MARRIED

I'm in a dark room, sitting on a sofa, staring at the wall. This room feels empty.

I'm on my white wedding gown, the beads and designs glittered in the dark. I should be happy, since today, I'm officially married. But instead, my feelings were the exact opposite.

I looked at my hand, specifically, on my ring finger— there it is, a ring.

I couldn't fake a smile. Wedding is one of the most unforgettable and precious event in a woman's life, it should be— but this marriage is different.

I married him for convenience, not for love.

"We're married now." I looked at him as he said those disgusting words.

Ew, did he just literally declared that we're married now?

He's wearing a black tuxedo with his hair fixed. We just came home from the wedding— our 'so called wedding'. And when I say 'home', it's our own house that was a wedding present from his parents.

All of our visitors were outside. They're celebrating an 'after wedding party' outside, but the newlyweds are here, throwing disgusting looks with each other.

I gave him a 'what the heck' look.

"Shut up." I stared at him for a second. I'm trap with this man in a marriage— an unwanted marriage.

My blood rises as I noticed how he smiled with mockery.

No, don't use that one on me, Mr. Jacob.

I knew him since college because we're on the same University that time. He was the so called heartthrob of the University, women flock for her. Ew, those women got no taste.

Yes, he has the features that women would drool for. He's a tall, dark, and handsome type of guy. His thick eyebrows that would intimidate you, a pair of brown eyes, pointed nose and a kissable lips. His features shout gentleness, but I know that his attitude isn't.

"Let me repeat it, Amara . . . .We're married now. You married me for money, right?" I rolled my eyes since I can't stand how frank he was.

No way! Marrying someone just for money shows no class at all. And as a socialite, that's a 'no-no' for me.

I was just . . . forced. My parents forced me to marry this guy because our business were falling, close to bankruptcy. And I couldn't just say no to my parents.

"Seems like you're enjoying what you're doing now, huh?" I stood up and fixed my wedding gown.

I looked at his eyes fiercely. He got a brown eyes that could captivate innocent women. Unfortunately, I'm not an innocent woman anymore. Innocent who?

I mentally laughed because of my thoughts.

"This room looks expensive . . ." I said as I trailed my fingers through the couch where I was sitting minutes ago.

I then walked towards the veranda to see the city lights. It was breathtaking. It would be more perfectly romantic if I'm with someone whom I truly loved.

"Hmm, nice," I whispered.

I walked again inside the room just to face him again. His reaction awhile ago didn't even change.

He's not done yet with his mocking ways on me. Well then, let me go out.

I turned my back on him to start walking. I want to go out of this damn room.

"Where are you going?" I stopped midway because of his question.

I managed to continue walking while answering him.

"Away from you, of course . . . .I wanna go out, I'll be back after you calm your nostrils, you mockery King!"

I didn't wait for his reply and immediately leave the room.

Mr. Jacob Guvanich. Yeah, that's his name. As what he said awhile ago, we're married.

As I walked down the stairs, the music and different colors of lights welcomed me. It's a party. The wedding party.

I saw both familiar and unfamiliar faces as I walked to search for alcoholic drinks that I'm sure served by some hired waiters for this event.

"Best wishes, ma'am!" A waiter attended to me with a glass of wine on his hand.

I smiled at him when he handed me the drink. "Thank you."

He then left after that. I shrugged and continued walking, searching for a woman. Where is she?

"Woah, my best friend's wedding is lit! Where is she?!"

When I heard that voice, I instantly wandered my eyes despite the fact that I couldn't properly search for her because of the Disco lights.

"Amara babes!"

A woman wearing a deep neckline dress came to me. We both shrieked and hugged each other.

"Omy gosh! I super missed you!" she exclaimed and hugged me even more. I looked at her back and saw a man, probably, her flavor for this month.

Stacey is my childhood friend, she's an outgoing and a wild woman. She always had her flavor of the month when it comes to boys.

"Likewise, Stacey. I super missed you, too!" I replied with a kiss on the cheek.

"By the way, you were on my wedding today, right? Or you didn't attend?" I asked and search for a couch for us to sit. We would love to catch up and talk.

She laughed, "Why are you even asking? Hello? That's your wedding, my best friend's wedding! Yeah, I was there!" she answered.

She smirked after, "And you should see your face on your wedding! You didn't even show a smile at the church and I'm sure you didn't kiss him back when both of you were announced as newlyweds!"

She sure enjoying teasing me. I rolled my eyes on her.

"Shut up, Stacey."

"No, you know you can't rule me around, Amara!" She then, laughed again.

She stopped midway when she saw that I'm freaking serious and I'm not vibing with the joke.

"Okay, I'll stop now. I'm sorry, but please, just throw a smile today! I didn't even see you smile today!" she touched my cheek forcing me to smile and we both ended up laughing.

"You bitch!"

"You're a bitch, too!"

Stacey didn't disappoint to make me smile. She's one of my comfort zone whenever I have a problem. She's been through my up and downs. Indeed, a great friend.

"By the way, you should at least be happy, Amara. I saw your husband and he's a hottie, you're still lucky!"

I make a face to show how disgusted I was on what she just said.

"Did you just complimented him, Stacey?" I asked her.

"Yes, why? I was just stating the fact— wait, did you already fall for him and now you're jealous?"

My eyes widen with her remarks. No way!

"What?! No, that's not gonna happen! What are you talking, Stacey!"

She came closer to my face and whispered on my ear. "Oh no, Amara. Your husband is on your back."

I sit still on what she whispered. Did he hear all of my blabbering?

Well, he should hear it. I'm not the type of woman who would fall for someone like him.

"So what?" I was about to look back but Stacey whispered again.

"Don't look back. His eyes were piercing . . . he's looking at you."

Wait, what's with the series of whispers are for?

"I don't care. So, what?" I said and looked back. He's already walking towards our direction.

Despite with the dim lights, I can still see how his eyes intimidated me, just like what Satcey said.

I raised my left eyebrow on him, asking why he's coming closer to us.

"Such an innocent. Our parents want to see us," he answered before my question.

"Woah, he used 'our parents', you're really married now, Amara," Stacey whispered.

Jacob then looked at her. And he freaking smile, genuinely.

He smiled genuinely?! He didn't even gave me a smile that's out of mockery, and now he's smiling at my best friend?

"Hi, there. You're my wife's best friend, right?" he asked and offered his hand for a shake hands.

Did he use the word 'wife' in addressing me? What's with the change of attitude?

"Oh, yeah. I'm Stacey, your 'wife's' best friend. By the way, congratulations, you just married the most beautiful woman I know," Stacey emphasized some words that made me look at her.

"Oh, so am I that lucky?" Jacob acted so shock. Tss, what a bad actor.

Instead of waiting for Stacey's reply, I answered him instead.

"Yes, you're so lucky to have me as your wife," I said and walked closer to him.

When I was in front of him, I touched his chest like what a wife always do to her husband. I saw how confused he was through his eyes.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"What? I'm not allowed to touch my husband? That's sad," I acted.

I noticed how his Adam's apple moved. Seconds later, I felt his arm wrapped around my waist, and that made me froze.

"I and my wife wants to see our parents. Please excuse us," he said to Stacey and guide me to walk, arms still wrapped around me.

I looked back at Stacey and saw her mouthing 'Go girl! Wish you luck on your honeymoon!'

Honeymoon, what? That's not even on my mind!

I shrugged the idea and looked at Jacob's arm on my waist.

Guess I'm on my husband's arm. I am really married to Jacob Guvanich now.

Amara Guvanich, sounds good slash bad. Whatever.
