ALEXIS POV
"Stop staring at that screen Sophie!" I warned my older sister. "You've been so absorbed in your laptop for over an hour, it's not good for your eyes!" She broke the staring contest with her computer to look up at me and roll her eyes.
"How about no. You never listen to me so why should I listen to you?" She spat back flipping her hair over her shoulder before looking back at the screen in front of her.
What could be so important?
"Because this is a free country and I don't need to listen to you because I really don't have an interest in what you say about how I should dress!" Sophie has long wavy brown hair that compliments her seemingly black eyes. She also has a body that I could only dream of having.
If you can't tell by now Sophie and I are sharp opposites. She goes shopping every weekend and gets her nails done. Not to mention all of the guys that ask her out on a daily basis.
She rolled her eyes yet again, "Exactly it's a free country so I don't need to listen to you either. And tell that to the number of guys that call you. Oh wait, no one ever calls you besides that weird guy that always wears those huge glasses and suspenders." She paused to think for a moment before continuing, "Um...Andy was it? If you would fix yourself up a bit and look a little presentable, maybe the male population would notice your existence."
"Are we seriously gonna have this conversation again, Soph?!" I yell getting a bit annoyed that she involved Andy in this conversation, again. I have two best friends Jazz and Andy, we have been friends since the fifth grade.
Seriously though, I'm comfortable like this. I shouldn't need to change myself to please others.
"We wouldn't have to have this conversation if you would just change the way you dress, look at Jasmin for example." She said as she turned off the laptop. Sophie refers to Jazz a lot when it comes to talking about my choice of fashion. Jazz is a lot like Sophie, she uses makeup, keeps up with the latest trends and she also wears those killers that girls at my school call heels. I mean who is comfortable wearing those things? I read that they are not good for the heel of your feet.
My best friend and sister always try to change the way that I dress but I never let them. I think its completely stupid to dress up to go to school like it was some sort of beauty pageant.
Let me introduce myself.. my name is Alexis Coleman, I have dark brown, somewhat black long hair. My eyes are a stunning shade of green, I personally think they could make the wicked witch of the west jealous. I also think that my eyes compliment my petite figure really nicely. My older sister shares some of my features as well, but we both got our looks from our mom.
My friends list isn't long at all. My two best friends are the only ones that I really need, they're awesome friends and they're always there for me when I need them to be.
Andy has honey brown hair that shines and he also has green eyes that make him stand out. Green eyes are just delightful. He is just like me and that's why our friendship has lasted this long, we agree on a lot of topics.
Jazz on the other hand has long silky blonde hair and fabulous blue eyes that when you look at them your worries would just disappear. Her height is about average for her age.
After the brief argument I had with Sophie, I sat at my reading table and played sudoku. Yes, I enjoy playing sudoku, while my peers prefer going to parties and getting wasted. Complete waste of time.
After winning a few games I laid in bed and stared at the ceiling fan spin in circles for a few seconds before I got an incoming text from Andy.
Andy: Hey there!
Me: Hi Andy
Andy: Are you ready for school to start?
Me: Not really.. I don't want to see Christina again this year.
I close my phone and lay it on my chest. Christina is so mean. She's just a baleful person. I don't understand why she targets me, does she not have anything better to do?
Andy: Ignore her, she's just rude
Me: Totally..
Andy: Aly, I wanted to tell you something important...
Me: Okay, go for it.
I close my phone again, my heart is hammering in my chest. Not for any particular reason, just the fact that, that sentence is a daunting one.
Andy: Never mind, it's nothing important.
He's always acting weird around me, Jazz thinks he likes me, but I don't think so. After all, the male population doesn't notice me in that way.
After playing a few more games of sudoku out of boredom, I fall asleep thinking about the school year in front of me.
