"What the hell is this?" Audrey muttered, staring at her phone.

Her eyes remained fixed on the screen as if the words displayed there had suddenly become impossible to understand. She blinked several times, hoping she had misread what she saw. But the post was still there.

Gabriel's Instagram update.

A picture of him standing beside Clara.

The caption beneath it was short, simple, and impossible to ignore.

Mine Forever.

Audrey felt her stomach drop.

For a moment, she couldn't breathe.

Then anger rushed through her like wildfire.

She slammed the door of her Venza shut and stormed across the hotel lobby floor, her heels striking the tiles with enough force to draw attention.

"Hey, take it easy."

A young man towered over her as she accidentally bumped into him.

The difference in their height was obvious, but Audrey barely noticed him.

"Keep that shit to yourself," she snapped without lifting her head.

The man frowned, but she was already gone.

Her face burned with fury as she marched toward Room 307.

The key card in her hand trembled slightly.

Whether it was anger or heartbreak, she didn't know.

The door clicked open.

Inside, Gabriel sat comfortably as though nothing was wrong.

As though he hadn't shattered her world with a single post.

"Gabriel, what the hell is this?" she demanded, thrusting her phone toward him.

Gabriel glanced at the screen.

"What does it look like? Audrey, that's Clara."

Audrey stared at him in disbelief.

"What do you mean that's Clara? You posted her on your Instagram with the caption 'Mine Forever,' and all you can say is that's Clara?"

"Oh, please, cut it out, Audrey."

His response felt like a slap across her face.

No guilt.

No apology.

Nothing.

Gabriel tossed his phone onto the bed before walking toward her.

"It's not like I started this. We've been dating for years, yet you still can't take your eyes off some Instagram celebrity. I always watched you staring at your phone, hyping and praising him like he's some kind of god. You're not even in his league."

Audrey froze.

The accusation caught her off guard.

"What do you mean, Gabriel?" she asked quietly.

The anger inside her began mixing with confusion.

Her eyes filled with tears she refused to let fall.

"I thought what we had was love. How long have you been carrying all this resentment without telling me? And this is how you chose to repay me? By cheating on me with that..."

"If you ever call her that again, you'll regret those words."

His expression darkened instantly.

Rage spread across his face.

For a second, Audrey felt a chill run through her body.

The look in his eyes was enough to make anyone step back.

But she refused to.

Instead, she stood her ground.

Wasn't it natural for a girl to have a social media crush?

Everyone admired celebrities.

That didn't mean she loved him.

So why was Gabriel acting like this?

Was he jealous?

Or was he simply looking for an excuse?

"Oh, I see," Audrey said, laughing bitterly through her tears. "She's your new money bag? She's a CEO, isn't she?"

Gabriel's jaw tightened.

"I worked myself to exhaustion, Gabriel," Audrey continued.

Her voice trembled.

"I neglected myself just to make you happy. I was in love with you."

The tears she'd been fighting finally escaped.

They rolled down her cheeks one after another.

"I guess I'm the fool here."

Silence filled the room.

A painful silence.

The kind that comes when two people finally realize they're no longer standing on the same side.

Audrey slowly reached into her bag.

She pulled out a set of keys.

The keys Gabriel knew very well.

"I'm done with this shit, Gabriel."

She dropped them onto the nearby table.

"Here are your car keys. You can live your life now."

Without waiting for a response, she turned toward the door.

But Gabriel's voice stopped her.

"Hey."

She paused.

"Think before you act."

Audrey didn't turn around.

"I'm rich now," Gabriel continued. "And I can become the celebrity you've always wanted. So wipe those tears and come back to me. I'll make you into whatever you want."

Audrey slowly looked over her shoulder.

For a second, she couldn't believe what she had just heard.

After everything.

After all the years they had spent together.

After all the sacrifices she had made.

That was what he thought she wanted?

Money?

Status?

Fame?

The tears on her face dried instantly.

Only disgust remained.

"Fuck off."

The words left her mouth without hesitation.

She tightened her grip on her bag and walked away.

This time, she didn't stop.

As she stepped out of Room 307, only one question echoed through her mind.

Had Gabriel ever truly loved her?

Or was it only the wealthy version of himself he loved?

The moment she entered the hallway, a familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Hey, young lady. Try having some manners."

Audrey stopped.

The same man she had bumped into earlier stood a few feet away.

He was dressed in a neat white collar outfit, his expression filled with disappointment.

"You bumped into me, and all you could say was 'keep that shit to yourself?' That's so rude for a lady."

He mimicked her earlier reaction.

Normally, Audrey would have apologized.

Normally, she would have cared.

But nothing felt normal anymore.

"I don't have time for your problems," she replied.

Her eyes never left her phone.

The man stared at her for a moment before shaking his head.

Audrey walked away.

The hotel suddenly felt suffocating.

She needed air.

She needed distance.

She needed anything that wasn't Gabriel.

The second she stepped outside, she called her best friend.

"Hey, Muna, where are you?"

The moment Muna answered, Audrey broke down.

A sob escaped her lips.

"Gabriel is an asshole."

Tears streamed down her face.

People walked past her.

Cars drove by.

Nobody noticed the heartbreak consuming her.

Or maybe they did and simply didn't care.

Audrey continued walking while talking on the phone.

Her mind replayed every moment she'd shared with Gabriel.

Every promise.

Every sacrifice.

Every late night.

Every dream they built together.

Had it all been a lie?

She deserved an explanation.

Even if he couldn't explain everything.

Even if he needed time.

An apology would have been enough.

Just one sincere apology.

But instead, he chose Clara.

Her vision blurred as fresh tears filled her eyes.

Her entire world felt like it was spinning.

Like the ground beneath her feet no longer existed.

Then a cab pulled over beside her.

Without resistance, Audrey opened the door and climbed inside.

The driver asked for her destination.

She barely heard him.

Her head felt like it was about to explode.

Everything hurt.

The silence inside the cab was almost unbearable.

Then suddenly Beep.

Her phone lit up.

Audrey frowned.

A notification.

She slowly wiped her tears and looked down at the screen.

The moment she read it, her breathing stopped.

Her eyes widened.

Disbelief washed across her face.

More tears escaped her eyes.

Not because of Gabriel.

Not because of Clara.

Not because of the breakup.

This was something else.

Something impossible.

Something that shouldn't have happened.

Her fingers trembled violently as she stared at the message.

The sender's name made her blood run cold.

Because the message wasn't from Gabriel.

It wasn't from Muna either.

And it wasn't from anyone she knew.

It contained only few words.

Some sort of words that changed everything.

And as the cab disappeared into the night, Audrey continued staring at the screen.

Unable to move.

Unable to speak.

Unable to breathe.
