at him.

"Do uh, do you need a ride?" He asks.

Holy shit.

This man might just have the most attractive voice I've ever heard in my entire life. It was deep, but not too deep, seeming to fit his looks perfectly. For some strange reason, I can't stop staring into his eyes. They're memorizing me as each second passes.

"Hello? You there?" He asks. His words knock me out of my trance and I focus back on forming a response.

"No thanks, I've got a ride home." I said, looking back down at my paper. I start fidgeting with my fingers as he takes a breath.

He grumbles something but I can't hear it. I look up to find him retreating to his car. I'm thankful the man didn't persist but I also couldn't help but want him to stay. Before I can watch him drive away, my attention is brought to my phone as it rings.

"Hey, sweetie do you think you could walk home? I have to stay late for a big project here and Drew has to stay late too. There's some money in the junk drawer for you and Lily to get some pizza." My mom speaks into the phone.

Well, that's just great, now I have to walk home and it looks like it's about to start storming.

"Yeah of course mom, love you." I say and hang up after she responds. I can't help but think that maybe I should've taken that guy up on his offer, risk the chance of death to stay safe from the rain. I put my homework back in my bag and swing it over my shoulder.

I start to walk back home and feel it start to drizzle. As I began to run and feel my bag move side to side, I think about the reason I was late for my bus. Why'd Mr. Flynn make me stay back to help clean up? I was quiet the whole time and didn't make a mess of anything. I grumble as I feel it start to rain harder.

I see my house up ahead and run faster, I make it to the front door and push it open with all my strength, it being a lot heavier than it needs to be. I drop my bag on the floor and take off my shoes after closing the door.

"Lily, I'm going to order pizza come downstairs!" I yell and I hear footsteps upstairs. She comes racing down the stairs.

"Is plain alright?" I question.

"Yeah! Can we watch a movie together tonight? It's a Friday so I don't have school tomorrow!" Lily shouts. I love Lily, dearly, I mean I really do, but the girl needs to quiet down sometimes.

"Yeah, yeah, go pick out a movie." I say and take out my phone.

I call the pizza place and take out some plates for Lily and me. I walk into the living room and set them down on the coffee table.

"Alright, what movie are we gonna watch?"

"All of the Harry Potter movies!" She exclaims. Thankfully she picked out movies I actually like. I put in the DVD for the first movie. I hear the doorbell ring and I go to get the door.

I get the pizza and walk back into the room. I still have to do my homework and hang out with Lily. This is going to be a long night.
