"Let go of me! Stop it!"
"AHH!"
A couple of ferocious-looking women who were dressed in prison uniform were holding Lauren Gomez down.
Her nails were being extracted from her fingers. It hurt so much that she felt like her fingers were being devoured one by one as the pain seeped into her skin and flesh torturously.
And all Lauren could do was to watch each of her fingernails being pulled out from her fingers. The blood from her fingernails slowly dripped down to the floor.
The room was filled with the nauseous smell of blood and mold, which was sickening to the core.
"So what if you're a high-profile lawyer? Look at what you got yourself in now."
A cold and merciless voice was heard by Lauren who was helplessly being held down to the ground.
She desperately tried to raise her head so that she could see who it was. Who would've thought the voice was from an A-list actress who portrayed herself as an innocent and pure figure. It turned out she wasn't like what she seemed to be.
"Madison Ellis, what on earth did I do to make you hate me so much?" She asked in a trembling voice.
"You killed my sister. Isn't that enough for a reason to hate you?" Madison said in a spine-chilling tone while glaring down at Lauren, who was barely alive.
"I swear... I'm innocent!" She shook her head desperately. She seemed to have a hard time to even utter these few words while beads of sweat covered her entire face.
Her face was slowly undergoing a deformation due to the pain.
Even with this extent of torture, Madison was still angry. She ordered her subordinates in a heartless tone, "Don't slow down, keep going!"
Under her orders, her subordinates extracted her fingernails violently at a faster pace.
In just less than a minute, Lauren's nails were all pulled out. The concrete floor was now stained in a dark red color, which was actually the blood from her wounds.
Lauren was shaking in pain, but using all her might, she still managed to stand up with her trembling legs. Her ghastly eyes stared directly at the man who was standing beside Madison.
He was... her former lover! The man who once swore that he would protect her for a lifetime...
It was so different in the past. She still remembered that he would get extremely anxious even when she just had a small cut on her finger.
Yet now, that same man in her memories was standing in front of her, heartlessly watching her nails being extracted.
"Li... Liam..."
She prayed wholeheartedly, "Please... believe me..."
Just like always, his tall and straight figure was dressed in a suit and tie. However, the only thing that was different was the way his cold jet-black eyes were looking at her. All there was left was apathy and darkness.
"Liam, don't tell me you're feeling sorry for her! Don't forget, she's a murderer! What I'm doing here is just to avenge my sister!"
Madison then leaned on his shoulder. Her vicious facial expression instantly turned pitiable and innocent as soon as she faced him.
"This is what she deserves. There's nothing to feel sorry about," Liam Anderson said as he gently stroke Madison's silky soft hair. He assured her, "I'll do whatever you wish."
After hearing his words, Lauren looked at Liam in disbelief.
What did he mean by this was what she deserved?!
Was this actually the man who once spoiled her like a princess? But now, he was acting like her life wasn't worth a single penny.
It couldn't be! He must have misunderstood her, which explained his fury.
She should be able to clear things out as long as she had a chance to explain herself!
She suddenly had a strength that came out of nowhere and broke free from the inmates. She tried her best and stumbled towards the man.
"Liam, that car accident really had nothing to do with me... I swear I wasn't drinking that day. It was Madelyn's car..."
Before she could finish, she fell.
Before she could stand up again, someone stepped repeatedly on her bloody fingertips!
"Argh!!"
Lauren screamed in pain. She struggled to look up and realized it was Liam who was stepping on her left hand.
"Lauren, you make me sick." He muttered these cold words under his breath.
Lauren couldn't believe that he was this ruthless. The pain of hearing these words coming from his mouth hurt far more than the physical pain she was suffering from.
It seemed that he really didn't believe her and despised her from the bottom of his heart!
What's more, he didn't show any mercy despite hearing her cries of agony.
Lauren was struggling to gasp for air from the immense amount of pain. With the desperation of wanting to talk, it was as if she ripped her throat out and said in a hoarse voice, "Liam, have you ever loved me?"
"What I regret most in my life was being with you." Liam said in a cold tone.
"Liam, it was this pair of hands that killed my sister. Why don't we break them today?" Madison suggested insidiously.
Just a split second later, she could hear a crystal clear voice that agreed to her suggestion, "Alright!"
After that, the sound of bones breaking filled the air. The intense pain was too overwhelming that it tore her consciousness into pieces...
