On Valery Travis' wedding day, the groom did not show up.
With the wedding song playing in the background, countless questions were thrown to Valery from the crowd. "Miss Travis, where's Mr. Chilton, the groom? Why is he absent?"
"I heard that Addison Chilton is ugly and paralyzed, is that true?" With that, waves of laughter reverberated across the room.
Needless to say, the man who made such an inappropriate joke was being thrown out by the security guards, but the wedding was nonetheless a disaster.
Now that the truth was revealed, the guests no longer continued their pretentious act. The wedding hall was filled with clamor.
"Word has it that Young Master Chilton is paralyzed from the waist down. Wouldn't the bride have to live her life like a widow in that case..." a man whispered, tittering.
His friend next to him replied, "The bride looks exactly like a sl*t. I'm afraid she is going to cheat on Young Master Chilton!"
"I don't mind helping out..." Snickers echoed off the wall as they talked.
All the nasty comments and criticism flooded Valery's ears. However, all she could do was to endure them; she had to attend this wedding all by herself.
She pledged to the marriage oath by herself before she cut the cake alone. She even had to put on her very own wedding ring.
The hellish wedding ceremony had finally ended. She was finally sent back to her new house.
Valery was extremely anxious as she lay on the bed in the new house.
She was told that Addison couldn't have intercourse after his lower body was paralyzed. Besides, he had a weird personality. Would he be coming home this very evening?
In fact, the one that should be marrying Addison was Nicole Travis, her younger sister.
The Travis family wanted to marry off Nicole in exchange for the support from the Chilton family. But Valery didn't want Nicole to suffer; hence, she gave up her studies in Earlington and took Nicole's place to marry Addison.
This was because she was indebted to Nicole.
When she was a child, she took Nicole out to play but she lost her. The family searched for three whole days before they could find Nicole. Unfortunately, after that incident, she developed autism.
Valery had always blamed herself for that incident, and she was constantly looking for a chance to make up for Nicole. Finally, here came her chance. She could repay her debt by marrying Addison.
The Chilton family didn't care whether it was her or Nicole. Their main purpose of this marriage was to find a wife who came from a decent family for Addison.
This marriage was beneficial to everyone except for her, Valery.
Thinking of her tragic marriage life in the future, Valery couldn't help tearing up. After being exhausted from the cry, she fell asleep.
In a daze, she felt a pair of huge, calloused hands wrapping around her waist.
"Who gave you permission to wear my clothes?"
A deep masculine voice commanded gruffly.
Startled, Valery opened her eyes.
In the darkness, she could only see the outline of a man, his silhouette synonymous with a nightmare haunting her.
Well, in truth, she was indeed wearing Addison's clothes. She was in a hurry this morning and had forgotten to pack her pajamas. Thus, she took a T-shirt and wore it.
She did not expect Addison to come over this late at night. On top of that, she did not expect him to be so... stingy...
"It's just a T-shirt. Do you have to make a fuss about it?"
She had always been straightforward. Only moments later did she notice the slight hint of anger in Addison's eyes. Geez! Had she gotten on his bad side? It was only the first day of their marriage.
Valery's heart was palpitating with worries when Addison lifted up the hem of the t-shirt she was wearing. He stroked her smooth and delicate skin with his huge, calloused palm...
He was actually trying to take off her clothes!
Every muscle of Valery's body froze in an instant. Without hesitation, Valery grabbed hold of his hand.
"I will go and buy a new pair of pajamas tomorrow. I will wash your clothes and return them to you. I promise that I won't mess with your things in the future."
"I'm going to sleep in the second bedroom!"
Valery added immediately, fearing that he would strip her n*ked even before she could finish her sentence.
She was about to flee but at that moment, Addison held her shoulders, pinning her onto the bed once again.
"Let's sleep together." He leaned over and stared at her, his voice low and powerful, making Valery impossible to refute.
"Sleep together? Aren't you disabled..."
She knew she had said the wrong thing, but it was too late. Glaring at her oppressively, he was obviously furious.
In the next second, Addison lifted the quilt and pressed on her using the lower half of his body.
Valery dared not even move a finger. However, deep down, she had not given up all hope.
He was a disabled person; he would not be capable of doing any harm to her...
Valery pinned her hand against Addison's chest before she steeled herself and asked, "Your legs... it's inconvenient for us to... do it, right?"
His hands that were wrapped around her waist tightened before his low, hoarse voice swept through her ear. "It is not inconvenient at all."
