“Ouch! Not too much, stupid! It hurts” I said

I shouted as he put medicine on my arms which has many bruises and it’s bleeding, though I cannot feel it, I act like I do.

“Just don’t move! Don’t call me stupid, you keep on moving that’s why it hurts” he shouted and glared at me

“This is your fault!” I said with an expression that would look like I’m hurting, well my acting skills are getting better and better

“It’s not my fault, you pushed me first!” Jake answered then I rolled my eyes and fix myself

“Winter! Stop moving!” he said again

Before I could answer, I saw my dad on the door standing and looking mad as hell.

“You are so dead” I said looking at my dad, smiling

“What?” he answered me and looked at me, he understood.

“shit” he whispered and slowly turned to look at my dad

“What happened?” My dad said with anger and concern voice

“I’m fine, you both are acting like it’s going to be the end of me” I said

“Jake” my dad said while looking at me

“she pu-----“ before he could answer I cut him off and said “There was just a rock, which I didn’t notice, stupid rock!” hoping that it would make my dad laugh, but unfortunately didn’t

“huh!” Jake huffed

“Young lady I always tell you to be careful! You know I cannot let this pass what if something happens to you worse than this?! You know you can’t fe---“ before he could finish he’s speech which I heard over and over again “Dad!” I shouted looking at him with warning

“We need to talk about this, let’s go home now, thank you again Jake” he said looking at Jake

“Bye stupid, thanks again!” I said, and winked at him, he just laughed at me and wave me goodbye. Then we left at their house. Luckily his parents weren’t home.

The drive to our house was really quiet that I hear my dad breathing. I tried to sleep or pretend to sleep just to get home quiet and hopefully he would carry me to my room and just let this pass. I heard that we arrived, and just closed my eyes.

“Winter, get up and go inside, I know you are not asleep” My dad said calmly

“Damn! Why do you know me so well, Jake doesn’t even know when I’m lying!” I said irritated and rolled my eyes

He got out first then I followed him inside, I keep on pinching my elbows because Veronica told me that it works whenever she gets home late, and her parents won’t scold her.

When I got to the living room, I didn’t stop there; of course I’m not stupid. I tried going to my room as fast as possible.

“Stop” My dad said, he is unnaturally calm, and this worries me

I stopped and walk to where he is, sat down on the couch.

“So, you still didn’t tell Jake?” he said, and he is still calm, why is he calm! I thought but hey Veronica’s pinching elbow thing works, I grin

“Uhh….because I don’t want to? And besides, he’s not asking” I said matching his calm tone

“I thought you hate liars?” he answered me, putting his hands in his lap and looks at me

“ I do, and I’m not lying, he’s just not asking me anything, and if you are referring to my acting, it’s not lying” I defended myself, well in fact, I would not consider that as lying

He smirked “I don’t want you getting in trouble again, if this happens again, I will make sure someone is at your side 24/7, got it?” he said

“But dad” I said but he cut me off “No butts young lady, I don’t want you getting hurt and if you keep this action of yours up, I will not hesitate, even if you hate me forever” then he stands up, kissed my forehead then said “Go to bed sweetheart, you have school tomorrow” then he left and went to his study

“Ugh!!! I hate this, this, this, I don’t even know what this condition is called!” I said to myself, I went upstairs to my room, took a shower, and right when I was just about to sleep, my phone beeped, I took it.

‘Hey, what’s up’ It’s Jake

‘He didn’t get mad, that was the first, he was just calm’ I replied as I took a towel to dry my hair

‘what? That’s really weird’ he replied

‘yea, I thought so too! Well anyway, pick me up or I’ll pick you up tomorrow?’ I said

‘Pick me up, my dad was mad when he learned you got hurt and took my keys’ He said and I laughed, I love he’s family so much, they care about me more than Jake and they know about my condition except Jake, maybe that’s why they are so protective of me.

‘I love your family hahahaha, okay, pick you up at 7am tomorrow, see you! Need to sleep’

‘You can have them, okay, Goodnight’

Then after he replied, I smiled and put down my phone, then immediately drift off to sleep’

The next day

‘Yo stupid, coming in 30 minutes’ I messaged Jake and went to the bathroom to take a shower and fix myself up for school, after I got out I checked my phone.

‘Stop calling me that! I’m already waiting’ he replied

I step down the stairs, grabbed bacon and kissed my dad on the cheek

“Bye dad, going to be late, and I’m going to pick up Jake” I said while running through the doors

“Okay, take care sweety, remember what I told you” he shouted after me

I got in the car and not long after, I arrived at Jake. I got out and threw the keys at him

“You drive, my head is killing me” I said while we switched places and got in the car, we drove off and he asked.

“Why?” he took something in his bag while driving

“Hey watch it! I don’t want to get involved in any accidents……for now” I shouted, laughing while rubbing my forehead

“Here take this, there’s water inside my bad, drink that” He said, and looks at the road and drives carefully

“Thanks” I said while looking for the water in his bag, and then I noticed there were two water bottles one was purple and other is black

“Hey there are two? Which one?” I asked and raised my eyebrows at him

“The purple one, I know you hate bringing one, but don’t worry I’ll carry it, since you stick to me like glue” He said focusing on the road

I smiled “Thank you very much, I thought it’s for Layla or your other girlfriends or something, you’re to kind and you know me so well” I chuckled then I drank the medicine he gave me

Then we arrived at school, he threw the keys in his bag, indicating he’s driving me home later, I just rolled my eyes. We got to class and met with Veronica after and went on the school grounds.

“So what’s up” Veronica asked

“Not much, just go into an accident yesterday, with you know who” I said yawning

“Not surprised” she said then we laughed, she sat on the table we were at and I was sitting down the bench

“Where is he anyway?” She asked

“I don’t know, maybe hiding from Layla again” I said and chuckled

“Hey, I’m not hiding from her” Jake suddenly appeared

“Fine, then where were you?” Veronica asked

“Dana, she needed help with something” he said without eye contact and put his hand on the back of his head

Whenever he says “help with something” I know that means making out, me and veronica just looked at each other and laughed. I was about to say something when I suddenly heard screaming

“Shit” Jake shouted

He knew I hate screaming and normally I would go coo-coo after, I closed my eyes firmly and my breathing wasn’t normal, he immediately covered my ears until the screaming is gone.

“Thanks” I said opening my eyes but still breathing heavily

“You okay?” Veronica asked while patting my back

I just nodded and held onto Jakes shirt like a child. He held my hand and squeezed it to ensure me it’s okay and it relaxes me for a bit.

“What the hell was that” I said after recovering

“That” Veronica pointing towards a car and a tall man standing beside it, I looked at it for a bit then I looked away, and looked at Jake, he’s also looking at me with concern.

“I’m fine” I said to him to ensure him that I am really okay

“He’s handsome” Veronica said while looking at that guy

I rolled my eyes and said “Handsome? Really? I don’t know about that. And most of handsome people are stupid” I said while looking at Jake and he glared at me, I continued “ Plus, handsome people are just an illusion”

“So you’re saying he’s ugly then?” Veronica asked, and normally she wouldn’t answer me back after saying that.

“Ave---“ I was about to say something when Jake covered my mouth.

Sht Veronica, I hate you. She deliberately answered me because she knows, that guy is already behind us.

“I hate you” I whispered to here and slowly turn around

“Hey” I said with an awkward smile

“So, am I ugly?” the guy said.
