I was sad. I was drinking by myself. I missed her. I closed my eyes thinking about her and hoping she would be happy wherever she is and whatever she does. She is my best friend- Jane, Jane Brown. My name is Leo. We have been best friends since 20 years. Since I was 10 year old she is the one I have been following whichever way she went. She is 3 years older than me.
It was summer that year. I was going home disappointed after being rejected from being a member of the school rudgby team. Yes, that was what I always wished for almost a year. My family is a broken one. My mother re-married 5 years ago after my father died in a car accident and I have been neglected ever since. Even though I was from a rich family, I went to the school of the high class but childhood without love and happiness is a bane.
Tossing and dribbling the ball I was on my way home not knowing where to find ease. The ball went rolling on the road and I went after it to grab it. Lost in my own world I didn’t realize a speeding car towards me. I was pushed to the ground and when I looked back at the car it hit a girl on her legs and she went flying to the side. Everyone gathered and a few recognized her from the other college nearby. She was unconscious. She had saved me. Yes, she pushed me away from being hit by the car.
She was taken to the hospital and was fine but her spine and legs were fractured which would take half a year to recover. Her name was Jane. Her only family was her mother working day and night shifts to gather the medical expenses and living. I took care of her. I found a family. She was fond of reading books. I got her books from my school library and read out to her. She was a smart, confident and kind person. That day onwards Leo and Jane were in-separable and close as family.
I opened my eyes coming back to reality. I went to her home today to share with her my happiness of my latest book being the best seller again. She was the one who motivated me to write. I owe her my lifetime. I heard her crying loudly begging her husband to stay. She was married for 5 years now to the man of her dreams, whom she loved for 10 years. I couldn’t bear to see her cry. It made me sad. But I couldn’t interfere in their personal affair.
