Xia Shengge was awakened by excruciating pain throbbing throughout her body. Clasping a hand on her throbbing head, she slowly sat up on the bed, her body feeling as though it had been drained of all energy.
Upon seeing that familiar face, her complexion blanched instantly.
She felt as if something inside her chest was rapidly falling, her mouth opened, but her throat was too tight to let out a sound.
The man's lips curved into a smile slowly, a perfectly crafted appearance complemented by his slender fingers holding a cigarette. As the wisps of smoke lingered about, he presented a cold and sardonic grin. "Little Sister Shengge, long time no see!"
Looking at the clothes scattered on the ground, she stared at him in a daze, "Did we...last night..."
Ji Nanfeng, his slender fingers removing the cigarette from his lips, wreathed in smoke, he cast a glance at her that was both amused and not, "So you thought we just had a naked chat to reminisce last night?"
On hearing his words, Xia Shengge's face turned even paler. The man leaned against the window, emanating perfection as if carved out of a marble, but his smiling face was an undisguised mockery.
Yesterday, Qin Sang took her straight from the airport to the bar. She remembered having a lot of drinks, but why did she wake up in bed, especially in Ji Nanfeng's bed?
"I... I probably drank too much..." Xia Shengge felt that her explanation sounded entirely unconvincing even to herself.
The sunlight slipped through Ji Nanfeng's raised hand holding the cigarette, casting a handsome yet wicked shadow on his face. "So, that was your excuse for seducing me in the middle of the night!"
Xia Shengge's face turned ashen, panic sweeping through her eyes. Her throat felt strangulated as she stammered, "I... seduced you?"
Ji Nanfeng blew out a smoke ring, momentarily veiling his stunning face behind a mist of blue smoke. "You sent me a message, claiming you still have feelings for me, and wanted to offer your body in a plea for my forgiveness. You forgot that already?"
Without a second thought, Xia Shengge denied it right away, "That's impossible. I didn't do that!"
The faint smile on Ji Nanfeng's lips froze, his eyes breaking from the edges as if irritated by Xia Shengge's attitude, but he quickly and subtly managed to smother his emotions. "Would you like to see it for yourself?"
As he straightened his body and walked towards her, he placed his phone in front of her eyes. The message mirrored Ji Nanfeng's words without a single change. Xia Shengge's breathing got tighter, and her heart contracted in her chest.
"Xia Shengge." He softly calls her name, persuading her gently as if cherishing her truly. "If you left, why did you come back?"
Xia Shengge gazes into his clearly defined eyes, her eyelashes lightly trembling, and her fingertips especially pale from the intense grip. "I'll leave as soon as I attend my grandmother's birthday banquet."
His grip on her chin intensifies at her words, his hawk-like eyes piercing through her like thin ice. "Xia Shengge, when you betrayed me to go abroad with another man years ago, I told you not to come back, not to make me see you again. Otherwise, I won't let you off. Seems like you've forgotten."
Their eyes meet, the man's deep black irises seemingly ready to devour her. Xia Shengge is the first one to turn away, releasing her bitten, pale lower lip. "Then, I'll leave now."
She stands up to leave, but she hasn't walked more than a few steps before her right hand is suddenly pulled back by the man's large hand.
"Ah..." She hasn't had time to react, lets out a surprised yelp, and suddenly finds herself pinned between him and the wall.
He slowly moves his handsome face closer to her, and a low laugh rumbles from his throat. "Xia Shengge, I am getting married. Can you guess who the bride is?"
