Just like a usual day, I woke up for school and was hoping to have a good breakfast every morning but who am I kidding?
''I'm sorry, dear, we only have breads for today'' My mother said while looking at me apologetically. I'm not trying to be a brat but this life that I have is totally unfair.
Me and my family deserves having a luxurious life instead of those people who's abusing the money and the power that they have but here we are, stuck on finding a way to survive everyday.
''Don't we have any eggs left?'' I asked as I sat down on our old chair, my mother sighed as she looked at the 6 breads in front of her. Two for me, two for my brother, one for my mother, and one for my father.
''We have but I'm going to save it for you and your brother's lunch'' She answered with a sad tone.
I have a seven years old brother and my mom just got fired with her work as a waitress last month while my dad is doing his best as a janitor in my school–but his salary wasn't always enough for us, I've also been applying for a part-time job but I still haven't received any call yet. If only my parents finished college, maybe they'll have a better job and we will have a better life compared to what we have right now..
''I'm not going to eat. You guys can have my bread'' I said even though my stomach started to grumbled.
''Sierra–'' my mom was about to opposed but I just gave her a fake smile.
''Don't worry about me, mom. I really need to go to school before I get late.'' I said, cutting her off.
''Wait–here's your lunch, dear''
My mother handed me a lunch box that contains a little amount of fried rice and boiled egg. I bitterly smiled while looking at the little amount of food that cannot fill me up. What choice do I have? I'll just need to make sure that I wouldn't waste my energy so I won't be really hungry if it's lunch time.
"Thank you, mom." I uttered and she hugged me.
"I'm sorry for giving you and your brother a hard life. If only I can give you all the things that you guys want.." My mother whispered with guilt on her voice, I let out a small smile before breaking myself into her warm hug.
"It's okay, mom." I mumbled and looked away.
To be honest, I'm really tired eating the same thing everyday, I'm tired seeing my parents trying their best for paying our expenses, and I'm tired for being mistreated just because I was born unfortunate. So I really wish that maybe someday, we all can go at any place we want, eat everything we can, and buy anything without worrying any financial problem.
"Keep safe, Sierra." my mother said when I opened the door, ready to leave. I just nodded at her as I started walking to school.
The last time that I was able to smile happily is the moment that I received a news that I won a scholarship in Wellton High, the school where I'm currently studying and it was made for those wealthy people that calls their selves as "elites" and also for those people who have sponsors that can pay their tuition fee but for me it was so expensive and so impossible to pay–well, thanks to my scholarship that I really worked hard for.
The only problem that I encountered in “Wellton High” is those mean students, bullying us. It was a school full of pride and influences so maybe those spoiled students couldn't accept the fact that a person that wasn't wealthy like them can actually study in Wellton so they're really trying their best just to get rid of us.
"Another day, another bullying." I bitterly whispered to myself as I looked at the huge golden gate with the school's name, it's wide open since all of the students here are showing off their branded luxurious car. The faculty couldn't even handle them because they were so spoiled and the school needs their money and influence. How ungratefully unfair.
I started walking inside and there's so many students, some are looking at me judgementally and smugly. How many times does these students slaps right at my face that they're rich and I'm just a poor girl that was lucky enough to enter this school? So arrogant.
"damn it, stop walking like a turtle, will you?" I flinched when I heard a guy frustratingly said from behind. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even noticed that I'm walking too slow and there's someone at my back.
"Sorry–!"
I bit my lower lip to prevent myself from cursing when the guy walked passed at me and intentionally bump my shoulder. He was too strong because of his broad shoulders causing me to fell at the ground helplessly. I frustratedly run my fingers through my messy hair because of what he did.
"Jerk." I mumbled as I stood up and fixed myself, my eyes widened when I heard his footsteps stopped as if he just heard what I said. Oh, screw my loud mouth.
I gulped and slowly looked at his blue eyes that was currently glaring at me. I even saw some students watching us! Gosh, the last thing that I want right now is to gain attentions. Okay, I get it, they are rich and I wasn't supposed to messed with them but how can I just turn on a blind eye if they're acting like they can control everything? I just wish that my father won't know whatever might happen right now.
"What did you say?" He asked, calmly yet dangerously.
I sharply closed my eyes as my hands began to trembled, I promise to myself that I won't cause any trouble here but they're really testing my patience and after a couple of seconds relaxing myself, I finally opened my eyes as I crossed my arms.
"Repeat what you said in front of me" He ordered.
"Oh, didn't you heard what I said earlier? Shouldn't you be apologizing right now? Yes, you're probably an elite but it still doesn't give you the rights to do anything you want. You guys are just a bunch of spoiled brats acting so cool where in fact–you guys are just using the money of your parents." I exclaimed as I can feel some students gasping while glaring at me, I can even hear them cursing my name which I don't really care.
I saw how this guy with blue eyes clenched his jaw and lift his eyebrows. I stepped back when he started taking a step forward into my direction. Now, what will he going to do? Hurt me? Say some harsh words? Tell the principal to punish me for messing with him?
"Watch your mouth, lady. It wasn't my fault that you're walking too slow." He said as he slid his hands on his pockets.
"If you're mad just because I called you a jerk, then it wasn't also my fault."
He gritted his teeth and stopped in front of me as he pulled the lace of my ID, I saw how his eyes scanned it for a second before he leaned closer at my face causing me to stop breathing for a second. I pursed my lips when he tilted his face as if he was about to kiss me, I can hear those exaggerated gasped from all of those students who's watching us. But in a sudden, his lips touched my ear and with the most airy yet huskily, he whispered.
"If you want a peaceful life here then don't even try talking back to those who's superior than you."
I clenched my fist, that's it? Just because they have the power against those people who was born below them–they're going to take advantage of that? Pathetic, how dare him threatened me– I apologized but he bumped my shoulder so it was basically his fault. He stood straight and gave me one last warning look before I heard someone calling his name that leads him to walked away. I stomped my feet due to frustration when he turned his back. I'm really dying to punch his face right now.
"Javier, let's go!"
Gosh, even his name sounds so arrogant like him.
