......

I docked low from my window as I watched my parents' car drive away. My neck hurts from being in the same position but the overwhelming joy inside me made it worth it. I let the car disappear from my sight before climbing out of my bed. I hurriedly changed clothes and listened for any incoming footsteps. When I am sure no one was coming to check on me, I heaved out a sigh of relief.

I am finally free for the entire weekend. Hooray!

Steffano told me about the new bar on the East Bayside and I couldn't wait to go there.

I stuffed pillows under my covers and proceeded back to the window. I surveyed the surroundings for any guards or maids before climbing out the fire exit. It was the Oak tree I used to climb down but my parents cut the branches that extended to my room after finding out about my nightly trips to the local bars. Hey, a teenage girl needs to have a life too other than being imprisoned inside the four corners of their mansion.

I turned a corner hiding from an incoming shadow.

"She's not turning yet. There must be something wrong about her," a maid commented as she dumped bags into the garbage bin.

"That's why the master won't introduce her to the society. Such a waste."

I could hear the loud thumping in my chest as the two maids continued to banter their opinions about me. Though I couldn't blame them; it was two months since my sixteenth birthday and I'm still waiting for some miracle to happen.

My mom said it was supposed to be instantaneous but nothing magical happened to me. And dad became more distant, he pretended nothing happened either. Those encouragements I received from him the night of my birthday were washed away with looks of disappointment.

I thought everything would finally change after my birthday but it became more unbearable.

The sound of a beeping vehicle cut off my melancholia. I ignored the maids and focused on the porter that delivers our perishables. I waited for him to reload the empty food crates and make his routine chitchats with the maids before sneaking into the back of the van.

I hid in one of the crates as the sound of a click echoed through my ears. A happy smile plastered on my face.

Sneaking out became my habit and the salvation I needed the most. I had always imagined what the outside world would look like and now I'm seeing it with my own eyes, all my efforts were worth it.

When the van made its fifth turn, I jumped down the dark alley. It would be roughly a three hundred meter walk to the nearest portal. It was eerie quiet and dark but I don't feel any fear. Instead, the darkness made me feel more alive.

I stuffed my hoodie and sneakers into my usual hideout in a hole of a big Sequoia tree.

The lengths that I need to go through. Ugh! I mentally groaned. It's just a waste that I need to go out of town just to get into a bar. I couldn't compromise getting into a local one after my parents harassed the owner of the last bar I went into.

I needed to be more careful.

"Six," I told the portal operator, handing him my money.

"Going a long way, huh? Where are you going to young lady?"

I could just ride the train for safer travel because I have time constraints. I had no choice but to keep up with assholes like this orc. "None of your business. Now, are you getting me in that portal or should I call the police?" They didn't have the permits to operate the portal in the first place  And an orc as an operator? These creatures have zero brains in their big heads. I tap my feet getting irritated.

"Go on. Go on. Get the hell outta here you measly kid," spat the orc shoving me inside the portal.

Pain surged throughout my body and I winced in pain. And this is the very reason why there's a lengthy line of permits you need before opening a portal. It is very dangerous, you could end up in the wrong place or worse your body could end up in different places.

I almost toppled down when I came out of the portal, the pain still lingers. Nonetheless, I am happy to be out in one piece. I made my way to the bar my big brother had been telling me about for days.

It was well hidden in the depth of an abandoned cemetery. The place was glamoured to look like a mausoleum to people without the golden token.

Steffano scored me one before his flight back to college as a gift for my sixteenth birthday.

I waltzed happily as I give the minotaur my token. "Genesis," I whispered. Steffano also mentioned that they were being strict with minors and to be able to get in I need to say the secret password only the VIPs knew.

"Tsk. You look like you still wear diapers. Anyway, get in, just don't cause trouble." I raise my hands through the air.

"Aye, aye captain!" I accidentally glanced at the broken horn of the minotaur but immediately divert my eyes.

However, I was too late to realize that he had already seen me looking. "Get the fuck away from me!"

Scared, I almost run inside the bar. Broken horns for minotaur meant slavery. The guard outside was enslaved to the owner of the bar. The practice was supposed to have been eradicated decades ago but some still get away with it. My heart ached for him.

I sighed and went straight to the bar. The strong smell of flower nectar filled my nostrils. "Ah!" I inhaled deeply.

"What do we have here?"

I smiled at the bartender. "You guess."

"A fairy?"

I chuckled, "Do I look like a winged creature to you? Nah-uh."

"Fairies pose undeniable beauty and youth. If not fairy, what are you then? Such beautiful eyes and fair skin."

"That's for me to know and for you to serve me a drink. Number five feria."

The bartender cocked his head to the side, "Not a fairy but having a fairy drink?"

"I guess, fairies have great taste."

The bartender served my drink which I gulped in one go. "Another," I said winking. "You always full here?" I shouted over the blasting music.

"Yeah. There's hype over the--" he circles his finger through the air.

"Yeah. It's dope. Really good," I said inhaling the intoxicating smell. The scent in the air is so addicting I feel like floating in the air. "This is my song!" I dropped my glass through the counter.

I went straight to the dance floor. I let my body move to the upbeat song, grinding from left to right. Pulling every man that I could get and kissing them.

"What are you?" whispered the man in my arms.

I shook my head. "Why are you afraid to break the law? You in an illegal night club dude," I said pursing my lips and pushing him away. Why do they keep asking me what I am?

I pulled the shirt of the guy next to me and we began dancing and kissing. A few seconds passed and he was shoving a tablet in my mouth. "Open."

"Ah." I swallowed. "What is that?"

"Something to make you feel good."

I see colors exploding around me and the feeling of floating intensified. If my father finds out about all the things I'm doing I wouldn't feel any regret. "I want to feel good," I grabbed the hard thing in his pants. "Want to feel even better?"

"Feisty. I like it. What are you?"

I immediately pushed the guy away. My world was suddenly turned upside down and I'm getting sick to my stomach.

I run my way to the bathroom. There was nothing to puke, instead, I splashed water on my face. I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror. The hazel of my eyes stared back at me.

I punched the mirror. I hated the way I look especially the pale porcelain skin that everybody in the bar loved.

Blood dripped from my hand. I turned the faucet and run water to my wound.

"Anger issues?" someone spoke beside me. A girl in a glittery black dress with long pink hair and orange cat-like eyes; now that's a fairy. "Here, give me your hand."

I felt calm surged to my body. I soon find myself stretching my hand to the girl. "What are you going to do?" I asked like it was a normal thing.

"Healing you." She licked one of her fingers and wiped it on my wound. "There you go. Good as new," she said smiling at me before it changed into a frown. "What are you?"

My blood boiled. "What is it to you?" I turned my back to leave but the girl grabbed my elbow. "Let me go."

"Do you know what are you?" She was now yelling. "Do you know what are you?" she kept repeating.

I twisted my hand but her hold was strong. "What are you psycho?" I snapped.

"You're an Anomaly and you don't know what are you." The girl laughed, pulling me closer to her. She grabbed my Locke's and examined the back of my ear. "All these years I have been searching and here you are. But it is not safe for you to be here."

"What are you talking about?"

The girl put a finger on my lips. "Don't talk. Look at my eyes and listen to me. There are police outside the bar. You're going to walk to them and tell them you are a minor and there's a club here. Do you understand?"

"What? No!" The girl then flicked her fingers and I have the urge to get out. I walked out of the clubs and there were police looking at me strangely. I came out of a mausoleum in the middle of the night. "I am a minor and there's a club inside," I said pointing directly to the face of the outraged minotaur.
