The city lights glow like stars in the night as Ari rides to the Plaza one final time. The winter weather has made her trip longer than usual this time. Snow blankets the streets on this November day as it has every year since she was a small girl. Ari looks through her purse to make sure she is ready when she arrives for her procedure. She shuffles through papers and pulls out her ID and puts on a silver bracelet. For her 30th birthday friends and family pitched in to get her Fated 37, a project headed by a multimillionaire dollar scientist that has found a way to connect people with their soulmate.
The car pulls up to a dark entrance in the back of a huge faculty known as the Plaza. There is a sign on the door that reads "all participants must have bracelet and proper identification to enter." She hesitates for a minute wondering if she is making the right choice.
"Better than being alone I guess....." Ari steps out of the car and swipes her bracelet in front of the scanner on the door and walks in. The hallway is dimly but elegantly lit. Marble floors under her feet as she glides across the floor to the desk up ahead. Instead of being greeted by a person Ari is greeted by a synthesized face on a screen.
"Good evening, welcome to Fated 37. Please step forward for identity scan" the voice tells her. She steps forward and allows the machine to scan her face.
"Access Granted".
A door opens and a man in a lab coat and glasses ushers her into a small suite. Ari follows the man into the room and takes a seat. The room is white with huge windows that project a picture of a sunny day in the country. There is a queen size bed with a purple comforters and big fluffy pillows. On the wall is a television and there is also a desk with a blank journal and some pens. The suite also includes a small bathroom with a garden tub and shower, a vanity and a toilet. There are several fluffy roves and towels for after bathing or lounging.
"Welcome to the Fated 37, Ari. We have been studying your file very closely and we think you will truly enjoy what we have in store for you in the days to come. Dinner is served at 7pm. We will discuss the program at this time with you and the others. Please feel free to move about the facility as you wish. If you have any questions push this blue button on the wall and someone will be happy to assist you", the man in the lab coat then exits the room. Arie is left alone.
